  1. I feel your pain. I also find that survey maps are ofter drawn with a fair amount of artistic interpretation. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. Already have my prize donation ready and it's triple the size I donated last year. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. It's personal preference. I prefer no spliced eye as I like to alternate which end of the rope I use. Others like the ease of attaching to an eye. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Your trying to push it so much that it must be yours Looks a nice little compact. I would if i had a yard to use it in. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. That's a ballsy step Tony. I wish you the very best. Some of my neighbours are from Bulgaria. Very nice people - hopefully they are all the same. Ed Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Try my best to ignore the paperwork monster. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. Totally agree with you Dean. I have quite a library building up. I treat tree with great respect. I try to increase my knowledge through self-study (which includes Arbtalk), CPD courses and back it up with the odd exam. Don't know if I would call myself a professional just yet as I know that there is a massive amount still to learn but i am at least heading in that direction. I see so many that start up in business that have just finished their year at college (and/or an intensive course to get the NPTC's) that portray themselves as professional and are very clearly not. 8. Yeah, that's not a certain now. I made enquiries with planning who initially said shouldn't be a problem but when my friend (who i has going in 50:50 on the 4 acres) asked they told him they might have issues with it. If i did buy it i'd then have high costs to secure it and put down about 100 yards of some kind of all-weather surface for an access road. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. I was hoping to get a share of 4acres of agricultural land near Cambridge where i could base a yard and start my own woods but it's already way over the guide price. I think that it's currently £15k per acre and still going. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. Found lots of these on the litter beneath Maples, Robinia & Pines. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Could be Flammulina velutipes, they usually show themselves when the temperature drops. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. No problem, it only needs two snips. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    Wind

 Poor old Fishy. He probably had a whole department of experts behind the scenes giving him the info but he will always be the one that got it wrong. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. It's called retrenchment. Couldn't say that I could explain it. Maybe a veteran tree needs to draw-in it's size as it probably then needs less energy to maintain itself. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. I loved the Zigzag for the brief time that i used it but I wont be getting this. Can't see the point - my ART positioner does the same thing, probably is cheaper, i can use any 13mm rope in it and it has swivel action. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. My flipline was failed once. Not because of the DA hook but because the mechanical rope grab that came pre-attached to the flipline wasn't CE marked although the actual flipline itself was. It took me about 2 hour trying to drill and remove the rope grab so that i could replace with a hitch climber set-up - I think the rope grab was safe enough! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Not from a customer but a supplier. Why does a small pack of sweets make me smile so much? Thanks Spectrum Plant. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. GnR at Wembley in 1991 was my first concert. I was them twice more after that at the MK bowl. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. Went to many gigs in my teens/20's but the all got eclipsed by ACDC a couple of years ago on the Black Ice Tour. The other memorable one was Extreme at a Monsters Of Rock because the crowd was so hostile to them, you couldn't watch the stage as you had to watch your head for flying bottles! I think that Aerosmith may of headlined that year. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

    Mossie bites

I seem to be getting at least two new bites every night but my wife gets none. Whats the best way of repelling them OR making my wife more attractive to the mossie. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. That thought crossed my mind as well when I read it. I think the issue here though is inexperienced people using chainsaws but until laws change that's not going to stop. 99% of the time i wear all the gear but my dad doesn't and after 50 years of using a chainsaw on a daily basis he still has all his limbs. Although I am surprised that he gets any chainsawing done due to the amount of times he has to stop to take a piss nowadays. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. Found these on my woodchip.
  23. I know it's short notice but i could use 1 or possibly 2 climbers this Friday (27th September) in south cambridgeshire Been helping a PHD student with leaf collecting from forest canopy trees. The trees are generally tall so big shot a line in and a pretty long ascent so experience with SRT may be beneficial (but not essential) as we each have to do several trees. PM me if interested. Thanks Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. I've been wanting to visit the Redwoods for years now. I'm going to commit myself and book flights for June/july next year. But what I need to know is: If I go for two weeks, how long do i need for the Redwoods and what other places/attractions should i visit whilst in northern California? What would you recommend that I do for accommodation - hotel, motel, lodge, RV? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Ed. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. You can probably do that on my Ducati Hypermotard. Only £5k. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
