  1. Hi, I have a friend who might have a job coming up in a place called Nedging. I believe it's somewhere in the Stowmarket, Sudbury, Hadleigh triangle. I've warned him not to go that far into Suffolk but he won't listen Could anyone please help out with a tip site? He recons 2 loads of chip and two loads of wood (Thuja). Lovely old job. 2. Another one that the boss gets the privilege of doing. Petty much stripped by lunch despite the wind. Now absolutely pissing it down Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  3. I was even considering getting the Transit 470 and down plating it until I get my C licence but even those only seem to have 2.0 engines! Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  4. The local Ford dealer has had a "Promotional weekend". I test drove a new Transit 350 2.0 which they are trying to sell me. Nice van but I seem to be limited to a 2.0 130ps adblue engine (the brochure doesn't even list details of the 2.2 engines anymore). I'm not sure that it'll be man enough for tree work despite what the salesman says. I was thinking of switching from transits due to the mk8's heavy chassis weight - i reckon a new transit one stop tipper converted to an arb body carrying two men and tools will leave me with a legal payload of around 500kg, but switching to something like a Grafter/Cabstar will probably only increase that by 150kg. I'm resigned to the fact that i'll have to run overloaded until I can get some crew trained to CatC but any opinions on new transits would be appreciated. Cheers, Ed Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  5. That's very, very smart! Do you know the empty weight of that set up? I've been trying to decide what to get for a new truck for months now. The Mk8 Transit chassis weight is around 2T, so adding that body (even being mostly ali) must put your legal carrying weight to well under a ton. It's this and the poor Ford security that is swaying me away from a new Transit. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  6. I do agree but these blades did need another mm off. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  7. I did use Saturn until a few years back when on a couple of occasions the blades were coming back still with notches in the blades - probably better now. For TW150 blades, I now use SpectrumPlant but I wont be asking them to sharpen my CS100 blades again. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  8. It started doing the same as the old Honda engine - lack of power, smoking, back firing, then it wouldn't start at all. The trouble with these engines strapped to pedestrian grinders is that they often work at extreme angles. I made sure that the engine oil was always topped up but i guess that these cheaper engines are much less tolerable to working like this than a Honda or equivalent. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  9. true, at least for a few years. The Subaru is good quality and should last. The cost of both engines still come in less than one Honda but what I have learnt is that the down time of frequently replacing the crap engines should be factored into the decision of which engine. 10. An update on the alternative to Honda situation - don't buy Chinese, at least not the Evo420, it didn't last 2 months. I hope that yours is doing a bit better Redmoosefaction. I've had a Subaru engine on the machine for a few months now and can recommend these. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk

  13. I don't think it too severe at all. The lefty tw@t5 that bleat on about human rights make my blood boil! These criminals should forfeit all human rights, including the right to live if caught. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk

  15. After having my garage broken into last night, i'm increasing security. I'm also thinking of fitting one of those garage defenders. Does anyone know if these are any good or sure I go for a raising bollard? Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  16. Thanks Duncan, PM sent. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  17. Can anyone elaborate on this. I bought some racing bike oil from Halfords recently for a 13hp SG as it was the only 10w30 that they did. I'm now worried that I shouldn't be using it. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  18. Ask for Getafix.
  19. Probably is then, Narford isn't far from where Andy is based. Apparently you'll be having fun with some 100 year old Corsicans.
  20. Is that with Andy? If it is, my son Seb will be on the course with you.
  21. Sorry, can't do. The lefties haven't finished cuddling them yet!
  22. Agree, if you could still buy them in the UK, i'd still be using one. My first harness, bought in 2003, is still in every day use by the person that I gave it to.
  23. I've bought a Treehog TH5000 for my son to do his CS38 but he hates it. Fancy swopping and i'll give you the difference?
  24. Todays Willow
  25. Yeah, i found that out when i bought one several months ago. As you say, shiny nasty plastic which doesn't fit properly. I thought that I had managed to get it on the cylinder, with much struggle, but must have crushed part of it in the process. Just had to fit a new P&P and a proper boot. Can you sort the autotune carbs? If got a Husky topper that I could drop round.
