  1. I don't know about ghosts as such. I know I once felt a "presence" so to speak. I was spotting deer in the highlands (near Achnahaird ) and a thick mist came down from nowhere really, I was well and truly buggered for where I was pretty soon, so I did what seemed sensible and sat under a big rock, waiting for the sea winds to blow it off. I got pretty restless about an hour or so later and decided that it wouldn't be far to a beck that led to the sea. I wandered around for another hour, maybe two, and didn't find one. So I found the highest point I could and tried to get above the fog (it occasionally works). While going up this incline, I felt an urge to break to the left - down the hill. I don't know what it was, or why I decided to follow it, but I did, a while later I found the sea at Reiff. I asked one of the local fisherman about it. He said it would be a Selkie, and that they helped a few people. I tend to believe him, I don't know what else it would be.
  2. I use a 270 with a dipper switch. It is fantastic for everything, though I don't gun mount it. The bigger ones are bugger all use in a truck. Surefire Torches (Tactical type) are excellent too. I have an 6P original with a blue filter I use for blood tracking at night, though I have used it in a "storming" grip with a .22 for rabbits. I'm not a huge fan of rifle mounted lamps, you have to point the gun everywhere you want to look, very bad practice with a rifle
  3. Lightforce is the only lamp worth looking at.
  4. I actually didn't name her... but every truck should have a name...
  5. So he wants us all to spend our own free time doing his project for him, but he can't even be arsed to take 5 minutes to sign up on here and post it himself. I believe "stick it" is the term.
  6. Up on the moors today and took some picture of "Bridget" as she is now called

  9. Thanks for this chaps. The road does not have any weight limitation signs, or anything else for that matter. It is a sub 4m job according to the OS, aopparerntly there could be a case of "extraordinary use" as it was only designed to carry "normal" farm traffic. Talking to Cumbria County Council atm so we shall see what happens. Thanks, Sam
  10. No... everyone got the joke apart from you, go to bed and come back tomorrow, you will see the funny side
  11. If you gave me a grand everytime someone asked me that I might be able to insure mine... just. The bane of being 18 :'( I asked the insurance company about fitting a CAT 1 Thatcham/TOAD alarm and immobiliser fitted, see how much my premium would drop. It doesn't. Because it's a modification I would have to pay an extra £178! She refused to admit it would reduce the chance of it being stolen...
  12. A Pic from taking some firewood for home If any has or knows or a full or rear 90 headling can they let me know please
  13. Cracking part of the world, spent a lot of time up there. You didn't perchance know Ewan Scobie did you?
  14. Tom2020 works around that area, he might be able to help out
  15. I own some pretty good knives and axes etc. Always wanted a tomahawk, and an umbrella sword... I fenced for a while when I was at school so I have a couple of swords too, just in case I ever have to duel any one again. I own a coracle that I built myself too actually, that's a bit weird. Some bows, and a mean looking African club called a "Rungu" complete my armoury of stuff that doesn't go bang.
  16. I've been stalking this morning just wearing a fleece! It's probably not even that cold... southern softies. :001_tt2:
  17. The thing is there is LOTS of people, especially around that time, that did stuff that was/is just taken for granted, yet you get an MBE for kicking a pig's stomach around...
  18. He was rather good at it. Apparently they didn't use different maps until GPS etc. came in Which is rather impressive given he just had a furry hat, a sextant and pencil. I have some copies of his North west territories maps on the wall, very detailed and a very good talking point!
