  1. You know it!! Thats a recipe for disaster.. I got attacked by a few bees in indonesia last year. I would not have wanted to change over to an 8:thumbdown:
  2. Just a short footloop to croll at knee height. Bungee over shoulder to back of harness to drag it up the line as you step up. Pantin on the other foot. leaves the hands free for whatever.
  3. Eurghhhh, no thanks.
  4. Hi Browncow, I did a fair bit of climbing big regnans in victoria.. I would personally go with pantin and haas with a rope wrench above it.. If its super long and you want to smash it in one hit slap a chest sling with a revolver on to keep you upright. less work on the arms. Nothing to drop and you can bail out super quick if things go south
  5. The little prussic loop works nicely for holding up some of the slack on a longer lanyard too. I think I'm using about 4.5m at the moment.
  6. Any old foot loop dude.. at the moment im using my sidestrop attached to the hand ascender with a small lighwtweight prussic loop as the foot stirrup bit.... then its adjustable and you dont have to carry a specific footloop..
  7. I bet it was a date/phoenix palm too..
  8. Business as usual. I very rarely use pantin and spikes together...Dont know why just didnt get on with it. If im away from the stem on spikes, having redirected or something, I use a hand ascender and footloop in conjunction with a roperocket/haas type thing on the other foot. If you dont have a self tending srt device like a rope runner or uni you can tie your saw onto the line, spur back up the stem with a self tending rope wrench, then pull it back up to you. For I short haul i dont bother but its worth it for a longer spiked ascent on the stick. ProperPriorPlanningPreventsPissPoorPerformance:laugh1:
  9. If you struggled with the final bury on the silverstreak, the blaze may be a challenge...
  10. If you run out of slings and rings and biners etc you can make a static redirect by taking a bight of your climbing line and just using that to anchor to a branch... clove hitch, cow hitch, midline bowline.. whatever.. Add on.. sometimes If I'm only going up to do a few bits above the base anchor, I just leave it how it is and climb above it on both ends of my long side strop..
  11. Hi Jake, hope things are going well for you and the family in Melbourne. Its not easy to start with. Just practice. I still occasionally do removals Ddrt if they look awkward single line. A uni is really nice for straight up straight down stuff like pines etc. If its a bit more spreading and lots of limbwalks I prefer the wrench. Its also easier to do them without spikes on until you get to the main chog down sometimes good luck
  12. Agreed....Except i'm not waiting
  13. It seems like the roll Nod got was ok. The only person i know of who has had any issue is Marc. I got 60m and its flawless. My first hank that i got in oz is spot on too. However I did buy a 6m length to make a side strop for a mate a while back. It had one strand that was fluffy but thankfully only a little on one end. Took it out as a taper strand for the splice.
  14. Looks awesome mate. Much improved on the version I tried a few years ago. How is the self tending with the spring added in?
  15. Cant speak for Adam on the tethers. But it seems pretty tough. Mine is lasting really well..
  16. Im not a fan of the honey bros tether. Too bulky and the eyes are too sloppy. Zk2 works ok on 13mm but its a bit fat for it. This means you wear out hitch cords less often but have a smaller range of control in terms of top speed and inherent friction in the system. Ive been using Adams tether for just over a month. Its the daddy
  17. Sounds amazing Nod! Look forward to hearing more about it
  18. When I wear out my uni (soon) I will be waiting for a new model to come out. In the mean time if I need something that self tends beautifully for work on spikes I will be looking at a rope runner. I would say that you are so comfortable with the frog walker for access Marc, why change it? I guess if you want to option to bail out mid ascent without the need to change over get a wrench.. Getting a uni is a very expensive replacement for a croll. But if you dont descend on it much it will last ages. Ive had mine over a year but mainly just use it on removals.
  19. love you Tom <3
  20. jesus tom should have gone for the locking brummel. You would have snapped the tree instead
  21. I did mine with a locking brummel splice, using a paper clip
  22. There is more space with a pinto rig (if you are using 13mm) the normal pinto works fine for my cougar though at 11.7
  23. Me too!! for the first 10 minutes.... I think the solution to your problem is a can of fuel and a box of matches Rich...
  24. Resplice on a used bit of blaze(alternative colours) and some HRC for the super short locked brummel e2e
