  1. 346xp is different. Just for the record.
  2. For some reason its a rip off industry. I once needed some rigid type for a mobile home for a wood stove £30+ per meter. I went to an engineers shop that uses round tube. Got a 2+mtr length stainless offcut for £30. Quality piece of metal. Maybe the cost is to cover the exorbitant costs of type approving quality assurance etc. The good old days of true value are gone.
  3. Time to choose. Life and death. Only 1 winner.
  4. Went to local dealers today. Ordered 4 ltr of husky 2 stroke the standard not xp or LS over a week ago.Didn't have it in when I went. They have to order a pallet if it in, so no show. I've always used it. I got the last lot from a dealer at Moffat in Scotland when u was on holiday. All I said when the salesperson said they had to buy a pallet load was, "I'd need to be somewhere more forestry based. To get it then" From nowhere his colleague sprang out to say Morris 2HSS was a far better oil. Blah blah, on the defensive. Every new saw leaves the premises with Morris in it. So for the first time I've bought alternative oil.
  5. Poplar. They come out golden yellow before turning green, one patch is still like this. Also the scar formation is V like under the branches which is visible in this photo on the nearest tree.
  6. I once did half a leylandii. The squabs stayed put, but I imagine the parents where not impressed to find the little darlings covered in sawdust. They are so hard to find if you look first, it is a problem and the homeowners sometimes say nothing because its the reason they want rid in the 1st place!
  7. Did no one else appreciate the felling accuracy? I'd like to scrutinise the hinge.
  8. This is taken now with a regular removal. Thanks
  9. They employ bubble dwelling automatons that cannot comprehend nor have imagination to take them beyond the bubble. Sorry for your situation, its everywhere with government agencies. Provide a poor service standard then cry like babies when their perks are affected.
  10. "Yeah right!!" Proper divers beer [ame] [/ame]
  11. Patience Well done, after doing something like that if I could. I'd not want to carve for a few weeks at least. Very outstanding work.
  12. I'd ask local farmers who they use. Some farm workers are actually better than some than do it for a living.
  13. Aye a big Somerset butt will do lovely!
  14. I wore my air steams for first time on Monday. Are they better with thick socks. I never noticed any air stream cool non sweat difference. After reading another thread I went up a size. Maybe I should of gone 1/2 a size?
  15. My best was water sewage and electric all in one auger hole. All on private land I fixed sewage and water about £80 for electrician.
  16. You are so open, you ask/tell us what is going on in your life. It's better then any soap opera. You're really a key character on the forum. Polite you always say thanks. You have an excitable boyishness that comes across. We may at times roll eyes etc. but it's all good. Sonia sounds like a good backbone as well. Keeping you under control. People laugh at me in person, I never figure it. They say it's the way I word things.
  17. If you have the tractor already for other work. Then do plenty of machine planting. Yes. But if you spend £1000 on planter and plant 1000 trees no. Economy comes with scale. Two of us plant a mixed woodland at a rate of 200+ trees per day tubex guards and stakes. 3 people using a planter will do 2000 a day I guess. Compare that to our rate. It saves 18 days labour. If that was £50 a day. That's £900 All my figures are guesstimates. But give the general idea. £50a day is poor pay.
  18. Maybe but the planters deserve the machines. It's one of those jobs only a small minority will stick at and do to a high standard. It's the old " anybody can stick a tree in" they can roots out above ground or contorted underground. The other day when with my clients the wife said "look they all coming" the husband replied " they will, they've been planted well" Knowing how we did plant them with tlc. It's satisfying. If u had a large planting job I would prefer machine because I know at least the depth would be good. Rather than trusting a team of rustled together planters. I did start my working life on a tree nursery and have planted various ways, Whatever you do, do a proper job for the trees not pure monetary greed.
  19. I think I remember you posting a tree planter a couple of years ago Charlie. Mechanisation is the way forward of site allows.
  20. I've had tendonitus for 4 months in left shoulder blade. It's not a bad case of it. Forget it's there unless putting a t shirt or sweater on. Or reaching out or above shoulder then it nips bad.
  21. I try and get all done before March, I don't do that much. Its nice to get it out the way, once spring is here everybody wants it all doing at once. Had a look at a job we finished in January today almost 100% in bud/leaf. Another reason we finish early is clay soil and prone to summer drought round here.
  22. Drag a magnet over them until all gathered up.
  23. No they just charge for the materials. You would buy the full pack they open. But still on average way cheaper and time saving. It's geared upto help the nhs, the nhs also sets targets and financial incentives to divert people away from the nhs. Testing for cholesterol, diabetes etc. I suppose if they don't charge they are less liable against all these liability claim types. Which varty mentions above. I don't think the pharmacist are going to swell with hypochondriacs, lazy people and those desiring a state sponsored ill lifestyle, because that stuff is in the doctors and nhs powers. Until they see pharmacy as a way to offload responsibility that is.
  24. In the UK the primary issue is Legionaires disease, but mains water gets that sometimes. Ive been all over NZ and like the idea of water self suffiency and no chemicals added but some of it in the North island tastes not so good.
  25. You sound like a complete newbie. NPTC do the knapsack course (PA1 + PA6 i think)then you have a separate test later. Cost of knapsack etc. Records to keep etc Might be cost prohibitive unless you are going to do a fair bit of this work. DIY methods are sprinkling salt or spray with at least 5% acecic acid vinegar neat. See google for more info.
