When i started about eight years ago i was told by family and friend that i had no chance competeing with the astablished firewood men in are area,so i just started selling netts of logs from the gate that has now progressed to about 5000 a year + land rover and ldv tipper loads and i have a lot of the customers that userd to go to the professional log producers. good luck chris

Hi Vertigo the faster that you can process the timber the more you can produce so the greater the profit.Dont try and compete with the £40 a dumpy bag ferternity, produce top quality well seasoned firewood 20 % moisture content and charge top price.you should be able to double your money on each load.

  7. Hi we are the dearest in are area,people will pay good money for a quality product,we have had customers go to other log merchants that are cheaper but they normally return saying the new suppliers logs dident burn very well. are prices are 0.5 cm3 =£70 1cm3 = £130 2cm3 = £180.

Hi i am thinking at replaceing my 40 year old lwb petrol land rover used for delivering logs.I am looking for the newest/lowest milage /cheapest pickup thats available and was wondering what your thoughts or experiance of the above pickups are,any comments would be greatly recieved. thanks chris

Hello i have been sitting on the sideline for a couple of years ,reading all the post and learning a lot.So i thought it was about time (being promped by this post to introduce myself) My name is chris we are located in devon . I am a small firewood producer, processing about 500 cubic metres a year with the help of my dad. I hope to meet some of you guys at the Black down hill woodland fair (near taunton somerset) on the 6th of july. best wishes chris
  11. hi we have only sold about 140 cube this winter and about half of that was in netts from outside the yard gates.

  13. Hi all Just wondered if there are any accredited wood fuel suppliers on Arbtalk . And what your thoughts are regarding either off the above schemes.Has it made any differance to your firewood sales. Any other comments regarding the accreditation process would be greatly recived weather it is for or against .

Hi All I have being looking at Agricultural registered landrovers and wondered if anyone had tried to register plg landrover with d.v.l.a as agrictural as the advantages are 1 no mot 2 free tax and 3 run on red deisel ? Also does anyone know if you would be able to legially deliver logs with it when registered as agricultural.thanks chris
