  1. I believe your initial penetration in to the log will be improved. But once the whole blade is in contact the resistance will increase as normal with a strong pinch. Also your mod will need to be short and stubby I think to prevent it being distorted by lopsided pressure. This is only theory from my imagination gained by axe hours of experience.
  2. Back to front? Or should of been wearing better PPE such as Y fronts. Sorry couldn't resist.
  3. His bottom?
  4. Have you thought of solar hot water panels. DIY fitting perhaps? Then just get a plumber to cert it if needed. It will boost hot water/CH and save on logs. Probably knock 4 months out you log requirements. I got a kit 2 years ago for less than £2k. Still need to fit it:blushing:
  5. We did the dam thing. Mate told his dad, it was only 1ft tall. His dad was dafter, he went and smashed it the next day so the following evening we we to see how it was going. Dead sticklebacks on the stones. Not impressed. We also spent hours throwing penknives between each others feet on grass. Used to sharpen green garden canes with a pencil sharpener, fit a nut on the tip with racing pigeon rubber rings at fire them at each other with homemade bows. We dug booby traps. I used to hang from a pulley upside down and zip line out. Of our home made treehouse. When you think what our normal activities were and how you are not allowed to do them anymore, no wonder the newer generations can't do much. I wouldn't stop kids doing what we did. 6. I bought one of these used it for two years, no nuts, bolts or wedges. doesn't look much but very effective. FENCE WIRE PULLER FOR TRACTOR | eBay The twister they do is very good as well. I find it better than the common bent hook end type.
  7. Hmm, got a stihl woodboss 24 av to look at from someone I work for. It has spark and compression. But took plug out and it looks as though no fuel is getting through. Perished fuel line? Carburettor? Any ideas chaps?
  8. You will need to do it in such a way that. You can take it apart or have it floorless, to empty the ash out.
  9. Have faith you aint gone fully soft. You only give em the peelings. Animal rights folk would of gone down to supermarket and bought "Best organic carrots" Then chucked the peelings away!
  10. Here is the stuff in action first picture a concrete encrusted wheelbarrow wheel out a skip. Brushed in acid. Its starting to react. 2nd picture, less than 5 minutes later. New looking wheel sec
  11. On the control point of it. Movement of ash nursery stock has stopped completely. Its not screened and tested. Just a blanket ban. Yet any Joe public could go up to a dieback ash and get some firewood off it drag it about then use his saw on a healthy one. Whilst I realise foot and mouth in livestock is not perhaps the same commercial threat etc. Look at the military response to that, even though it had glaring errors in its handling. Therefore would it make much difference if ash plants were back on the market. Simply plant lower percentage in woodlands to reduce risk. Increase genetic diversity out there. After all if its only certain environmental factors such as humidity, temperature. Its only akin to an allotment disease such as onion rot or clubroot. Just don't grow the affected plants in the affected locations.
  12. Got to agree, only cleaners that get paid a low rate put rubbish in your bin. If you chop a tree done and leave it for them. Its usually reflected in the price.
  13. :thumbup1:Whoops, thanks Spud. Got to agree with all reasons. Sorry Barrie all these "proper tools" are a load of unnesassary clutter .
  14. That reminds me. Bitches kill grass with their urine. If you put vinegar in their drinking water it cures this problem.
  15. Workmate had this recently £60 call out £30 for new oven element instead he paid £28 for new oven element and fitted himself. It was an idiot proof connection that only went one way. I assume these companies work tight geographical areas. Save on fuel do minimum of 4 jobs a day. Take quid coins out washing machine filters out of bimbos washing machines etc. I tend to try and fix which works in most cases or replace.
  16. You do get lucky sometimes..... But its usually the saw that finds it.
  17. No I did keep female goats years ago hence the nickname. Never had a beard wetting Billy, or otherwise. The reason I started this is Im intrigued and like to be resourceful. Im not a hoarder, but if you can put something you are getting rid of to good use, may as well whilst your at it. Knowing the various characters and knowledge we have on here. I knew we could outdo The Encyclopedia Britanica in a couple of days on any subject.
  18. They do earn a good whack for a relatively unqualified, unregulated line of work. With low start up and running costs. However a few I know have had nasty falls and a good friend of mine will never be independant again. It is an instant calamity profession. I personally would chuck it in a week due to boredom and lack of challenge and stimulus. You can't fantasise over upgrading from a 300mm squeege to the 450mm double swipe anti smear version like you would something with an engine fitted. Money certainly isn't everything!!! I reckon Stephen Blair too would cease to exist after a month of sponge and squeege.
  19. Hi all. I assume this has been tackled before on the threads. But I don't know to use really for words in the search. A friend has a husky 235 with the daft tamperproof carb screws. The saw is running silly and not behaving. Is their a simple fix. My thoughts are hacksaw a groove spin them out and get new screws. Any ideas? Feel free to pm me or put it on here for others to benefit. I do have photos to show saw and model numbers. Will put them up later if needed when I get back.
  20. As above some posts like employment have replies switched off.
  21. Bit a bizzare one I know. I do know the following and have proved them to myself 1. Pee on a conifer (leylandii) that part will go brown and die off. 2. Pee on daisies in the lawn and the will die out, may need repeat doses. Put it in a watering can first if your neighbours can see you! The following Ive heard but not proven by experimentation Male human urine applied at your boundaries is said to keep foxes away.I have not had success with this but a friend in town cured the visits from Mr fox with this. Weeing on your hands if you have dermatitis will get rid of it. Applications unknown. Applying it to the compost bin the nitrogen is said to be beneficial to decomposing the high carbon materials. I would prefer to keep this thread intelligent. But no doubt the " Are you taking the pee!" comments will follow, but I just wondered how useful is this stuff. After all the addblue exhaust additive now used in modern clean burn diesels is urea based I understand.
  22. Can verify the addiction. We did once seem to wean a lister single cylinder diesel in a winget ( i think) dumper so it would hand crank up but the softer lads let it relapse. It does work however.
  23. If you are like me, you will find HGV driving unfulfilling. I'd recommend hanging on to it for 6 months see how the job goes. All the best with it though and I hope its a job that you are physically active for periods as well. I find i eat less, yet can put half a stone on in 2 weeks when driving.
  24. PLEASE PLEASE do not use steel nails. Someday somebody will curse what you did when they are cutting through it with whatever type of saw they are using. Drill the holes in the boxes ready and if you really have to use nails use aluminum. They are available in DIY stores hardware merchants, screwfix etc. A birdbox is for a few years until it drops off. The nail is in the tree for as long as its woody. Nails devalue timber and are an bodged eyesore
  25. I bought it as a teenager, still have it.
