  1. Email sent. Cheers, Chris
  2. 341 is underpowered on a 20" 362 is nicest on an 18" Looks like the 441, if you're pushed to a Stihl!
  3. Why?! The 372 is a class above the 361, and the newer 362 is no comparison. To compare anything from Stihl to a 372 you'll need to be looking at a 441. And you'll find that falls short.
  4. Just thought i'd post up a review whilst i remembered. I ordered an Oregon bar for my 372XP and a couple of chains. Firstly Rob was excellently priced, it's refreshing to see someone who specialises in an area but is also competitive! Secondly Rob's the service was excellent, there was no need to chase up my order, there was a slight delay in the shipment from Oregon to Rob but he kept me up to date with any information he had. All in all it was a combination of fantastic knowledge, service and product and Rob's been recommended to everyone i know who uses a saw! Chris
  5. Ah, excuse my oversight! The aluminium ones are adjustable!
  6. Just after some advice (from owners/users/sellers only please) I've decided to get some aluminium Distels, how does the sizing work? I'm 5' 10" or thereabouts and will be ordering them asap. Cheers, Chris

  8. As a quick aside to the statement from this page Mopani Sun Dried African Firewood 20Kg Sack - Sun Dried African Firewood - Mopani Firewood Like "compare this to domestic air dried woods at around 30% and domestic kiln dried wood at around 18 - 20%!" What utter balls! If their products (other than the finest African dropped branch firewood) is sold at 30% moisture then they'll be getting returns! And they have a rubbish way of drying wood, i've got Ash, Cherry and the like drying in a woodstore that's been down for 6 months @ 15-17% moisture. And i had Eucalyptus in my greenhouse baking away that was down to 8% moisture!
  9. Another email sent. Cheers Alex. Chris
  10. What size ring would you use for 13mm rope with 8mm cord for my hitch? Want to progress (?!) to a VT but have always felt a bit concerned about the sitback and it staying open... Cheers
  11. Larch, Ash and Oak...

  15. I don't use any, at all after 2 weeks, at the ABSOLUTE maximum.
  16. A guy from Treeworker said he had the sole and rand replaced for about £60 when i bought mine, that was partly what swung me towards getting these boots, as for where...call or email them? 01296 738459 [email protected]
  17. You've got a PM - and almost certainly some more work (I imagine your wife will despair!) Cheers Chris
  18. Hi all, My 372XP is coming up to a year old so i'm going to get it serviced, it's running rich currently so i thought it best to get it sorted. I've been to a couple of places, one who insisted that at a year old my saw needs a new air filter, new diaphragms for the carb, new fuel filter etc... The other says the carb would need a tune, new plug and a new fuel filter. I'm inclined to agree with the second person, not only on cost (the first place quoted nearly £100 for the work) but i honestly can't see new diaphragms being part of a yearly service. I've been in contact with spudulike who's busy fixing pretty much of all of arbtalk user's broken saws so is too busy for the turnaround i need, but was still really helpful. Should i be wary of places that tune 'by ear' rather than a machine? Any other advice for me? Cheers
  19. Hi all, I'm a self employed groundsman looking for more work in Sheffield and the surrounding area. I currently have my CS30 & 31, 38 & 39 and LANTRA chipper ticket, own ground saw, full PPE and climbing kit. I'm after any work, i've done alot of domestic, some commercial and some woodland work so a reasonable range of experience over the last 4 years. References from previous and current employers available on request if needed. Please reply via PM with your contact details and i'll be in touch asap! Many Thanks, Chris p.s - Also, if anyone has any contacts who may be interested, please post here or PM them to me.
  20. Fungus - Thanks for the confirmation! Handily it's what i told the client, just wanted to double check! Fortunately i'm steadily getting there with idents. Unfortunately they've decided (of their own accord) to take the tree down, circa 1980 Rowan, heavily butchered for most of it's life. I did advise them of it being manageable and such but as it has been present for a number of years and being close to a road etc they decided to opt for removal.
