  1. Come on Arb, be an optimist in some way. Bad year to be pessimistic. If it all has to go to biomass in the end then so be it. I take it your packing in with logs?
  2. I'm sure I will find somewhere for it in the firewood industry... That also makes it sound like domestic wood should go to waste as should be from sustainable source. Do you not think a lot will just start selling 2 cube deliveries? I know I will be doing
  3. Hi there, A lad did express interest in it for cladding at 2.5m so will see how that goes. Theres most likely a market for everything big and small its finding who wants it
  4. Now thats the constructive post I was after! When you say trim it out a bit better, you mean more cutting branch unions flush to the stem more etc? Yes the squiggleys will be thrown to one side then loaded last. Its the first trial at this and was lead to believe that 2.5m was the right length for the firewood boys etc. Was pretty happy with the mini digger picking up all the big pieces and stacking etc! I will endevour to keep bringing it back in 8' lengths to get a decent amount to move on. Will need to do the maths to make sure its worth while though
  5. I'm registered and most of my trade is commercial so makes no difference fortunately. My return is about to go in and they will be giving me £7k for the last quarter, I have been spending a lot!
  6. The guy said he is re claiming 7 k in the quarter.... So reclaiming back 7k of vat from purchases he has made over the quarter. He must have spent a good 30k plus vat to claim that back though
  7. No still waiting to talk. Been rammed with work and no signal at home doesn't help but does in other ways lol Knowledge is power will catch up soon. Not a way I have done wood before so seeing on everyone's experience's and what people expect etc make sure I'm doing it right.
  8. Also in fairness... The majority is larch with a few pine in there
  9. Yes I would have thought so. Ideally need to find someone into their firewood and start to sell it to them? Or get a lorry load and then advertise etc ... Just thought it would be more brass this way as said, peanuts for biomass and not too interested in mass production of logs either.
  10. Got this mix of larch, bit of pine and some hardwood on site to shift soon. Bit of processor hardwood from another site etc. Not masses but if I stocked it up then sold it figured it was better money this way?
  11. Thanks for this. So 2.5 is purely for firewood then. I remember a good while ago it was 2.5 and 3.2's we had to cut etc
  12. Is that just processor sized stuff or for a mix? Is processor classed from 14" and down? Cheers
  13. If it was for fire wood though what would people expect etc?
  14. Never sold a log to a milling man in my years trading. Had all-sorts too. Have sold a few decent logs to carver's though but that's few and far between.
  15. Poor price on sending for biomass as logs... Think it was 15.00 per ton. Of the soft is worth 45-50 and hard 50-55 it's worth keeping to the side till a load to go out.
  16. You over half a century old yet lol ?
  17. I'm going to go down the selling logs in 2.5m lengths soon where I can. Any advice on how to judge weight would plan to sell via volume anyhow?, how to seperate Asin over size and processor size etc? Does over size still have a value etc? What sort of rates do hard and soft go for? I've just done a job where there are some nicer bits of larch to come back do these have value other than fire wood? Or just send it all out the door as firewood? Owt else I need to consider? Many thanks
  18. I also have the isa guide and cd's here that I have browsed through but nothing more if anyones interested
  19. In layman's terms then call it a guide for dummies.... What we supposed to be using now? Usually a main line and a secondary attachment... But now what?
  20. I'll try to follow this as mine walks off when on a banking Lol.... Usually just put a choc in front of it
  21. Prepare to get spanked on price lol
  22. You'd get away with it on brambles and light wips but nothing else and forget being able to keep the speed up with very much boom movement, What LPM does your Bob cat have? Trying to see the difference between yours and the smaller ones.
  23. I'll follow this as would be interested to know about one for a.volvo ec15bxr
  24. An old 3cx is purely a yard machine I say. If you want production and efficiency you'd have to be tractor trailer and excavator (though the tractor would run a hedge trimmer fine)
  25. Has anyone made them selves a trailer with an hiab mounted? Any advice from your build etc? I was thinking of a flatbed trailer or a plant trailer. Mount hiab at the front and timber bolsters down the sides.... Just wondering if anyone on here had done this before and any advice? Had a hiab trailer before but wasn't really the right thing for the job. Now want to build something correct for the job and to make life easier! Many thanks
