  1. Careful with that axe Eugene!

    Disgusting!

If council tips allowed commercial waste for free would these people use them? No idea, but it might be cheaper than the cost of tidying up that lot. Big problem would be current recycling plants would lose out as we would all go there. And then, if it's too busy ... off to the local lanes again.. Practical solutions needed rather than just screaming about scumbags.
  4. Is that a bit of inonotus dryadeus on the oak (fourth girl from the left)?
  5. What Skyhuck said. If they push for timings I say it depends on how many guys, and who, I have working. Tell them we will be as quick as possible to minimise disruption for them.
  6. The higher you go - the better the leverage BUT you can run the risk of snapping the top out if you go too high. All obvious stuff, really - we generally go for half way and a bit more, using throw-lines ,ladders. Shouldn't someone on the crew have CS38 anyway?
  7. That's Rob from DM - what d'ya recon Stubby?
  8. Would they expect a discount if they were served by a trainee on the till at Monsiour Bricolage or Carrefour. Tetes de merde!
  9. Bad news Nick, it just shows that nowhere is safe. We'll have to move our yard to the police station at this rate. Will keep an eye out - hope you get it back.
  10. You worked for a wooden figure-head? Was she sucking a red hot.....?
  11. So Douglas Adams was right. The universe really is very big indeed. Its so big it can contain my land rover's advisories list from the MOT.
  12. Farmers, travellers, idiots, beurocrats - They are all potential topics of conversation on a forum, surely.
  13. I remember Mick Grant, works Kawasaki rider. He once raced in the Trans-Atlantic series against the likes of Kenny Roberts, with one hand strapped to the bars because he had injured his wrist and couldn't hold on on full acceleraion! I agree, absolute legend. I worked for Dave Benson-Phillips who used to host 'Get your own back' on TV Last week did a tree for Peter Griffin! - His wife was NOT like Lois though:confused1:
  14. That can't be your best porno mag, surely?
  15. Don't they get subsidies for NOT maintaining their vehicles?
  16. From what I've seen on TV.... If you get stopped by the police then you should - Jump out of your vehicle gesticulating violently and accuse them of picking on you because of your race/religion/clothes/hair/age/vehicle. You should swear a lot, tell them to go catch some REAL criminals, stuff your drugs into your undies. If it gets real bad take a swing at them. In the end they will not press charges due to insufficient evidence. Oh happy days
  17. I do not profess to know the ins and outs of the 'Romany' lifestyle but I played football with some of the Colnbrook fellows many years ago. A few of them were fine, a lot of them were not and always had things for sale. There are good and bad in all walks of life. What do people really think would happen if you went onto a site and happened to find one of your saws? When you pick it up and start walking - do you think they will sit back full of remorse and let you go ? HO HO HO There is a lot of Bruce Willis/Charles Bronson tough talk on here. Yes we all hate anyone who would steal our means of earning a living, but the suggestions of making the selling on more difficult are far more sensible than Hollywood dreams. Let's keep it sensible and list what weve got - just in case. Tin hat on, taking cover..
  18. I bought an echo telescopic pruner last year. I wasn't sure how much I would use it but we do loads with it now. It is heavier than the Stihl by miles, but more robust. The throttle set up is a bit crappy with a weird enclosed design - not as easy as the Stihl I used to have - but then again the Stihl wrecked three shafts (the last one only lasted 6 months). We find it useful on windblown stuff where you can work on stressed sections from a safe distance without having to be in/on the tree itself. Also Echo say its fine to use the hedge cutter attachment (not recommended on the Stihl). Overall, build up Popeye arms or buy the Easylift, and get an Echo - you will use it!
  19. That holds a predator 450 easily. It's a peugeot Expert, Fiat and Citroen do the same shape.
  20. Something like - Was that it? Really scary how time flies by as the years pass, hence my strap-line
  21. The only time I've used YP in the last year was on top of a milk crate to hold a new wall cupboard at the right height while I marked the holes for rawlplugs - it was just the right thickness - perfect!
  22. If it was down to poor servicing... Thats a bit like catching someone trying to nick your gear - then getting them to keep an eye on it as punishment.
  23. 'Everybody still advertising in YP'? Not anyone with any sense. Unbelievable waste of money. From my experience years ago they were absolute scoundrels. Ask yourself who/how many use YP nowadays. Web site - don't bother with these 'get you to the top of the searches' goons either.
  24. Most servicing is very good. Some is not. Any motor insurer will tell you that something like 90% of vehicle fires occur in the first week after a major service. It sounds like the classic unsupervised apprentice to me. Hopefully a re-jig of the fuel system and you'll be away again.
