1. Hi Rigger, The new Aspen 2 FRT (full range technology) will work spot on in all outboard motors. you could also use Aspen 4 with your usual outboard oil
 2. There is a call for Aspen in any area that uses forest/garden machinery! If you know of a good garden machinery dealer in your area who doesn't stock aspen give us a shout.
 3. Well done everyone, great response so far. Don't forget to share it with your friends and get them to do the same!
 4. Hi all, We have started to make progress speaking to the right people who will hopefully be able to help in removing the road fuel duty on alkylate petrols this would currently save 57p per litre on Alkylate fuels like Aspen and stihl motomix. Obviously this would be amazing for everyone, but we need a little help in signing our petition to really back things up. If each member off the forum gets 5 of their friends/family to sign then we will be very close to our target off 100,000 signatures. Help us get the ball rolling. follow the link and sign the petition, it will only take a minute of your time. http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/government-uk-abolish-road-fuel-duty-on-garden-power-tool-specific-alkylate-petrols-designed-to-protect-users-from-harmful-emissions Share it with your friends on facebook, twitter and in the real world!
 5. Aspen Alkylate Petrol was launched in Sweden 1989 and is now produced in-house at Aspen HQ just outside Gothenburg. More info and videos on it being made can be seen here. A film about ASPEN (English) - SHORT Alkylate is not yet available from a pump in the UK like it is in other parts of the UK.
 6. Hope Eddie doesn't mind me answering this, Aspen 2 is only suitable for air cooled engines so with your rotax engine you would be better of using aspen 4 mixed with your current oil. you would probably also have to adjust the low speed fueling to get the best performance. However, Aspen has a much higher MON octane rating of 92 which means it won't technically be legal if competing under MSA regulations...
 7. Also don't forget that if you work from a location which allows you to buy Aspen in bulk then you will be able to get free delivery to your workplace and a discount from rrp when buying 54 cans of Aspen or more at a time. This may help when it comes to working out the costs as you will probably save time and money by not having to stop at the fuel station constantly to fill up cans of fuel. Time spent mixing regular fuel with oil and potentially encountering fuel related issues should also be considered. As should the boost in efficiency from staff who aren't having to breath in toxic emissions. Obviously the latter is harder to weigh up and can only be decided by you after testing using Aspen. Most people don't think they notice the emissions from pump fuel until they have been using Aspen for some time and are forced to use a machine running on pump fuel again...
 8. Great to see that Aspen users are helping others out but to clear things up a little and to avoid confusion please read the following notes i have made about switching to aspen, Aspen fuel will never damage your machines! If your machine runs poorly after switching to Aspen and a simple re-tune doesn't fix this then fault will most likely be with a problem caused by previously running pump fuel.(usually adjusting the low speed mixture about a 1/4 of a turn to make it richer does the trick) Worst case scenario in order get a pump fuel damaged machine running on aspen is the following: Overhaul the carburetor - cleaning metal parts and replacing gaskets/rubber parts Change fuel lines (rarely) replace petrol tank lid or other plastic/rubber seals that could have come in contact with regular fuel and have become damaged. Once these easy (and inexpensive) steps have been followed you will have a machine which runs happily on aspen, and you will be able to benefit from having a machine which runs better and doesn't emit anywhere near the amount of toxic emissions into the air that you breath whilst working. Most saws wont have these problems and will happily accept the change to aspen without any issues (as gardenkit has nicely pointed out), the reasons some saws have issues when others don't is a little bit of a mystery but it seems to come down to the following reasons Poorer quality parts used in machine the machine has been subject to a higher volume of pump fuel model of carburetor, the carb on the ms200t is especially prone from experience To avoid the guesswork of finding out whether your machine will work on aspen or not straight away then i suggest you start using aspen a) when you get a new machine or b) switch after your next service and get your Aspen dealer to service the carburetor and fuel lines and at the same time make sure its dialed in to run spot on with aspen. please note that Aspen cant cure underlying problems such as worn piston rings, leaking head or crankcase gaskets, worn crank etc. Unfortunately not all Garden Machinery dealers are like Garden Kit and understand Aspen as good as Barry does, Hence why some dealers will give wrong advice due to the fact they don't understand the product. If you encounter this, please drop me a message or better yet tell them to give us a call so that we can explain it to them. A lot of dealers wont stock Aspen or recommend it to their customers because they believe that by recommending it they will lose business from servicing due to the fact people wont get the mix wrong or encounter stale fuel issues! talk about customer service! If anyone has any concerns in running aspen please give us a call in the office on 01929 551557 or give Eddie a call on 07568 108953. /Axel
 9. Hi Rob, Which dealer have you been dealing with? if you are having issues with them, please send me a pm and i will try my best to help! Any dealer can arrange aspen to be delivered to you, costs are £20 + VAT on any order under 54 cans or free of charge delivery on 54 or more. Best regards Axel
 10. Most standard unleaded pump fuels in the UK currently contain 5% Ethanol. It will be indicated on the pump by the code "E5" on it.
 11. If you are referring to the fillpartner spout then yes Garden Kit has posted the correct rrp, It is however a far superior product to similar types of fillers available and at a very comparable price.
 12. This is the ideal solution and is available from all Aspen dealers, either in stock or to order Aspen Fuel :: Aspen Fill Partner otherwise I suggest pouring with the can horizontal and using a funnel when possible
 13. Have you let your employer know you feel this way and that there is a simple solution which would make your job much more enjoyable?
 14. Just waiting to double check that I have the latest spec of the Aspen Oil on my computer before I put it up. In the mean time I can assure you that it is off the highest quality and Aspen are constantly looking at how they can improve it. In fact we are about to receive an update which will make the product even better. I don't think this is "thread jacking" it's fact that Aspen 2 is better than any other 2 stroke oil mixed with pump fuel for both the machine and the user. It's to the best interest of every operator of 2 stroke machines to know the benefits. If they choose to except the benefits over the cost compared to pump fuel then that is up to the them. It is also important to know that Whilst our oils are of the highest quality, what really makes aspen unique in regards to machine protection (which this thread is about) is the fact that you are getting a perfect 50:1 mix every time and it is also blended with alkylate petrol rather than regular pump fuel. This means that no matter how long you have left your fuel, you can rest assured its going to give optimum performance/protection for your engine. Something you can never be assured with if you use pump fuels even mixed with the most expensive/top quality 2 stroke oil.

