  4. Hi we sell logs from the gate about 2000 nets a year, each net has 18 logs . I think the most important thing with selling log from the gate is to keep them dry, always have logs for sale summer and winter . We do have the odd net that does not get paid for but on a whole most customers are very honest. thanks chris

  8. Hi Steve If they are paying cash ,surely the haulier should now that they have to pay 20% if they are a firewood merchant and so by producing a non vat receipt is also leaving himself wide open for investigation by h.m inspectors.
  9. Surely it's only the smaller merchants who arnt VAT reg who are the cash pests as they can't claim the 15% back? Personally I like cash as it's quick turnover (like BACS). Cheques are a pain! timbernut is offline What do you mean by cash pests ?
  10. Hi looks like you would need a much larger tractor with weighted front I don't think that ih with loader will be man enough.

  15. Hi All just bought a 51 plate jimny and wonderd is anyone else uses one for work. And what size wheels and tyre you have found best , been considering making adapters to put landrover wheels and 600 x 16 destine tyres on the truck. Have you made any other mods to your trucks. thanks chris
  16. Hi you could ask Jasper Courtney he is a log merchant on the main poole road from blandford he uses a saw blade processor so should know were to get blade sharpened.
  17. Hi we use a hacki pilke eagle with built in cone log splitter, faster and safer than a chain saw, tungsten tip blade stays sharp for ages and you don't have to keep buying chainsaw oil:001_smile: thanks chris

  19. Hi All Just wondered what you thoughts are on free landers are as they are so cheap to buy and parts are very cheap. Thinking off buying one as a run around .what problems did you have with yours. I know that its not as good as a defender but it was not designed to be a heavy duty work horse. thanks chris:confused1:

HI we ran a 1989 f reg Suzuki sj413 for about 9 years 19000miles when bought, 98000 when sold only things that were replaced in that time were 1 battery,1 set tyres , 1 rear silencer and one set of brake shoes and linings. always overloaded and towing more than it should have been ,it was the most reliable 4x4 that we have had .It was replace with a land rover 90 turbo but that is another story. so I would say you cant go far wrong with the Suzuki. thanks chris
  21. HI Alysindon The woodsure quality assurance does NOT entitle you to be an RHI approved supplier . We were woodsure accredited for supplying logs when we became accredited two years ago it was on the understanding that this would help us be on are way to become RHI accredited as woodsure were in corespondance with the government regarding the implamentation of the new rhi scheme but this was NOT to be the case .hope this helps.

  23. Hi I was about 17 at the time and studying at Bicton college on the way home we used various green lanes and crossed fields when we found the road blocked by trees the land rover came in very use full that day.
  24. Hi John well done for supplying the man with logs. We passed the music festival site on the way to land rover show at bath and west just cant get over how large the site is . best wishes chris
  25. allen scythe is a good machine if you no how to use it. Try to buy one with a 4 stroke engine as they are more reliable than the two stroke models.
