  1. swear i sent you a pm ages ago... anyway professional pricing on a 200L drum of Aspen 2 = £482.40 +VAT Delivery cost for 1 drum = £40 + Vat, delivery on 2 drums is free
  2. lets not turn this into a big debate over how fuel is made as that is not important. All that we need to know is that road fuels contains Benzene, aromatic hydrocarbons, along with other nasties which are fine in a car but isn't so good for operators of small garden machinery. its up to the individual user to choose if they use it or not but it isn't fair for people who have never given alkylate petrol a good test to write negative comments only based on assumptions.
  3. seems strange to me that you are worried about the "elf and safety people" when it comes to storing a bit of fuel, but you don't seem bothered about the fact that you and your fellow men are breathing in toxic emissions everyday... especially when there is suitable storage containers available. I have never said that i am "pretty certain" that aspen contains no solvents, this response was to your question about why the oil doesn't separate. petrol you get from the pumps contains 35% aromatic hydrocarbons (solvents) aspen (which is Alkylate petrol) contains less then 0.1%. i.e virtually solvent free. does that answer your question? 90% of saws run on 50:1 and aspen is also available in a non mixed version (aspen 4) so you can achieve the same benefits but Taylor the mix to suit your requirements.
  4. great to hear, enjoy using Aspen and let us know your experiences once youve given it a fair test. all the best
  5. Some stores may still have some cans of Aspen left which is the faint straw colour like you have aquired. the reason we have changed it too a darker orange is to make it easier to see that it has oil added to it. RE: your performance issues There are 2 things which can lead to poor performance when switching to aspen from normal unleaded. 1) You might need to richen up the low speed screw by quarter of a turn if the saw is picking up poorly from bottom end revs. 2) If its been run on normal unleaded for a long period of time then the normal fuel could have effected the rubbers in the carburettor if they are of a cheap quality (happens to about 3% of saws or so) the way to solve this is to change the rubber parts in the carburettor and the saw will be good as new again.
  6. Hi Pete, sounds like your one of the sceptics who are judging the product without giving it a fair try. The benefits of Aspen aren't made up and you can see this by reading what people who have actually tried the product say about aspen. I will have to ask one of the really tech guys to truly answer your question about why the oil doesn't separate although i am pretty certain its to do with the fact that alkylate petrol doesn't contain any solvents and is also chemically stable unlike road fuel. you can mix any synthetic based 2 stroke oil with alkylate petrol and get the same non separating effect as with aspen 2. Compared to regular road fuel's, Aspen contains only 10 of the least harmful hydrocarbons and contains virtually 0% benzene, sulphur, aromatics and olefins. offcourse the emissions when running on Aspen aren't 0 but the difference to the emissions that the same machine would produce when running on road fuels is massive. 114 times less benzene emissions in a typical saw. for health effects i recommend that you have a look on the internet as there is plenty of information available of the effects of benzene and solvents to the human body. ( http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg329.pdf heres one on benzene to get you started) As for the price, its the same with any product. you pay for quality and convenience. im guessing you are using stihl or husqvarna machines instead of cheaper machines available on the market for the very same reason. you might be seeing the emporer without his clothes on but i think you will find that anyone who has switched to using Aspen see's him fully clothed try it for a couple of weeks. only way to give it a fair try
  7. I bet if you were to open it up you would find a right oily mess in the disc cutter if you have been running it with that much oil.
  8. Pump fuel in the UK can legally contain up to 5% ethanol without any labelling or warning as such. this 5% limit will stay untill at least 2013. This is when they will consider 10% ethanol being introduced.
  9. Cant please everyone but the fact that it is ready mixed is only one of the small advantages running aspen provides. without trying it I can understand that you cant appreciate the higher cost. but as the guy above said (along with anyone that has tried it) it is worth the extra cost. I'm sure you don't use the cheapest chainsaws to get your job done for example.... I still think that if they guy had known or been told that Aspen 2 goes in this hole and chain oil goes in that hole then he would be a fool to get it mixed up. certainly don't think its a good idea to be using a chainsaw if you think that a chainsaw can run on chain oil, sounds like a recipe for disaster. Aspen or not
  10. As others have already advised, using Aspen 2 would have totally avoided this problem and although initially more expensive would have saved you so much money from all this messing about and maybe even damaging your saw. think smart, sometimes spending more, saves you money. (if that makes sense???)
