  1. Waiting for the production model now Im sure it will look prettier even if it doesnt function any better or get any smaller
  2. Choked with a running bowline and a soft locked fig.8/single line work positioning device or DdRT with an adjustable cambium saver or ropeguide.. A ridiculously loose rope around your ankles is not going to do much if you cut through your flipline. At least get it up high and under similar tension to the strop. Or as Marc mentioned choke your line and use a hitch. If you need to get down pop a fig of 8 below it....or just be careful and dont cut your line.....
  3. jealous...
  4. Collecting my drum and Ian and Dan's at the end of the month. Will let you know how it goes Paul.
  5. Ive put the video up in the video section of the forum. Where's the photos you promised Ewan!? Clearly everyone is desperate to see them.... naaat. Hope you are nice and hot bro
  6. sorry about the blank bit at the end. I have no idea how to edit it out. A friend made the film for me and i think i have a non final version [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIA2cEW65DI]Canopy research on the epiphytes of Lambusango reserve, Indonesia - YouTube[/ame]
  7. Pantin and try and try to climb less jerkily.. The bounce comes from you. Saying that though, it is stretchy rope. I notice stretch more SRT than DdRT for some reason. It may feel bouncier because xtc is stronger, therefore your weight is a greater proportion of the working load limit on a weaker thinner rope than a fat old xtc. If you check out the dynamic elongation curves of each rope you will see what I mean.
  8. Cant wait to test it. I feel so priviledged! lol
  9. I think it is a great piece of kit, but it was a bit of a fiddle getting it to run perfectly on different rope. However, Gordon seems to have improved it quite a lot since the version I tried. For the moment I am sticking with what I have. I almost went for a rope runner too but I short on cash and want to see how it develops. These days I'm not so keen to try stuff until it is up to mass production standards. The first wrench was great and then kevin improved it. Kind of waiting for the same to happen with the OAR and the rope runner. Just ordered a drum for my unicender though
  10. Check out Jack Price, Marcus. I can put you in touch with some other guys i know who are not on arbtalk too. Good luck, you will love it bro
  11. Hi Old mill, I trialled an OAR for a while. The wear parts are replaced really easily. They are essentially motorcycle chain links. Good device that has great potential.
  12. Nice advice Dan, I did this yesterday on my darts poplar sticks. Around 50% narrow gob (not narrow enough) through from one side pop the nose of the saw through, back out and then around to the other side. I was using a 12" bar on the husky in 18ish" wood so I kind of had to. Too lazy to get a bigger saw up:001_smile:
  13. Production standard can be a bit squiffy at times for whatever reason. Ive never had any trouble with any of my cougar blue ropes but others have had issues. It does pick easily but so do most double braids ive found. saw on the right ropes to the left. job done.

  15. The guy has a video on ways of attaching it. I do fancy one but I am waiting until i go to the states to buy one off him, saves shipping and potential import tax
  16. With the top rate for an experienced climber working out at 15 pounds per hour, I can only hope the cost of living is a bit cheaper than here. 5 pounds a pint is london prices Drew!
  17. Nice work avoiding doing the ficus Ewan! I only did 2 fig takedowns when I was over there and hated both of them.. The sap is soooo sticky. Hand glued to the 200t. Nice angles on the euc mate
  18. Congrats Coleman! Let us know how it compares to your spiderjack. If I were to get a ddrt device i think i would get on with a zig zag better than a jack. Drop me a text when you get it. Could be cool to have a rec climb once we have a decent collection of toys together. I dont own a ropeguide anymore.. But you have two right!?!

As a contract climber the last thing you want is bad payers! I have enough trouble here sometimes! Thanks for the words of warning. Perhaps a year on the books with a company first to scope it out. Does look like enjoyable big work though. Long time fan of the videos. Thanks.
  20. Quality mate! What camera are you using?

Thanks for the feedback Reg. Like you say oranges and apples. I didnt word that very well. I kind of meant do you find it harder work dealing with the people in canada than oz. Straight sticks do kind of appeal after twisty eucs. I would have to agree on rather doing dead eucs than dead firs based on some of the videos you have put up. I especially enjoyed the tutorial on topping dead firs. Food for thought. I'll stop picking your brains now. Enjoy the break and happy new year:001_smile: It will certainly be west coast for me if/when I make it out.
  22. Sensible advice there Marc. Ive been using 13mm rope recently. Good compromise between flipability and flexability. Just gone back to 11mm velocity and my cinch. See how it goes. I find steel core fliplines a pain in the arse. Good for spiking ivy clad poles though
  23. I think Ben Lightfoot had some photos of a spider wrench setup.. Id love to give it a go with a wrench!

Spot on Reg. Fair go and all that. Do you find Canada harder work than you found Australia then? I am thinking of having a go at working your side of the pond for a bit but now I'm not so sure.
  25. Welcome to the real world of brown pants mode
