  1. Yeah just saw that rg20, what are they like?
  2. Cheers ed but after something self propelled and 20ish hp hopefully. I'm not sure if I can 'justify' it, that's why I'd prefer to start low cost...
  3. As above, I'm on the hunt for a stumpgrinder. I'd love to buy a HB20 but funds don't allow at the moment and as it's a new venture, I'd like to keep costs down at the start. Hopefully I'll get the work which will allow me to upgrade to a bigger machine eventually... I've got about 3k which I know isn't much. Where's a good place to look for machines and what would you recommend in this budget? Cheers, Leon.
  4. The more I think about it, the more I think of buying a second hand cheaper machine for a year, see how it goes then maybe upgrade... How do you find your vivaro 33bk? cheers.
  5. Physically I'm 23, mentally is another story...
  6. My initial thoughts were to get a tidy looking box van...
  7. Thinking about it, guards can't be too hard to make yourself. Would definitely save a few quid!
  8. Leaning more towards the cheaper HB20 over a tracked unit as it's seems more than capable for most stumps for now! Then, fingers crossed as it earns me money, I could get a bigger machine in the future... Just trying to keep overheads down! I could buy a truck, guards and all other bits and bobs I need outright and then put a deposit down on a HB20...
  9. I'm not quite right in the head so I've definitely got that 'special mindset'
  10. That looks awesome! What did you find your best means of advertising were Jesse?
  11. Thanks for the informative posts! I'm going to enquire about the price on a 110 hicap local that may be up for sale. Should be able to cart the grinder in plus a bit of arrisings. I've got a chainsaw with an 18 inch bar that should cover most stumps or now. Looking at a jo beau tracked grinder. I've used pedestrian grinders in the past and they're one he'll of a workout. The idea was to make money with less physical strain haha!
  12. True! It's just at the moment I've got a 'company name' but do no private jobs, pretty much all subbing for others. Wanted to make sure I got the name/branding right!
  13. That's true, I guess. Plus I know my way around a landrover... So to just get an idea of startup costs. I'd need: Vehicle Plant trailer Grinder guards Boards Clean up kit Not sure if my liability insurance would cover it as is? Maybe have a word with them. I'm not sure how it works business/tax wise as I'm a sole trader at the moment...
  14. Very true! I am a bit of a landrover addict though! Ford rangers seem to be pretty reliable though? As much as I love landrovers, I could see the repair bills eating into profits lol...
  15. Saw a setup on here where he sits his grinder in the back of a 110 hicap. Looked the mutts! I know of a hicap for sale too! Very tempting...
  16. Just an idea Andy but be sure to contact me if I do go for it Good idea hamdog, I'm sure there's plenty of work to be had by those kind of places. In fact, I've got a friend who works for a big hotel/golf course...
  17. Cheers guys! I was thinking before I took the plunge, to advertise and push it while hiring in a machine for jobs. To see if the works there and how it goes before buying one...
  18. That thought did cross my mind! I've just been reading that recentish grinder thread about pricing. Gave me some ideas What do you think re van or pickup? I guess a pickup would allow arrisings to be took in the back?
  19. I'm currently self employed subbing for somebody often and occasionally other people but am toying with the idea of buying a grinder and trying to push that side of things as my own. Just trying to figure out numbers. What would you say is the average cost of something like a predator 28x per day with and without a man? Am I far wrong in thinking £150 and £450 a day? Also would you suggest a van with it in the back or a pickup and grinder on the trailer? Just trying to see if I can make it work... Cheers!
  20. Got a mate who's now getting into climbing and asked if I'd take him out to practice but I'm struggling for good places to go. He's pretty keen to get climbing some big/interesting stuff, as am I so if anybody's got suggestions for the localish area that'd be great! Cheers.
  21. What systems are you guys climbing these monsters on?
  22. Terrifirma all the way. Britpart are usually **** although my britpart shocks were fine...
