  1. Yea mate. Although if you want to be pernickerty some people say different dyes effect the stretch in the rope ... apparently
  2. cougar is the mac daddy
  3. Yea I heard you could only get those orange and black ones in australia somewhere?? been on holiday tom?!
  4. f8 to lower.. sneaky mr T
  5. like this.. or with one less wrap and a twist before the braid. works for me:001_smile: to be fair its bloody short
  6. I found a distel bound up on me a bit at times.. Also you end up with heaps of sitback because of the length of the legs. I use a 62-65cm cord too. super short and I use a vt or xt:001_smile:
  7. Always...
  8. Looks like the rope is a bit squished between the ring and the pulley old mill.. maybe a pinto rig would have more space?
  9. maybe shorten your bridge too.. i run mine quite short
  10. Personal preference but I like a bigger carabiner like a petzl william to give it all a bit more space. Helps keep most of the load along the spine instead of loading up the whole top half of the biner

I had no idea it was on. Lack of promotion.. Maybe all the single line climbers dont fancy getting spanked in a top down doubled rope work climb.. If the comps are to help innovation, the judges have to embrace innovation and allow it at the competition. Rant over. Tbh even if they did let me climb single line i wouldnt bother... im not that competitive.
  12. inner tube at the moment. or a webbing sling. also hate lots
  13. derrick martins video is pretty good. All i would suggest to stop you dropping the rope is to put your side strop over the down leg to pin it to the stem with your weight. Or just tie the rope to you somewhere.
  14. If you are worried about dropping your rope, you can pull up the tail and chuck that up and over first before you disconnect from the system. Or advance your main anchor fork with a sling as you move up, then rethread the line when you reach the desired point. We can cover it in the workshop at treekit on the 17th of may if you are coming. I presume its the same jack as on instagram. Ben
  15. 11mm is nice when the unicender is new. Once it gets a bit worn 11.5-7 is nice. Im using cougar blue with mine.
  16. An advanced climbing course would be good for those that need bits of paper to do things... for now perhaps everyone should go back to the prussic loop.. Better safe than sorry:laugh1: Stationary rope technique would be a better name.
  17. Go with the tenex Amsteel is pretty self abrasive and has a low melting point as you say. It is however very strong (in the right apllication)
  18. Have you tried reading the instructions.... sigh.
  19. Found it on the SRT Q and A thread. Crap photo and you've all seen it before probably, but for those that have not a picture is worth 1000 words. Notice my elastic has snapped (again) so its bodged up with an alpine.
  20. Haha you know it Drew. If I could afford it, I would buy a haas too, its a tidy bit of kit. Old mill, dont have the picture on my computer but ive posted it up a few times on different threads in the SRT forum. Its nothing exciting...
  21. Why, because I'm so fresh Marc? I need to live closer so I can come and work at Heritage full time:blushing:
  22. same as tom, stays in a little chalk bag.. the footloop is still going to get snagged if you down stow it away properly. drew, i agree its a cool concept and keeps the clutter down.. but what happens when the elastic breaks?? pain to replace it. I guess it depends on the sort of person you are. Some people want to buy something ready made to fix lifes problems. Others want to make their own for less money and make it exactly the way they like it. I'm happy with my home grown one. been running it for almost 2 years. Still on the same footloop but ive replaced the elastic once. The idea has been around since scotty sharp came up with his rope rocket setup. Nice to see it getting refined. My elastic never has any slack Jake, and it always goes right up to the wrench setup if i choose to take steps that big.
  23. Im with you Tom. You want more elastic in the system? Could just use thicker bungee or run it over the shoulder to the back of the harness.. Having it all run through the spliced on footloop just decreases the versatility. I can use mine as a haas or a croll loop just comes off with a twist of a maillon
  24. There is nothing wrong with asking questions.. I believe there isnt much need to do anymore tests and post results as Paul has already done it. Regardless of the situation: bommer anchor or not, makes of ascenders, whatever, The important thing is a good understanding of the system you are using and its benefits and limitations. Just be sensible out there and try to spread good knowledge about without giving people stick for asking questions and wanting to improve safety for everyone. For what its worth, I personally think any ascent system should convert into a descent system instantly... whether it be RADS, wrench, hitch hiker or uni.. ...Or climbing on ascenders (on a suitable rope) with a ground based belay system/lowerable base anchor.
  25. The only problem with a hand ascender and footloop, in conjunction with a rope wrench setup is that the rw setup doesnt self tend, so when you step up on the footloop you have to kick a little extra loop of slack through with the pantin..
