  1. The table comes with their other 22t venom machine but it was £1800. I’ll report back but I was more than happy with thr 22t venom I used so hoping mine isn’t much different.
  2. £100 a cube in sunny Suffolk.
  3. I've literally just ordered a Rock Machinery V series 22t splitter. Same as the one I used before but uses a 'jd' engine and has no built in table but £500 cheaper! Figured I could knock a table up myself... Now to get plenty of timber in and get splitting! Want to get 50 cube stored and seasoned ready for next winter.
  4. Cleaned and checked all my climbing kit today. Mk3 zigzag looked absolutely fine after 2 years of use...
  5. I could pick straight stuff out no bother. Straight into bags would be worth it then deliver straight from his yard but it's been sat outside in the wet so not ready for the customer although plenty of it is seasoned. I keep getting the odd person ask for firewood even though I've not advertised as I'm nearly out of logs, so I may buy one big trailer load, split it and leave it to dry for those end of season customers? How long would wet but seasoned wood take to dry out once split roughly?
  6. Wants £40 a load, it probably 20 min drive to the yard. Not worth it...
  7. Okay so not as good as I thought it may work out. Cheers!
  8. Looking to get some timber in ready to split for next winter sales. A friend of mine has a big pile of Arb logs which he said he'd sell 5 trailer loads to me from. Just trying to work out how much to offer as it'll take me a day of running it to my place and a full tank of fuel. 2 ton on a tipping trailer? So 10ish tons all in sound about right? How many cube out of a ton? 2.5?
  9. There's certainly some resourceful people on here! I think im going to just go down the heras fencing box route for now, by my calculations they should store 20/25 cube each.
  10. I also thought about letting fellow arbs tip chip on the site in exchange for logs but I bet this is covered with red tape as well for some reason?
  11. Might have to just go for the heras fencing approach at this rate!
  12. Farmer has no spare barns but I'm free to use the land I had in mind. Going to build something out of timber that'll hold 20 cube now and see how it works out. How big a pile can I have without the wood not drying properly? I wanted to have each bay 2.4mx2.4m X about 2m high. Too big a pile? Sat on pallets and spaced cladding on the sides.
  13. Following this thread with interest as I'm looking at getting into the firewood side more. I've been going over all types of setup but i think being able to tip straight to customer would save a hell of a lot of time, be it transit or trailer tipper! I'm just trying to work out how best to pile it so it dries quickly without spending too much time stacking it etc. Ideally I'll just chuck it straight onto a big pile which is seperated by pallets to keep air flowing. Then just load a pre measured tipper by hand and deliver to customer.
  14. There's a possibility the tenant farmer who farms some land my nan owns has a spare barn I might be able to rent. It would have to be a good price or it just wouldn't make sense money wise, just eat into profit but if so I'll buy some ibc crates and store in them instead.
  15. I was thinking of only filling it about 3/4 full and leaving a little bit of space to work under cover. How many panels did you use with yours? And do you think leaving a panel gap would make it way too flimsy? Cheers
  16. Here's an idea, what about a pallet base surrounded by heras fencing 2 panels by 2 panels which gives 7mx7m, leave the front open or maybe just one panel leaving a 3.5m door with some sheeting as a roof? Maybe have to put a few straps around it to stop the wood pushing the sides out? To stop the pile going mouldy, maybe a few 'bays' seperate by pallets to let the air flow through.
  17. The pole barns look ideal! It's in that sort of village where people will kick up a fuss over the slightest thing though unfortunately, I'll have to look into the legal side of it all.
  18. Why the channels? To stop rot? scaffolding could be ideal!
  19. Selling the odd load this winter but looking to get setup for more sales next winter. I've got some space on a piece of land I was hoping to build a temporary small barn to house 50/100 cube, not sure on the legal restrictions of this? My plan was to make a floor of pallets and then fix some posts around the edges to allow me to add timber with gaps to allow airflow and a makeshift roof. Anybody got a better idea? How did you start storing your logs? Was hoping a pile that size with plenty of airflow won't rot?
  20. I climb on a blue to gue through a zig zag and an art positioned on my lanyard. Works brilliant through a pulley up top! Also a fan of minimal gear on the harness, why have stuff that gets caught up when it takes 30 seconds to have it sent up....
  21. I just had a measure of my double cab ranger and came to 0.85 cube minus the arches. Less than I was thinking, a heaped load should be about a cube though right?
  22. That Mel looks a good bit of kit, good speed and an even better price! Anybody got experience with them? Looks very simular to the rock machinery one minus table but I'm sure that could be knocked up easily enough.
  23. It seems a good bit of kit, didn't come across anything that it wouldn't split. But then I don't have much to compare it to.
  24. Thanks! I guess it's a bit of all forms of advertising then. I'm not set up to sell much this winter but wanted to atleast sell a few loads to gauge it all. Yet to make my first sale. I've posted in a load of selling pages on Facebook, done a gumtree add and set a Facebook status but nothin yet.
  25. After selling the odd load over the last few years, I really want to make a push in the firewood industry! Plan is to use this winter to hopefully pick up a few repeat customers and get a load of logs split and ready for next year. What did you find worked best for advertising when you started out or even now?
