  1. I'll look into the wallenstein. I imagine they might be slightly put my budget though? split a load of pine rings which have been sat there the best part of a year, as well as some nice sycamore. Good to get it cleared up if anything! Struggling with pricing, seems to be so much variation. I don't want to be a busy fool! But I do want to be busy....
  2. I've actually borrowed the venom 22t to split a load for myself today. Real impressed with it, the 2017 model seems to have a built in table which would be really handy. I'll more than likely purchase one myself. Need to source and split some stuff ready for next winter...
  3. Ive been using a rock machinery venom 22t the last couple of days which I'm impressed with.
  4. Sorry, should have stated, self propelled. Preferably something trailer mounted or easily movable.
  5. What kind of splitters are out there in the £1500 - £2000 bracket? New or second hand if that would provide a much better machine. Thinking of dipping my toe into the firewood world. Cheers!
  6. Are you still looking for climbers and groundies? Me and another experienced climber friend of mine may be interested. Thanks
  7. Two experienced subby climbers looking for work. Ipswich, Suffolk based but happy to work anywhere as long as rate permits etc. Full kit, 4x4, van, trailer, chipper, saws etc. Between us we have CS30, 31, 35, 38, 39, 40 as well as utility tickets, chipper, cscs, ipaf, first aid, spraying and signage tickets and have been in the industry over 16 years having carried out a vast array of differing work. To anybody looking for either just two climbers or a subby setup that can deal with customers etc please pm me. Leon Sent from my iPad
  8. Sit them in a tub of vinegar for a day or two...
  9. Thank fook I'm not wearing saw trousers today! Still got plenty of hard graft to do though, better get plenty of water ready...
  10. I've got an opinel 8 which I always have on me. The clippers obviously a lot stronger not being a folder, I've stuck mine in pieces of wood and smashed them with another lump to split things Etc and never broke one... And if you do break it they're only a tenner! The carbon steel is easier to sharpen being a softer steel whereas the stainless will hold an edge longer...
  11. You won't get a better knife for the price. Brilliant little things, I buy the clipper usually when I lose them! A bit like the opinel, just a cheap knife that works.
  12. What does the rest of that pulley system look like? At the moment I'm just using a cambium saver with a pulled clipped on but looking to simplify it...
  13. May be an option along with my blower lol
  14. Haven't been out with the shotguns for a long time but I'm getting back into air rifle shooting, took a nice pigeon out the bottom of the garden yesterday... Fried with a bit of garlic, salt, pepper and olive oil... Even the girlfriend was surprised that pigeon tastes rather nice!
  15. Turns out the saw still does the same bloody thing! I'm running out of ideas, blocked air line?
  16. Love my werewolves but could do with being a bit more waterproof...
  17. Took thr carb off the 170, took it to pieces, left it to soak in carb cleaner for a bit then blew it off with the air line. Started up perfectly but will have to stick the bar back on and give it a good in to see if it's cured it. Plenty of grit came out with the carb cleaner! The blower, I can even get the bloody carb off, it's an old machine and the carb didn't even want to slide along to studs at first, eventually freed it up but there's not enough room to slide it off and I can't unhook the throttle. May have to take the plastic handle off so I'll do that when I've got more time.
  18. What did you pay for these? One of my rear leaf springs is fooked so may as well uprate em.
  19. I've got Friday off so I think a day of tinkering is in order. I'll take the carb off both the 170 and blower and see if that solved anything. Thanks for your help
  20. Never heard of a tank breather, where can I find this lol?
  21. Whipped the exhaust off, pulled it over slowly so I could see the piston properly, didn't notice anything abnormal, rings looked okay too. So what's next lol?
  22. I'll whip the muffler off and check that tomorrow. Okay I'll look into that. Carb will probably need a good clear out anyway judging by the state of the blower! Got it cheap though so can't complain if I can get it running properly. Cheers!
