  1. I've got a 1 year old one that's just needed a new diaphragm, not hugely impressed as it's not had that much stick, fortunately it's under Stihl's 2 year warranty, though it's only a year for businesses...
  2. I have done 12 tonnes a day of awkward softwood (very varied sizes etc) on a PTO powered Palax 35, but then i got paid on production so there was incentive!
  3. Excellent video! Nice takedown!
  4. Shiny stuff is a poor term for progress. Hauling yourself up a tree with a prussik or blakes just isn't efficient, that's why new kit comes out. Climbing on a HC with a VT, distel - whatever is just easier on your body, so you'll climb for longer, with less aching from pulling down on one side and tending your prussik. I'd never, ever use a prussik as opposed to a HC!
  5. It's probably because us Brits can handle a saw with a faster chain speed, anything above 20m/s and it's just too much over the wrong side of the Atlantic.
  6. I wouldn't worry if it's new since your training, i heard it's about to be taken out of the training as it's too intensive to learn for people completely new to climbing, it'll be run as a separate course i think. In the meantime hope you learn it and pass next time.
  7. What would be the benefit of say running a Oregon Powermatch bar on my 372 over the standard Husqvarna one? It'd be for felling and limbing up mainly.
  8. British Waterways - Surplus Grass Ground Maintenance Equipment - GoIndustry DoveBid That's the link to the auction site.
  9. So it's going to be nothing special - or if it is then everyone will already have a 201T as they're bored with Husqvarna's inability to meet demand by actually producing a worthwhile product.
  10. Got a rough postcode/village that it's near? Just seeing if it's commutable from where i am...always interested in woods work.
  11. It may be a bit harsh but what's keeping you in this area? There's more work, especially for trainee climbers down South. East Midlands is always going to be harder to get work in. How long have you been in this area? Best of luck with job hunting. Chris
  12. Hey, dmclimber is next. Due it asap! Chris
  13. Actually you're just plain worng, my insurance company (trust) required proof of my NPTC tickets. I suppose i could get someone to write me a letter saying "He's right good with chainsaws and stuff" Why didn't i think of that before forking out all the cash i have...
  14. PM Sent - thanks for offering this work out Nick. Chris
  15. I doubt they're Black Pops, aren't there only a couple of hundred left in the country. It burns okay if it's kept dry. I wouldn't sell anyone a full load of poplar though!
  16. Well that was a bloody stupid idea. Then again i've seen many examples of farmer's felling cuts and even when they don't use machinery they're just as likely to injure themselves.
  17. Leaf etc etc, rather than pure chip. Most companies will take up to (at most 15%)
  18. 120 Tonnes of "softwood, cordwood and some hardwood" What he actually should have put was, "make us a best offer for all the rubbish we can't sell for ourselves" And cash up front, what a joker.
  19. Joining ropes.
  20. Attaching tools to a line, preferable to the overhand as it drops straight out after detachment.
  21. Friction hitch, 8mm Armor Prus (spliced eye) Pro's - friction cord is super hard wearing, i prefer the distel to the vt right, just sits perfectly every time. Cons - cost of the spliced eye armor prus!
  22. If you could post groundsman rates and info on digs then that'd be great. Unless you want to reply to people individually.
  23. PM sent.