  11. If you run the saw on aspen fuel, you can leave it with fuel in for as long as you like and you wont have any performance issues next time you start the saw again.
  12. You got it wrong mate, if you want the best fuel for your saws it stars with A and ends with N.
  13. The Fillpartner is a great way to easily fill up your machines without spilling any of your valuable Aspen fuel! It fits straight onto the 5L Aspen kit and garauntees a spill free fitting. for more info see Products - clean fuels, environmental and green fuels, petrol and bio diesel in the uk To get one of these little beauties free of charge, all you have to do is tell us why you choose to use Aspen fuel and tell us one of your Aspen inspired stories. please include the following • Your name and business name • Profession • Why you Always choose Aspen and Your Aspen story • A picture of yourself in action using an Aspen product (funniest or most creative picture also gets a free Aspen t-shirt) Please send all entries to [email protected] These will go on our website under testimonials so if you have a problem with that then please don't submit an entry.... simples! dont forget to include your address in the email so we can send you your new Fillpartner. for the time being its limited to the first 5 entries from arbtalk members but i might extend this depending on response. 14. talking about the gadget show, did anyone see it last night when they broke the record for the worlds fastest powertool driven vehicle? got excited when i spotted they were running on our Aspen 2 fuel!
  15. Anyone tried running it on Aspen and having the same problems as with regular petrol?
  16. maybe that come across a bit strong, most of the time im sure there is nothing wrong with supermarket fuel as it has to have met the british standards. A couple of years ago there was a big incident where fuel from tescos and morrisons contained silicone which damaged a lot of cars, google it and you will see. I have heard a lot of horror stories about supermarket related fuel problems as when we arent supplying clean fuels to guy like yourselves we also supply clean burning racing fuels to most of the racing cars in the UK. Why take the risk for a couple of pence saving?
  17. Just to clear things up regarding all of this, The octane rating on fuel is its ability to withstand detonation. In the UK we show The RON value at our pumps (Research Octane number) In the US they show the AKI value (Anti Knock Index) which is an Average of RON and MON (Motor octane number). this is why you may get confused as to think the octane is lower on american pump fuels. For example, 95 unleaded in the uk has a typical octane of 95 RON and 87 MON. AKI around 91. Octane is not especially important for a chainsaw, the most important thing is that you get your fuel from a good source. i would strongly advise not using supermarket fuels unless you really have to as these are known to be the worst. Regarding Ethanol: Ethanol is an oxygenator which increases power and lowers emissions, all fuel in the UK at the pump is currently E5 (5% ethanol) but is set to rise to 10% in the near future. in the US, in most states it is already a requirement that all pump fuels should be E10 and this is what is causing problems for garden equipment in america. The problem with ethanol is that it attracts moisture if not stored carefully and this is not good for engines. Ethanol is also very corrosive and E10 in america has proven that the rubbers in carburettors in particular do not like this high level of ethanol. In short, fuel is set to get worse for your chainsaws if your buying from the pumps for your machines. The solution to all of your fuel worries: Use Alkylate petrol (such as Aspen) which contains no nasty ingredients which could damage both you and your machines!
  18. Also, as far as supply goes. if anyone finds that they do not have a local dealer, please suggest one to us and go tell the store directly why you think that they should be stocking it. Failing that, we can supply the product on a 2-3 day standard delivery for a flat fee of £20 (for anything from 1 can to 54). any more then 54 cans and you will get free delivery (because we are nice like that) Any questions, drop me a pm or give me a call. Here to help Axel 01929 555971
  19. £17.60 is the RRP of a 5L can of Aspen 2. You say you don't use very much, seems like the price shouldn't be much of a problem then
  20. Hi Andy,

It's usually a standard fee of £20 for any amount. However I would have to check what the cost would e to Aberdeen as it's a bit further then usual.

Will check when I'm back in the office on monday.

Regarding retuning, you will probably not need to make any adjustments. If you do then you will need to richen it up by a little bit on the low speed.

    Cheers

    Axel

  21. Maybe they were running used chip fat oil on their chain and hence no horrible emissions from the fuel they were able to smell chips! Look on http://www.find-aspen.co.uk for your nearest aspen stockist or drop me a pm if no one is close so that we can find you an alternative source or as a last resort we can supply you direct. /Axel
  22. Lucky that isn't the case then:thumbup1:
  23. Hi there, As previously mentioned, Husqvarna endorses aspen so no warranty issues what so ever. I would start off on aspen and stay with it as it will garauntee best performance and longevity of the saw. Enjoy, Axel
