  1. I’ve got to the stage now with the new ones of selling them on once out of warranty- had several rebuilt and they had been greased regularly. they get used a lot so I budget for a couple a year - the used ones can still make decent money back if in working order
  2. It’s what vacuum cleaners were invented for 😁
  3. Just climbed out of some snotty, slippery conifers being retopped - Raining cats and dogs and I’d forgotten how much I hate working in the rain! Luckily I did them last time so decent foot and hand holds left but I’m soaked to the skin, exhausted, pi…ed off and want to finish and go home to get dry ☹️
  4. Oh yes, let it go free 👍 was very surprised as we are in the suburbs, over a mile to open countryside. Mind you we had a few partridges in the road, two mallards sitting on front door mat and a muntjac in the garden which is fenced in all round, 6ft high!
  5. I’ve had a pheasant, Jay, one of my cats before. Only had one fox, rest are too clever unfortunately ☹️
  6. Nah definitely a two stroke engine no elastic band 😂😂
  7. Morning all - rare Saturday off for me 👍 starting with second breakfast in the pub at 10-30 then a music festival from around midday. Chucking it down with rain most of yesterday, last night and up till early afternoon to gonna be a boggy one ☹️ Wife’s in a wheelchair so could be interesting to say the least!
  8. Even if it’s just “lying around” it still belongs to someone and taking without permission is theft. Check with the landowner as it may be due to be collected, left as habitat etc. alternatively they may be happy someone will take it and save them a job 👍
  9. Stunning scenery! Where is that?
  10. Or like going down on your sister - tastes the same but it’s just not right!
  11. Was that a Grafter rather than Canter (Mitsubishi)? Not driven either so can’t help with your choice unfortunately
  12. Morning all - after working solo yesterday in stifling heat, tidying up neglected grass and hedges at a doctors surgery, I’m happy to have today off. Had an early wander round the local bootsale and shortly off to a foodie festival. Hopefully there will be beer there as well so we can sit in the sun and relax 🍻🍷👍
  13. Rotatech or Gator Oils - similar pricing and quality
  14. Around £320 for the 600mm long
  15. The newer stihl hedge cutter heads, white ones are made of cheese - just nowhere near as good as they were so for this alone I’d be looking at other brands. Happy with my Echo but only had for 4 months so far. Shindaiwa strimmer bought last year has also given good service so far
  16. My mechanics code reader wouldn’t fit/work with my 2007 daily - he had to borrow a specialist one. id be looking at earth connections first and as doobin, wrote above, a short somewhere. Italian electrics can be a real head scratcher even for an experienced auto electrician
  17. Definitely with you there - but every generation grew up with “the best music”! But look how popular the 80s revival gigs are - been to a few and whilst some of the artists weren’t my thing, great days out nonetheless. have seen The Beat, Selecter recently, along with Specials, Madness, UB40 years ago, as well as my more usual rock favourites
  18. Seen ELO three times - excellent live. Fleetwood Mac four times I think. Only about four songs/artists I don’t remember from that chart - 78 was a very good year for music, or maybe it’s just rose tinted glasses?
  19. Looks like a Whitebeam so probably about as big as it’s going to get. I’ll leave others with more knowledge than me to comment on the roots, but I wouldn’t be cutting them at all.
  20. I’ve sold a few bits to wood turners. It’s not the most interesting timber but if it has a bit of pattern and varying colours, season it for 3 years plus and it should have some value
  21. Yes this 👍 I use stihl battery blower 95% of the time, Echo PB770 for big clear ups. stihl quality is definitely dropping - the hedge cutter heads for the KM are made of cheese 😡 Use till out of warranty then sell and replace
  22. Same here - predator 360 does the majority of the jobs, HB20 comes out when access is wide enough and the extra power will speed the job up. Grinding is probably the most profitable work we do but like you sadly not much about lately ☹️
  23. Location will help, as will offer of beer tokens as decent quality woods like these usually make money for firewood or woodturning 👍

  25. It’s days may be limited as they don’t like heavy pruning as this sets off a cycle of rot pockets. However I would cut off everything that clearly has no life left later in the year, September/October onwards when it’s getting ready for the dormant season. In the short term help it by removing grass around the base, at least 3ft all round, lay plain cardboard down and mulch with well rotted woodchips, maybe some seaweed if you have access to any, bit of manure mixed in possibly. im sure others with more knowledge than me will be able to add to this 👍
