  1. I had bad fuel years ago from BP, had to strip a mixer and flush the tank out just when I was about to lay a floor. There was water in it? From the same garage there was always water in my pre filter on the van so I stopped using the garage & know since plenty of others had similar problems. The trouble is you can pass any forecourt now and cars are cuing like they are giving fuel away. All the supermarkets know this and it they put the price up to 155p per litre now, tomorrow people would still be buying it. The days of not buying from the most expensive garage has gone, people dont care and just fill up. When kids walk past 10p on the road and cant be bothered to pick it up because "it's worthless to them" we are on a downward spiral. If everyone stood up and stopped buying fuel......... in the ideal world I know. Moan over :-)
  2. Wood Peckers!! We all know they dont nest in a nest box dont we? Read on. I made a long box 2 foot long and 9" square with a 2" hole near the top and a lift off lid to inspect. Then I filled it with foam (from a can) I fixed the box on the trunk about 15 foot up and had a woodpecker looking within two days, it was hollowed out and they successfully reared young. Well worth a try if you have them about and if you havent any in the area why not encourage them with a custom made box filled with foam. Good luck
  3. well you can only blame the one in charge who clearly hasnt a clue if they all pulled the long rope it would have gone easy, not a clue. I seen them once when a car stalled and caught fire, you would think with all the training it would have been simple but no... so many rules to follow and in that case too many chiefs, by the time they did hit the fire the car was a right off. Ok no one was hurt but I dread to think if someone was stuck in there when they umed & ared what to next. As previously said No Common Sense
  4. I hope they catch the bastards too, lets hope there is some old Kernow law that lets you cut off body parts. The only way to stop them. There is no justice in the rest of the UK, there is a new building near me almost finished now and they have to leave the lights on all night....? why. So if anyone breaks in and injures themselves they cant make an insurance claim it was dark!! That is true it came straight from the horses mouth. Crazy world eh
  5. we all been there, do as Jonesie says, just remember it will take a good few pulls but will fire, just dont throw it against the wall :-)

  7. How would you rate a Stihl 020AV compared to the newer top handle saws? I have read many + & - with the 200T & 020T, not much on the Husky though?
  8. There isnt one, you dont get cuts you can stick a plaster on. All the advice you read on here take on board, most use them every day and know what they are talking about. good luck & safety first PS; Sorry I am a bit late replying to this lol only just read how far you got.... well done
  9. I stopped the car once to open a gate, drove through, went back to shut the gate and as I turned a limb came down that would have put a huge ridge in the roof, probably down to seat level. Scary
  10. Took trhe pipe out & checked it all over, filter is new but emptied the tank to see how dirty it was but very clean. Put is all back together and started as normal, great until you go to let it tick over and need to keep blipping the throttle to keep it running, even after adjusting the carb? with the tickover screw all the way it it still wont run on its own. Arr your thinking the low mixture, I know! as you know there is only limited adjustment on the H needle which was ok, but the L needle was set as best I could to stop it cutting out. Thinking back this is why I took the carb off and sprayed & blew it all out a few weeks ago, it ran nicely then at first but soon went back to the old ways. Anyway, hedge was finished but now I have to sort out the motor, any ideas would be most welcome Thanks
  11. Many thanks Jonesie, I think the filter is pretty new I would have changed it but the pipe is worth looking at, will do first light in the morning. Thanks again ;-)
  12. Ok I know this is an easy one for you guys, I have cured many hickups but this one has me stuck and I need to get it running right to finish off a hedge urgent. My problem is my pole hedge cutter will start as normal, runs ok when cold then seems like it is being starved of fuel then gets a burst then staves then another short burst if you get what I mean. It is a constant fiddle with the throttle just to keep it running. New plug new air filter and took the carb off and thoroughly cleaned that, taking apart washing and blowing out with airline. thinking this would work as it always has done, this time I am stuck. Any ideas please:thumbup1: (not ideas like buying a new one:001_tt2:) Thanks
  13. Thanks worth trying that one, how long is you battery lasting?. I know they say two hours but that is under "Ideal" conditions and a selling point.
