Hi we made a power pack using a old dumper diesel twin engine with its coupled dowty hydraulic pump it drives a 3foot ram is quick and will split most things. A dumper is a cheap source of hydraulic power plant and you could mount the splitter on the dumper so that its mobile. cheers chris

Most of the beer money people near us soon get pissed off with logs because the have an chainsaw and axe, they are depending on wood that they get from farmers for free and they don't like hard work , people only buy cheap wet wood once so no repeat orders. What you should bear in mind are the repercussions from reporting these people ,looking at your website you have quite a lot off good machinery and these type off people will have no qualms regarding damaging stuff in the long run it could cost you a lot more that a few lost log sales.

IF you are so unhappy with the current state of affairs in the firewood industry and what others are doing why don't you try something else you can go on moaning forever its never going to change there will always be the beer money people we have them down hear if you are selling a good product people will always come back ,you are not the only one down on takings this year we are down 50% on last year you just have to take the rough with the smooth.

now impacting on me and I don't see why I should sit back and say on you go chaps run your illegal businesses and put me on the dole queue because I shouldn't report you going from the above statement you are going to report me just because I work 9to 5 and you are ASSUMEING that I don't pay tax on my firewood sales Wrong .

logsnstuff what you should remember is just because someone does a 9to5 job and doing logs you seem to assume that they are on the fiddle WHY? Also when you started in the firewood business you never sold any for cash and put the money in your pocket you started paying tax straight away did you ! what you should remember when you are reporting everyone is that what goes around comes around to bite you on the ass.

Hi that's fair enough if they are cowboys taking work away from professional tree surgeons and not going by the rules they want stopping before they cause a accident or cut down more trees with tpo on them

Hi the flames that you can see rolling above the logs is called the secondary burn ,its the gas from the log first burn re- igniting and burning again.

Hi I find that after you have explained all about price, type of wood, moisture content they normally say that they can get them cheaper from a man down the road at which point I tell them to go on and get them from him, knowing that it is freshly felled soft wood that wont burn, then they are on the phone again placing an order because there cheap crap wont burn.
