  1. I got a pair of Stihl chaps/leggings, combersome bloody things that keep unzipping and difficult to do back up. I only got them when I want to saw some logs, pop them on & off quick, but walking in them..... forget it, total crap. Always had Husqvarna trousers and they last me years, the last new pair are crap. First hour of light use all the fronts are scragged and the stitching runs like a ladder, quality is very poor so the last time I will pay for them. I wish someone would make light indistuctable ones with wear patches and breathable so you dont sweat like a pig. we are all caught in the trap of having to buy what they say we need, instead of good old common sense stuff
  2. truly amazing, where do you start I wish I had your talent
  3. MAY? what about birds breeding? this has stopped work plenty of times, a friend does survey work and if a nest is found your stuffed
  4. he could turn out to be a good asset as long as he learnt from this, as he was new to the job the climber should have been looking out for him & making sure everything was safe even if it did take a little longer to do the job. That's what training is all about, we all know we could go a job quicker without a new bloke to look after but give him a chance. were you there? if so why didnt you watch him? if you were not there your regular guy should have been looking out for him. This was a wake up call for him & your climber, it could have been on his head!!
  5. travellers if you can call them that, a farmer friend had his dogs poisoned and they came back next night. Police wont even go near them & scared to enter their caravan sites looking for your stuff so there is no hope. It's gone for good:thumbdown:
  6. normally the first fault you had is an easy fix, for the coil to fail on your saw which is pretty new really I find it hard to believe and think the dealer was making some fast easy money telling you incorrect info, I have had the same on a few saws over the years and its always a wire either breaking where its crimped to a connector or just pulled off somewhere out of sight. A quick strip would have found it. Of course I maybe wrong:sneaky2: It's a bit like taking your car to the garage for a service, from then on it plays up:confused1: Good luck, hope you get it sorted soon, there's nothing so frustrating and a sure way to spoil your day, stay cool & dont throw it over the fence
  7. :blush:There is an old saying, never lend your tools because no-one looks after them like you do!
  8. The piston looks new, the bore you cant really see whats going on. I think if he has been using an old saw in the past he maybe used to starting that & it sounds like he dont use them much (IMO) and if you get a saw off ebay it would make sense to strip it anyway, even if it did start easy but thats just me, I like stripping things :-) He didnt say if it was a cheap non runner or even almost new?
  9. a small mig originally bought to repair the van floor so it paid for itself over & over. now stands redundant. gas oxy/acetylene (full size and mini bottle) left me account go so when these are empty I cant see me ever using them again, great for the odd job like brazing the galvanised watering can that burst in the winter last year (galv & welding, yes I know) All very handy when you need them but just takes up room when you dont.
  10. Helliloggers great stuff, Shelby in the swamps too. Old shelby dont worry about chain saw boots and he still has ten toes lol
  11. There is HUGE money in treatments & pharm companies are often linked if you go back far enough to the likes of petrochemicals & monsanto etc, they all have their fingers in the pie somewhere along the line. All you hear of is "treatment" never or hardly ever do they mention stopping the cause! WHY, because it is very big business and if we the normal joe blogs found out the real cause it would effect the economy so much they wouldnt know what to do. Instead they just carry on making so much money we just put up with being primed by the media that everything is ok and all foods are safe because it's on a super market shelf. I dont know if anyone here heard of Ian Crane? he dis a good talk on why fuel is so expensive it's here Ian R Crane - Peak Oil: Myth or Reality? (Powered by CubeCart) Of course you have to make your own mind up if he is right but this guy dont mess about .

You cant go wrong for the price, look after it & it will look after your wallet, last you years
  13. I been looking for a while, couple of years in fact on & off. The pro seems to be too easy to hit and was too expensive so that was out, there are some nice neat looking ones but reading reviews it was a mine field with so many swings & roundabouts. In the end I found one that fitted the bill and after a few nights searching as you do I found one on ebay starting at £49! So watched that start to rise and looked on Amazon & found the same one new Amazon.co.uk: Used and New: Drift HD170 Stealth Action Camera So ordered that and watched the ebay s/h one reach the same price and the fools are still bidding:confused1: There are some good tips on Drift HD170 Stealth Camera - 1080p POV - Drift Innovation BUT do look around because the prices are all over the place, no doubt at some time they will be cheaper but I had a good deal and got it when I wanted it. Looking forward to trying it out on all sorts of things so you may even get to see it working
  14. Yes I do, when the saws are used before they go back on the shelf they are cleaned, checked over sharpened greased oiled and when I am happy it goes away ready for the next time. When it's sitting doing nothing any little oil leak will show up and can be sorted before it gets worse. The outcome is my saws last a long time & I dont want or need the latest model & going from past experience the older saws are better in many ways anyway or is that just me?
  15. pretty good husky copy but who would buy a saw from china:confused1: Or would even want one from there free:laugh1::lol:
  16. always amazes me why people get into a bidding frenzy and pay more for s/h than new? (seen it on other items not saws I must add) I was at a famers market years ago and they were auctioning runner beans in boxes, prices were good until a coach load of day trippers pulled in and they were buying them at twice the price you could by beans for in your local veg shop, plus they had a bloody big box full to get rid of. Crazy folk and with ebay most of the time you can add £15-£20 postage
  17. I use 2 ways a lot, they will be an asset to anyone on here but there is one down side that no one has mentioned yet. As they are licence free they are becoming very popular so if your working near kids (or anyone else) using the same frequency they will hear you & you will hear them which could at times not only be frustrating but also could be very dangerous. I know you have 8 channels to play with and these can also be split so you have many more, so in theory there shouldnt be a problem. I moved onto the licensed radios and never get any problems like interference or people chatting away on your channel. It's a great idea and wish everyone using these the very bast as they are much safer but just bear in mine your transmition is open to all!
  18. got one in the fridge so will be in there now (Rattlers, supporting Kernow) Happy New Year all
  19. Agree with you & one here Husqvarna 254 , 300th aniversary edition full working order | eBay Looks like he got his Stihl but no comparison & interesting to see how he gets on
  20. many moons ago, I used a film developing measure bottle to measure accurately oil (50-1) Then made the big mistake of washing traces of oil out of the measure with petrol.... result- it attached the plastic and left it opaque and not clear see through. It was before the days of oil coming in fancy easy measure bottles. The saw was new, very noisy compared to todays standards, no front guard no break, BUT it did cut tons of fire wood over the years and left me with ringing ears, fingers that wouldnt work but great fun was had! I swapped it for a cement mixer many years later.
  21.: dealers are not making a fortune on a pallet load of Aspen, so come on Aspen make it cheaper and shift more
  22. as far as i can see all helmet manufactures condemn stickers on their helmets, its only down to the adhesive! I have used helmets way past their recommended dates and the UV breaks them down far quicker than a sticker does. Maybe they just dont "their" helmet advertising something like an oil sticker or any other advert. Before shelf life dated a helmet would last until it either broke, the lining fell apart or you fancied a change. Another ploy to keep the ££ going around and us all poor
  23. what happened to the good old days when a dealer was happy to sell a saw and look after you afterwards, they wanted the cash as much as you wanted that nice new saw & if you cut your leg off everyone accepted it as a calculated risk and was careful. all this H&S lark is just making jobs for the boys :-)
