  1. Are most people nowadays smokist because they detest smokers? I openly admist to being pissedist and BMWist on the roads. What about people who hate tree surgeons - Arboristist?
  2. Robert S and Pinkfoot, I salute you!
  3. Save me, I've been annexed by Mr Plogs. While we are on irrelevant stuff, I've got these lyrics in my head, anyone know where they are from If it wasn't for the Nips, being good at building ships The yards would still be open on the Clyde But it can't be much fun for them beneath the rising sun With all their kids commiting suicide.
  4. One day there will be a thread where we all remember the days when Stihl and Husqvarna made reliable saws, before the Japanese and Chinese (eventually) took over.
  5. Looks like Clarkson is using a Stihg 023
  6. Who hasn't cut down a few 'wrong' large trees by mistake? Why do they say 'chop down' it looks like chainsaws were used. Simple solution, grind stump, all roots and plant a mature replacement using a Thunderbirds tree spade. I'd like to see the original specification the Housing ass'n crew had.
  7. Based on some threads on here, the very sort of people who do this are the sort that wouldn't be able to BUY saws themselves.
  8. Sorry, I was reding Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy last night and I think Marvin got to me. With luck we'll get to 1 o'clock in the morning.
  9. And three seconds before midnight a few well-meaning bods set out some mythical stories to help us remember good manners. Then on the stroke of midnight a few scramble brained loonies mis-interpret the stories and the lunar observers watch the final firework display from 235,00 miles away. It was good while it lasted.
  10. No chainsaws! Read the Silky saves the day' thread. You can still do a really bad jippo cut with a hand saw (or a stolen chain saw) leaving a nice tear down the trunk. To my mind it's about the customer's awareness of what is what. How often does a domestic customer ask to see your insurance? How many ever ask what NPTC is all about? How many know about any British Standards? How many ask about your loler inspections? All many of them know is who quoted the lowest, and whether you left the garden tidy. You can make laws (if you must), you can try to enforce them (if you can) but I wonder how all the 65 million people will be educated to a standard where they can select a 'professional' tree company. Let your work and reputation build your business, don't worry about the cowboys, they will eventually give up or maim themselves. I do not consider them as competitors, they do NOT work the way I do. AND as for the type of customer who wants to use them - good luck, cos I do not consider them to be the type I want to work for. Ignore them, rise above them, concentrate on what YOU are doing.
  11. I hoot predicate taxi as welcome, it ISA compliment rubber.
  12. There was one in Isfield (near the railway station), but I've not been there for about five years. It's also KPS
  13. Good point. - I was impressed till then.
  14. !!!!!???? Are you related to Marius Pudzanowski? I really like my Echo telescopic but it must be twice the weight of the Stihl. It is more robust, without a doubt, and designed to do the job but it is bleedin heavy to use and the trigger mech makes it hard to use in anything but the 'perfect' position. It is good, but after all the rave revues on here I was disappointed that it's not as friendly to use as people say. We NEVER use it for hedge cutting for more than 5 minutes. After that your arms and back are ficked. We use it for cutting windblown stuff at a safe distance and 'tip-cutting' over phone lines but I cannot recommend it for trimming tall/long hedges - sorry.
  15. 80% of landrovers ever made are still on the road. The other 20% have arrived at their destination. Good luck.
  16. I saw a thread on a Subaru forum where some pervert offered £20 for the last message posted. Last time I saw it there were billions of trivial posts.... I guess some people have a lot of spare time. Still.. I suppose it was a kind of internet perpetual motion machine.

  20. That's because you are the last tree surgeon in there! If it works for you - do it.
  21. Half the effort is etting up and then clearing up. Actual work looks v easy. Id put it between £150 and £200 - All gone and tidy. Defo a job to fit on the end of a short day.
  22. Les homards montir les velos et mange la fromage. Do I get my O level please?
  23. Those are superb photos. I can't think of anywhere in the south of the UK where the skies are clear enough to get views like that - maybe the middle of Dartmoor, otherwise it's off to McScotland to avoid the light pollution.
