  1. Broken jaw meant christmas was through a straw... does that count?
  2. Yesterday was the Boxing day "Hoot", morning hunting - afternoon walked up Woodcock shooting for a bunch of families that shoot/hunt/socialise together locally. We had a brilliant day, all turned out in Tarporley for the hunt (even Sky News was there I am told) and then 7 guns, me (broken jaw = 3 months of shooting) and all the non shooters turned up for shooting and a field lunch. 13 woodcock and 1 pheasant, not much of a bag but wouldn't trade it for the best devon day. 1 young lad and one distinctly old lad both got their first woodcock though no right/lefts this year. Fine company, fine sport, fine drink - what more could you ask for? Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year folks!
  3. New Swarovski scope for the rifle I am building. I feel so spoiled! That and tickets to the queens cup polo finals made my day. Appy kippers chaps
  4. Rooster Cogburn was written for JW. He basically invented type-casting
  5. Top marks mate for doing that. Nothing like that but I do river clearance and GWCT work when needed. I'm on the callout list for deer injured in road traffic accidents.
  6. Tend to agree but we are talking about Westerns... made in America, starring Americans, about America
  7. I didn't like the new true grit, grew up on the duke, and no one can play John Wayne like John Wayne. It was just pointless to remake Top 5 The Unforgiven High Noon Rio Bravo High Plains Drifter The Good The Bad And The Ugly
  8. Hahahahahaha, I think you just dislocated my jaw! I'm loving the jump/skip slid at the end big man.
  9. Fair play SkyHuck, it's a funny one for me, I hate swearing in front of women (I also don't like them drinking pints) but I condone violence. Lal fain chiv yen
  10. 1:54. His head hit the deck first. As you have not answered the question I have posted twice I assume you think it is fine to use violence in front of small children? This is not the wild west. Violence (n) 1. Physical force exerted for the purpose of violating, damaging, or abusing: crimes of violence. 2. The act or an instance of violent action or behavior. 3. Intensity or severity, as in natural phenomena; untamed force: the violence of a tornado. 4. Abusive or unjust exercise of power. 5. Abuse or injury to meaning, content, or intent: do violence to a text. 6. Vehemence of feeling or expression; fervor. Why do people think that "rough justice" is fair? Mob law is the mother of tyrants.
  11. Whoop whoop. 'Dats da sound of da police. Where do you stop? It's alright to throw a kid head first onto concrete? Is it alright to do that in front of children?! It is assault whichever way you look at it. He did not make an any persons arrest, it sure as hell was not in self defence. He didn't even warn the boy. I think the conductor should be fired for encouraging that/taking no measures to stop it on the train.
  12. Pleading ignorance, but if you bid on something do you not have to pay?
  13. Mob law is no law. People saying "Swearing in front of kids makes it alright to kick him off". Do you honestly think that barrelling someone out of a train is a model citizen's action? If that kid had a heart attack due to a condition and had died, would we be treating this differently? The conductor was wrong for letting a member of the public use force. Who knew what the "big guy" was capable of? However, I agree that he should have been removed from the train, but through the proper methods, not by someone throwing their weight around.
  14. Yeah, Robert Ruak is another good one if you like big hairy things trying to kill you! Ray Mears's shop is the cheapest place for the Swazi man book.
  15. How did I miss this thread. Here's a few of my favourites; 7 Pillars of Wisdom - T E Lawrence Hugh Falkus, a life on the edge - Chris Newton Three in Norway, by two of them - Can't remember The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber - Hemmingway Death in the long grass - Peter Hathaway-Capstick A Man Called Lion; The life and times of John "Pondoro" Taylor - Peter Hathaway-Capstick Probably the best book I have read recently is "Untamed: The Extraordinary Adventures of the Swazi Man." by Davey Hughes. The man who started the Swazi brand of hunting/farming wear and a hero of mine. An exellent book about everything, you should all read it! http://www.swazi.nz Untamed - The Extraordinary Adventures of the Swazi Man, Books Sam
  16. Don't know if it's my laptop or what but when I click on the "Home" Button (top left) it sends me to the forum
  17. Laaaand of hoooope and gloory....
  18. Insurance is bloody cheap! I think mine was £314 public liability and tool cover?
  19. If you want good, fast growing, stuff for firewood have you thought about doing coppice? You could have it on rotation so you have a constant supply, it's easier to manage (IMHO) than coniferous stuff and looks a lot nicer
  20. That post makes no sense to me at all!
  21. I've seen Jeb Corliss stuff before, not as original as what the frencies are doing! Grinding the crack is good though
