  6. looks good. its looks like such a simple fix.
  7. A rule of thumb is to calculate the tree diameter divided by 1,5. For example: Diameter 11” divided by 1.5 = 7. Apply 7 plugs evenly spaced. i took that from their website. where do you guys get hold of them?
  8. I can personally recommend petzl alveo vent. with kit I would axdvise not to scrimp on the items as you will be spending a lot of hours in them and my want of lookwing AT it how much are my legs worth to me
  9. id defo be wanting one. id make a donation to the fund the book/cloud thingy. would it be a consideration to be an online entity. and a small pocket book *possibly later. would there be funding/grant from the AA or the ISA for something like this they would have more info and a lot of people to call on for information. keep us updated on here when you do start it as that will bulid intrest and maybey a show launch as youll have a big audience straight away. get jonsie and honey bros to do a special offer for the first 2 days of sale or something. hope anything i said helps you out
  10. hi guys i had planned to waterprof and paint the boards so they shouldnt get heavy. and to tree surgeon essex how much did the materials cost you for your van i like the design and was going to do something similar so am curious also how do you get on with the chipper you have as i am contemplating getting one in the future*long term future
  11. hello all ive recently bought my first tipper and have decided not to go for metal mainly for cost reasons and the van needs to earn money first. so im doing it out of wood ive come up with a design i like the look of after trawlng through almost all of the arb trucks on the sticky thread on the forum. so the people who have done it what were the pitfalls and did you find a design that failed/worked brillaintely. i am planing on using structual plywood treated with a wood preserver and then painted to match in with a logo i am having designed as i am typing this. I have a ldv convoy crew cab for reference. and i have also read the weights and measures thread. anyother suggestions of reading material or anything else im open to suggestions. thank you in advance Ian C
  12. How's the stitching because I've ripped the crotch on my last two pairs of trousers. What's the price Greg?
  13. I wear gloves personally but they have got caught in the prussic a little bit but not often. i prefer them as they keep my hands cleaner and as some one mentioned all the little cuts and grazes that come with the work
  14. Cheers for the extra info mark its very much apreciated. I've blown the crotch on any pair of trousers so far. So will avoid the stretch airs. And I don't mind spending the money if the trousers do the job and last well also my way of thinking. How much are my legs worth to me. Hence why I only buy type c's
  15. its a shame mark that you think i havent read through the countless other posts on the subject. but I like to get the latest info from people out on the ground actually using them day in day out. and thank you for your vote for stretch airs
  16. hello all arbtalkers I am in need of some new chainsaw trousers Type C I have had sthil HI-FLEX. but found they ripped very easily and needing a lot of sewing/patching I am currently on sip progress finding them good but with both pairs of trousers I am ripping them around the crotch area *no jokes about packages so i would like to know what do you use pro's con's what would you change too/ if you would change at all i am intrested to hear about the x-fit and the pfanner gladiator cheers guys and gals:thumbup:
  17. I was wondering who was going and if people would be up for meeting and putting a face to the name. I'm there Saturday with the misses
  18. something out of the ordinary and unexpected. but where you dont get hurt* having to walk through all the brambles as you dont have a tractor and a rear mounted flail ;-). but a job that turns out to be interesting and unusual is a good thing because if it was the same every day i think we would get bored very quickly. btw loving the mad max style roll cage on your tracker ;-)
  19. I like the idea ive always thought of it but i like the family bit too it really works.
  20. well im cooking crispy chicken fajitas what are you cooking sorry to derail thread but i thought it was funny
  21. try posting in the employment forum. when you do sell yourself and say what experience you have quals etc etc and a way to contact you. good luck
  22. i would say so not scrimp on the trousers and helmet and boots as you will spend a lot of time in them. gloves just get some decent work ones the chain file stihl and oregon offer kit rolls of a flat file a round file and a depth gauge it could be a good start as youll have a nic way of keeping it all. and i 2nd the comment about cheap defenders and helmet get the best money can buy. ive killed one helmet in my time working in arb. it died but i had no injuries from it whatsoever. good luck stay safe