  14. Thought I would share this with you after seeing some in the £200 mark, this little unit is cheap enough to drop. Found on the site with all the nicked saws:001_tt2: RC MINI HELICOPTER MICRO VIDEO CAMERA CAM HELI PLANE on eBay (end time 10-Feb-11 12:01:24 GMT) I think I will get one just to give it a go:001_rolleyes:
  15. we should all be encouraged to use this by the goverment as an eco product, not just available to pro's but public too, everyone needs access to this but sadly we are not in an ideal world and this will remain hard to get, over priced and taxed to the hilt. Just like electric cars, this fuel will be kept on the edge and not marketed 100% sorry guys that is my opinion
  16. I never used one but you wont be disappointed I'm sure, the only thing you may find strange is an auto return stop switch (so I have heard) You may even be converted to Husky as long as it's sharp (take a file) And above all, have a safe warm break up there
  17. wish they were they fast when I rang them but a good result all the same. Hope the magistrate hangs the bastards but I fear not and they will just carry on elsewhere
  18. A mini lol my legs are too long but I did have one once upon a time long long ago but in them days petrol was less than 35p a Gal............ Arr them good old days :-(
  19. We all want that I know but at what cost? A few weeks ago I drove passed a machine parked up that has been working in the river, they have been working there for a week or so on & off a 360 and 20 ton dumper. Both parked on top of a river bank in a well light area. one evening not even dark I seen 2 guys with two 25L drums carrying them from a car parked 10 metres away so knew something was up, I drove pasted and turned around and parked up opposite to see what they wre up to and guess what ............. I dialed 999 asked for police and told them all the deatails and mine, a car was on the way said the lovely girl on the phone.... bearing in mind there are 3 big police stations all within 3 miles, (1 within 1/4 mile, 1 within 1 mile) I waited 15 mins and not a sign of blue lights, there were in fact three blokes all late 20's who loaded 7 FULL 25L drums into the back of their car, in the boot on the back seats so it was stinking of fuel I imagine. They drove off and I manage a photo on my phone, then I went on my way and seen two bobbys on the beat in the next village so stopped and told them the story, he said on his radio he heard they just arrived, making it just over 25 mins from when I called in. Out came my phone, he looked at pictures of the car weighed down with diesel and said they would get a good image from that no problem...... his next comment left me a bit stuck for words and wondering "what side the law is on" He said as there were no reports of stolen diesel no crime had been committed but if the water board whos plant the fuel was taken from reports it then we will be in touch. I just filled up my car it cost me £60 in Morrisons at 118.5 per litre:confused1: Next time I may as well take a drum to the first plant parked up and fill it, no crime as long as it's not reported stolen:thumbup1: What a load a testicles eh As much as this is hard to believe I can assure you it is very true, sad as I have to say.
  20. The law as they say is an ass How they can get away with so much crime amazes me, even when they know who does the crime it dont get followed through. May the bastards who steal for us small ones die a very slow death
  21. Like a hot knife through butter, or faster lol

They are expensive and rarely last more than 12 months, but are worth every penny in my book. I agree all the way, out of the box just like slippers and very good support, I have lived in mine and really are the best I ever worn. They do last me longer than a year but all depends on where your working I suppose.
  23. Husq every time for me, cuts fast & easy to keep in top condition IMO some swear by Stihl, some by others but for me it is husqvarna and never had any reason not to
  24. I am sure I seen them microdot system in a supermarket (probably tesco in cornwall) and a lot less than £20, next time I am down that way I will check it out. All my tools are engraved, it dont stop them being nicked but if you spot them you have more of a chance. I had a small boat and trailer nicked, went to report it but noone in the station so had to drive the 2 hrs home, didnt report it when i got home thinking a waste of time (Big Mistake) about 4 years later I found the boat on the trailer now painted white and up for sale with just a phone number. I rang it as if interested and he said he bought it from someone else (yer right, all sounded fishy) I never got the boat back, police said I left reporting it too late so the bady wins yet again. I hope the person who took it and his mates who helped him all drowned and that would be too good for them. We all need police but they dont seem to help when you need them, even when they are handed it on a plate for them. Who said Crime dont Pay?