Hi Ben,

sorry about the slow reply!

You do not need to do anything else apart from what you just said. If the saw is slow to pick up revs It is recommended that the low speed mixture is richened.

It is rare that big saws require any other changes unless the diaphragms have already been too damaged by the pump petrol which you have previously used. In which case we would recommend getting the carburettor overhauled.

Any technical issues please don't hesitate to contact Eddie on 07784 865275

Best regards

 16. did you get an outcome from this? would be great to share it on here when you have resolved your issue
 17. wouldnt reccomend using any type of fuel on your skin, but to answer your question, Aspen doesn't contain any solvents (35% in pump fuel) and for this reason is not going to be as good for removing sticky grime such as sap. I always use fairy liquid and left over coffee granules to get rid of dirt on skin. Works a treat and won't poison you!
 18. Hi Andy, nice to see you've given it a try. some people notice the difference straight away whilst for others it takes a little longer or even until they go back to normal petrol. Just got off with Daniel from chipper-tech and he is very interested. He just needs to sort out the insurance and make sure all is in place before getting any product in stock. will keep you posted.
 19. woah! lots of questions but il try to answer them all. 1) recycling the cans - The 5L cans are made out of HDPE and carry the recycling symbol which is the 3 arrow triangle with a number 2 inside. This is the same as plastic milk bottles and as you know these are recyclable. After draining the cans you can take them to your local recycling centre (its probably best if you remove the labeling sleeve as when reading this its easy for the recycling staff to turn you away due to the fact it says petrol on it). alternatively they can be burnt as Garden-kit has already said. 2) container sizes - a 25L plastic can is available from aspen in sweden, in the UK however it is illegal to supply fuel in any plastic container bigger then 5L. for us to fill the product into metal 25L containers would make the product more expensive then buying it in 5L containers. just a thought, maybe a 50L container would work well for some of you? especially those of you who may need to get the product delivered until you have a local dealer. i could look into pricing if this seems appealing but please send me a PM if you are rather then writing it in this thread. 3) Availability - yes this is a problem which is always being looked at, we are taking on a new sales guy who will hopefully be able to help us establish new dealers better as he has both owned his own workshop and worked for a large garden machinery store in the south who now sell lots of Aspen even though a few months ago they were very skeptical about taking it on. its hard to get to see every shop quickly which is why i urge you to help out in with recommendations as it is hard to know which shops are good and which aren't. Apart from storage issues, the main reason a lot of shops won't stock our products is because they think they will loose out on business in repairs from fuel related problems. This i think says a lot about our product and the mentality of some of the shop owners in this business. 4) Andy collins - CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
 20. Here is an online version of the HSE guidelines for storing fuel. http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/priced/hsg51.pdf as for insurance, it would be best to speak to them directly but if you abide by the HSE rules which are applicable then i couldn't imagine you would have a problem. when we talk about a pallet we are talking about 54cans of Aspen and as rob said we do have fuel containers still available at a great price.
 21. Hi Andy, i have sent you a pm about getting a dealer closer yourself so you can give Aspen a try, so hopefully we can make that happen! I see what you mean about the service station comment when it comes to availability but you really cant compare normal petrol to Aspen. Thats a bit like comparing chainsaw trousers brought from a specialist arb shop to a set of regular cheap trousers from your local clothes shop. They are both trousers but i know which set i would want to be using whilst using a chainsaw just to be on the safe side!
 22. Great thread Garden-kit , hope you don't mind me stealing a few of your pictures.
 23. this isn't something which will happen in the next month or so but its a step in the right direction thats for sure! Will keep you posted with any progression
 24. thanks to everyone who has sent in their story and pictures. will get the fillpartners on their way to you guys tomorrow!
