They have been doing this work for some time, the machines they are using are great big 360s that reach up to the top branches grab them and snap them off; hence no climbing. This is not the sort of job that the likes of me will even get a sniff of. Not because of greasy palms but because you need serious equipment. -

question; how come you did'nt just pull them up with the winch using a couple of strops to keep it central? i don't see the need to roll butts that size. When I do this with my landrover and Ifor combo I place the landy where your red one is and pull them up straight, from the back of the trailer and they have come up a treat. with your method is there not a good chance of damaging the cable? Not a criticism just a thought.

Seeing as how it was so dangerous, surely the taker of the photo could have made the driver aware of his folly there and then, rather than posting it on a forum and demanding a prison sentence!

I think it is a little disingenuous to ask what it is worth, I am sure you know pretty much if you bought it brand new for say three grand then its worth about two. and I am also sure that most people know it is not a reluctant sale, you bought it, realised its not up to the job so now trying to move it on. fine, sell it on flea bay.

Totally wrong! I think your building your part up a bit, climbing trees for a living can be hard but its not sport, i worked with a bloke of 55 and he was fine, bit slower but he never had to go back on his work, we are tree trimmers and fellers not finely tuned athletes.

Hi Rob Its a 98 130 tipper with 118 k with inbuilt toolbox, super winch HL14 powered by a pto on the gearbox via a hydraulic motor, plug in point for a splitter, pecker etc, radio remote on the winch to 60mtrs, BFgoodrich each corner, Hydraulic reservoir under the seat. schorkel,kenlowe fan,,timing belt 2000miles ago, clutch 5000 approx. 9250 pounds no vat to be added, Its here in France with me but still on English plates so easy to re-import. I will send photos via another account immediately.

If removing even the possibility of children being injured or killed is wrapping them in cotton wool, then wrap away, of course tree officers would rather take the flak for a felled tree than someone dead, when they retire they won't say "oh well only one person killed by an iffy tree! everyone makes mistakes"
