  1. Nah! you are a man of dark arts that are frowned upon by some and viewed suspiously by others. Having used my dark arts 346xp that you spuderized for the last three months. Today I used my bigger untouched 357xp. I could of run on the chain like a treadmill. (hyperbole Jesus used them) Porting really does work. Im a convert. You werent in Gods garden. We got kicked out of Eden.
  2. I tried kindling this year. Bought in 200 nets. Sold about 25. Moral of the story can you do it competitively? Will you have alot on hand come warmer weather. Coal merchants do it for a living, they are set up to handle it right though to your coal bunker.
  3. As for sentimental trees. I felled leylandii that my Grandad ( He died 28 years ago and yes he was a top friend)planted due to practical reasons. If they had blown the wrong way, powerlines would of gone with them.
  4. Your friend took advantage, you have done a sterling job. My advice would be don't do it again. Charity when its genuine is ok but, they were just tight and lied. They should've had them dropped to the floor. Lots of people out there now wanting a quick fix then neglect them to repeat the cycle and though its beyond them to do it. They don't want to pay.
  5. Link didn't work for me. Just a youtube homepage
  6. Thanks for the link. I get a heck of alot of useful info on arbtalk......yet I went to google first this time and spent hours looking at stuff that is no good to me:blushing: Next time I will start in the search box here.
  7. Thanks Barrie, have sent an email.
  8. To resurrect an older thread. Was any advancement made with anyones charcoal making? I hope to have ago this year whilst working in the woods. I plan on doing a bit of blacksmithing. Therefore would like to burn brash to cook charcoal. Retort style. I also plan on using an airline from compressor to a homemade old brakedrum forge. I also have many other dreams yet to realise:001_rolleyes: I will post if I get that far. Also are you still after barrels with lids Chris? If I come across any.
  9. Anything in the kitchen. I can be as delicate as needed on tools, quick, even skillfull. But in the kitchen everything doesnt seem to work for me. Ive just had a struggle with the electric tin opener. My wife just offers the tin to opener it whizzes round job done. Me everytime I have to try then analyze why it doesnt engage. GGGrrrrrrrhhhhh
  10. Im back again. does anybody know where I can source Kohler parts. It is the K181 that 2 stroke ady mentions I can only find moderner engines online in the uk. I have tried DIYspares as I am hoping to compile an order to them shortly. I have spent a few hours browsing websites just to confirm the type variant and carb type.
  11. It always amazes me how the hitch couplings and their fittings hang in there. Did the driver admit to driving quickly? I made a bigger mess of a landrover pulling a trailer 12 years ago. I was only doing 40mph and due to broken spring leaves on the trailer it just snaked everywhere. Pictures are early digital days:001_rolleyes:
  12. I had a persistant irish man last week in a big newish silver car at my parents in east yorks. He was determined I needed a generator with honda engine 2.4 kvh. I remember it well because it was a scratched record playback style hard sell. Then he offered me a cheap chainsaw. I said I do use chainsaws but only touch husqvarna(no offence to stihl lovers) with that he jumped in and went. If its the same chap maybe he is taking note of potential customer feedback. By the way to anyone that is tempted. Im told they fire up and demonstate with one then sell you a boxed duffer.
  13. Thats a rare pleasure to see, especially when the young un is all mouth and ego.
  14. I did make a start on a mini mill ladder setup but it needs more development, time I don't have at the moment.http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/milling-forum/60089-diy-vertical-ladder-mill.html
  15. Favourites is a bit of a misnomer in this instance. Though a useful place to keep it to make the experience quicker and £40 less painful.
  16. Chainsawbars ? chainsaw chains, chainsaw bars and chainsaw accessories Try them They will probably source one if they don't stock it.
  17. I live 20 miles awayEmpty 1000ltr stillage Water Butt with drain tap | eBay
  18. Thats a fair enough proposal. People will soon learn. It is in the rules when you sign up for the forum. It doesn't add any major value to comments anyway. If some people I know gave up swearing when speaking they would spend 70% less time talking and gave the same amount of information. Probably.
  19. They said they would beat/ equal other suppliers prices I sent a request for a polesaw quote and never heard a thing. It could be an employee issue. Stilll not good. I do think you will get sorted.
  20. Going back to my query about a kohler engine on page 25 of this thread. I cannot find any serial number on the engine of my Turner flail mower. It does have a serial number on the Turner machine. Amfell put me in the right direction, though I have not managed to bring up any distinctive feature to identify. Im only after a governor and carb spring. Do all the K series have their own or is their only a couple of variants? I dont mind buying 4 springs say to try. I can take photos of whatever shows a distinction. Thanks
  21. Was discussing this with Taupotreeman. About attitude of employees, want, want, expect, expect. Their incentive as already said should be their job. I don't mean in a slave driving way. As mentioned the competition factor doe's cause treading on toes, manipulating the best jobs etc. Whereas if the incentive is shared equally not all will put in the same effort. Its a tough one to balance fairly, keeping all happy. Works better for small teams, a treat such as a lunch paid for now and again. Sweets handed round can create good team spirit. You only have to look at how we like going back to good customers that look after you. A good boss readily helps out when he sees the need. A diligent employee will also do what he sees needs doing. That might be a little gift'£' when the employee have a problem or the staff staying behind to fix equipment, ready to start early next day.
  22. Hmmmm, then they think "labourers" don't need to think. I've worked with lads were you uourself are unproductive due to "readjusting their work" I saw a good phase today, it said... If trees gave off WiFi signals we would plant them like crazy, shame they only give us oxygen that we breathe.
  23. They can vary in looks but, in simple terms 4 posts about 8ft long or less if only for sheep. Tapering out at the top away from the tree. Then rails, wire etc banged on. The ones I mentioned earlier, the half round rails go in a spiral up, i.e every rail is on a diagonal angle. Then the top and bottom have horizontal as well to finish off. Shabby ones are just sheep net wrapped round at double depth.
  24. I agree with spikeymikey, have you seen the diagonal vase style ones on the left at Barmby moor heading to York on the A1079 Jimbob. I have looked on Googlemaps but the image is too old.
