  1. i think thats a problem with any system, but i suspect you'll be subject to random inspections so if u have over allowed inputing ur data when they inspect the meter would be 'under reading' but i do agree its a valid problem. For a simple sim card dialer they could make it upload to their system automatically. BUt i guess whatever system one uses there'll always be someone there to defraud it!! Log pile inspectors............. a new job for real wood perverts!!
  2. is it one of them ercher cab heaters?
  3. no no no no no!!!! I thought i'd done some daft things but thats just nuts! I wouldn't have balls to do that!!!
  4. This is true certaintly on commercial systems (which i'm hoping to get into if i do install it!), somehow it calculates the Kw produced from the temperature difference between the hot outfeed and the cooler infeed to the boiler. You then have to go onto website, input data and they send you the money. I'll be burning whatever i can lay my hands on around the farm, seems ridiculous to have to buy from supplier but i guess their concern is people might not source it from a sustainable or environmentally friendly way.
  5. na dogs mouths are sterile, its a scientifically proven fact!!! Just think of it being environmentally friendly and your helping reduce the food waste mountain!!!
  6. I had the same problem, like you couldn't find anything with higher rating so ended buying tri-axle trailer to solve the problem. Not a cheap alternative but the only one i could find.
  7. clearly looks to me the horse is providing the power for it.......... not sure i agree with the comment at the bottom of the video on the youtube page about hydraulic splitters not being quicker????
  8. i always make our bread, but most of the time i cheat and use a bread maker. But when i do get an hour or two spare i do love to make it by hand!!! So much for satisfying!! Off to buy the book u suggested need some new interesting reading material!!!

  10. i know the exact feeling!! Its even more of a rush when someone does actually walk off with ur quad bike and then ur following the gps like some sas trooper to find it and retrieve it. U never get back to sleep for a good 12hrs after all the excitement and adrenalin!!!! Glad nothing stolen though!!
  11. its location?
  12. u do that with logs aswell, we always shove a bucket or two of sand into a corn lorry first!!! I'd say its worth that for it, going on what i've seen some people charge!
  13. I've not seen many cherrys that big, took me a while to grasp they did actually grow that big!!! NIce bit of warmth out that lot!!!

  18. a big box turned up on a courier today with the wife's name on.......i'm smiling as a box that big which might contain my xmas present looks very promising!!!!!:biggrin:
  19. As with anything 'environmentall friendly' u end up normally paying a premium for it IMO. But the demand is created by the part of the market that cannot support itself, ie the avergae homeowner doesn't want to spend the weekend getting cold and dirty chopping wood. Hence there's a very high demand for it, but for those of us who love it, it still a cheap source of heat........... all the green energy schemes are doing is hopefully ensuring the goverment meets its green targets it has agreed to meet? And if we can use those scheme's to ur advantage then why not, but i don't think u'll ever make money from them? IMO Would u agree?
  20. Now i'm gonna chuck in a thought here, there was a thread a while back about a chap who'd done his training course on chainsaws, think he said he'd done CS30/31 but don't quote me, yet after the 'training' he still didn't know he had to put petrol in the with 2 stroke oil to fill the fuel tank instead he mixed 2stroke with chain lub. Now tell me if i'm wrong but surely that shold be the first basic part of your initial training course? And if the training misses basic instruction like this what does it actually say about the quality of the rest of the information you are taught??? Realised i've probably lined my neck up with the guilotine of death, and am gonna get teared to pieces but i think its a point that needs to be considered?:confused1:
  21. looks hard work bending over holding onto that!!!
  22. Hi I'm just considering the same thing, a 60kw eco angus for our big farmhouse. We used to have a farm 2000 wood bolier for 25 years, then when it rotted out and oil was 8p/litre and my father was diagnosed with parkinsons we went to oil burner. Now it cost a fortune to have the heating on for just 4 0r 5 hours a night so i'm looking at doing the same. I am unsure of grants, but i have been advised that if i can prove its for commercial use, ie i use it to heat something on the farm aswell like the employee's mess room, i can get into the commercial RHI which then makes it worth the extra cost of fitting in my eyes i think. Now i'm hoping not to have to buy much if any wood for it, we shold have plenty around the farm, but somebody on here and i can't remember who said to claim the grant i have to purchase the wood from a 'registered fuelwood supplier' which obviously would never make it worth doing? Anyone else heard this? Some interesting stuff coming out of this, i'm hoping the plumber who is accredited will allow me to do some of the ' meneal work ' to save a few quid but who knows?
  23. i asked the same question, heres the thread link (i hope!) hope this answers the question! http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/33811-chainsaw-bow-saw-why.html
  24. seen a landrover with some studding bar cut to length holding the front radius arms onto the front axle. Owner didn't see the problem with using some 4.4 grade threaded bar instead of 10.9 grade bolts........... refused to let me change it. I refused to work on it for fear of an accident and then him blaming me, so he took it elsewhere!
