  1. And that doesn't mean anyone is right or wrong.....just saying? Empty pitchers.........
  2. Your wifes flapjacks were perfect and there is no innuendo implied....we are talking cakes here, cakes and coffee!!!
  3. I tried a bottle of this "Special Cleaner"....OK for a water based splodge and it works well on the lighter ingress of surface resin but that baked on stuff that resembles over cooked flap jack....not a chance!!!!! Best option for these is to send them back to the owner uncleaned, they caused it, they can lament on their failure!!!!!
  4. Nice.......wonder why it wasn't spinning the chain, muffler was also held on by just the lower support bracket screws....no inner ones!
  5. Usually the bigger the house, the tighter the residents are!
  6. Best way, fit it and see what it does, if it doesn't work, hand it over to someone who can take it to the next stage.
  7. Only issue is that if you gave her a new one, she would want it fitted, then there is mental trauma, loss of earnings and yah de da de dah.....you know the type! Some people are the pits....thats life, move on!
  8. Yup, it knackers me lifting those big fecking saws on to my bench?
  9. I gave my advice free of charge and with experience of fixing quite a few 880s with heat seize failures typically from fuel being left in the tank for a long period before being used again. Using Aspen will work as well but the point is, the saws cost a fortune, supply is in constraint and if you want to generate more business for your repair guy, CARRY ON DOING WHAT YOU DO.......I can't be arsed to argue!! I was going to mention the oil pumps on 880s but think I will keep it to myself as the advice.....that I also like to give my paying customers as well, seems to be causing angst on the site!!!
  10. Just fit a new one and if it isn't that, you have only done £20! The issue was the first ones got very fine chip in them so they bought out a new one and it comes with a much finer fuel filter so change that as well!
  11. I may test a bottle but prefer customers with a positive attitude toward saw cleaning and maintenance. Mr Harrison was a model customer, sent 3 saws in, I complained about their state, he purchased a compressor and got a bit involved - the next 6 saws in you could eat your dinner off - it means I spend my time getting the tricky stuff done and not trying to make the kit look acceptable! He has some well looked after kit now - ones to reflect his business in a positive light!!!
  12. For anyone running large saws that don't get used often.....drain the fuel after use, old fuel is one of the main reason that big saws get seized. Guys finish the job, it goes back on the shelf for months and then......it comes out and there is half a tank of old fuel, enough for the job and pop, the oil has been degraded by the petrol and the saw seizes - pretty common!
  13. Well I hope we get somewhere with this one. There are too many good guys doing a good job having their trade trashed by a few hrse aoles who are happy to take £3k from a 80 year old pensioner for a £400 job and leave when they have trashed the job. My old dad got some "good blokes" to do a mornings job a long while ago, took down his phone line, took him to his bank for payment...a few hundred £££ and then buggered off in to the distance - I was bloody livid but what can you do, a neighbour binned them off and then they did a door knock and bingo, my old boy got done over.
  14. Well..............what happened????
  15. It is strange the company card has no contact details on it - that smacks of pikey involvement. As a matter of interest, where did the name "Chris Price" and the address come from and where was the work done as the OP mentions being in South Wales? It is possible the guys just picked a random name and address! How did the folks next door engage with these fellas....a knock at the door, cold calling, paper, internet??
  16. I believe you mean "rogue" rather than a bloke with a suntan!!!
  17. How about dumping that lump of timber through their front window....that's a good start....see what happens and then see how it burns if the response isn't good!
  18. The partners parents have a farm TA20 3AA maybe where he operates from!
  19. Google street view - looks a bit arb to me! We know who you are?
  20. You need to rev a saw with non AT carb flat out to tach tune the carb to ensure the carb is acting as a rev limiter keeping the saw to under the maximum revs irrespective of any limiter on the coil. Would I take a freshly rebuilt saw or new saw and rev them flat out...nope, I would build up heat first of all. Would it do damage - probably not if everything is working as it should and is unlikely to seize with the saw not being under full load. Saws are designed to be run flat out or on idle. When they are new, the rough surfaces of the ring, piston and bore need to be abraded together to form the best seal between surfaces whilst they are still a little rough and able to do so. This is done for revving it flat out for short periods so no going at a 3' ring with a new saw, short smaller cuts flat out with periods of cooling between cuts. Leaving a new saw idling for a long period is not the way to do it!
  21. The guy didn't have a black truck with spotlights across the top of the cab did he, there is one parked in the drive of one of the houses around that post code!
  22. I have done a bit of crunching.... If you search for Chris Price and the postcode TA1 2RW on 192.com (I don't have a paid account) I see a "Christopher P Price) at "TR1" and he is cohabiting with a "Rebecca J Lock". If you look up her - you get this address from Companies house and the post code matches your full code.... Rebecca Jane LOCK - Personal Appointments (free information from Companies House) FIND-AND-UPDATE.COMPANY-INFORMATION.SERVICE.GOV.UK Free company information from Companies House including registered office address, filing history, accounts, annual return, officers, charges, business activity Firstly, I am not saying that these people are related to this incidence or are to blame in any way but a bit of searching has thrown up the name given and the post code to an address - hope it helps......should have been a private investigator!
  23. Just get a pic of it and put it on the site. Include one of everything that is within 40' of the trunk so we can see if anything is likely to be clouted if it goes wrong. Look at the trunk for lean and get a photo of this as well - it builds up a picture of risk and the guys on here will give you stick......no sorry....advice on how to mitigate it! I have felled similar small trees, one in close proximity of my neighbours house but it had good lean (away from the house), used a rope and it fell bang on where I wanted it. I have also seen disasters (by others) on roped branches that have gone completely and unexpectedly in the wrong direction with damn near fatal consequences! Pictures will help get the correct advice. BTW - I fix saws but tend to only cur firewood!
  24. If it is in the middle of a field or in the middle or a large garden...fill your boots, if it is near something of value, you may want to review this. It depends on what is around it and also if it has "a bit of a lean" in the right direction or not. A wise man knows his limitations as I am sure some bloke in the know once said!
