  1. That will have a legal payload of around 100- 200kgs
  2. I got mine from my neighbour, he kept leaving it out for the bin men but they never took it away - so I did.
  3. I have replaced my bearings with off the shelf 'pillow block' bearings - like everyone says - take one to a supplier. The key measurements are shaft diameter, spacing of the mountong holes and the offset of the bearing face to the mounting holes. You also need to make sure the block will fit in the space on the grinder. As for the belt - I have been running two separate belts (cant remember the length) but any motor factor (don't waste your time at Halfords - if you aint got reg no they can't help) - The length may even be printed on the belt and IIRC they are 13mm standard V profile, others on here can probably correct me if necessary. Good luck
  4. Pushed out - needed a tiny tap on a drift. Just gotta clean it all and do the swap. Thanks again for your help (once again great forum keeps on doing its stuff).
  5. Thanks gents, I'm off to try it.
  6. I have a low mileage MS200 with a sheared crank at the clutch end. I want to use the piston and barrel to restore another MS200 with a worn barrel and piston. I've got the donor stripped down, with the gudgeon pin clips off but... what is the best way to get the gudgeon pin out? Should it just tap out or does the piston need to be heated first. Just thought I'd get some advice before screwing up a decent 'history known' component. Thanks in advance
  7. There have been a few of these threads on here. The problem is that there are so many different body conversions out there. IIRC most manufacturers didn't (until recently) offer an arb type option so the plates on many vans are pre-conversion. The only way is for people to go and get their vans weighed, then a list of manufacturer/model/ conversion type and weight could be collated. A few people have done this but the details are scattered to the four corners of this forum. The only one I can offer is my old 1990 VW LT35 (long wheelbase) panel van weighed 3.5 tons with 4 cu mtrs of chips on board. There was room to also carry 3/4 ton of logs on top but that would have put it over the limit so was of no use. So there we have it - eveyone should weigh their van with full kit and staff then we will know the actual legal payloads.
  8. I agree you need two spouts really. Every combi can I've ever bought has had two spouts. Why not phone the on-line suppliers and ask them?
  9. I will haggle if I'm buying second hand, I will not haggle if i'm selling (why on earth give away profit?) and will NEVER haggle over price on a tree job. I paid full price for a beard in a bazaar - but it was new.
  10. That's strange, they all speak highly of you.
  11. If my groundie looked like that I'd need a new section in my Risk Assessment. Please don't take that personally, Spoons.
  12. He's only had it a few months - see if you are happy with the reason he might give for selling it on so soon. Nothing to lose by looking at it.
  13. We, as a group, can't agree on what chainsaw or chipper is best. How would we get a consistent view on antything to do with work? We would end up with more governing bodies than there are tree companies. As stated above this is a forum where differences are (believe it or not) welcomed and we can all learn something. Just can't see that it can be something else.
  14. How about a diesel furnace - lots on Youtube
  15. Just got in this afternoon and listened to the land-line messages. Had a really good one. 'Hi errrr we've been pollarding a tree for...err....... my friend and had a bit of trouble with it and just wondered if you could help us out cos the height of the top branches has left us a bit short of them - be grateful if you could call us back as soon as possible':lol: Surely nobody on here??
  16. Mr Burns in the x-files story of The Simpsons.. 'I bring you......loooove'
  17. The only time I fell within a tree was because I was trying to work out (in ma heed) the implications of a fall and thus lost concentration. 9 mtrs/sec squared x Mass / distance(d) with some allowance for any deceleration factors such as stretching groin tendons and frayed harness stitching. I can't multi task!
  18. We adopt the approach- Ladders are ok (if used properly) to get you up there. They are NOT ok to keep you up there.
  19. We have weather cats. When they come in, If they are wet - it's raining Hot - it's sunny White - it's snowing Straggly - it's very windy Can't be found - hurricane Usually spot on!
  20. You can get a good idea of what things sell for by selecting 'completed listings' - you can see what sold and what didn't - quite useful.
  21. You could try fitting gutter-protection mesh, probably also cheaper than removing the tree. Does the tree cause other problems which means removal is the only option?

    groundie pay

In which case, feel free to pay them both the same, it's your choice. No offence intended, we all interpret the facts differently, thats all.

    groundie pay

Generally speaking, If you had a spare climber on the team, he/she could act as a groundie if needed. If you had a spare groundie, could he/she step in as a climber for the day? Climber has to be worth more, how much more depends on a lot of things, but the two jobs are NOT the same.
