  1. Great thread! This is what we are constantly training to explain to people when they laugh at Aspen being that much more expensive than using regular pump fuel and mixing It themselves with oil. The average fuel usage per tree worker (excluding milling) is around 3 litres per day. That’s 0.375L per hour. Based on this the difference would only be around 45p per hour more expensive if a company chose to supply their workers with Aspen 2 compared to regular petrol. Add this to the £20+VAT cost per hour of the average worker and suddenly it seems like a much smaller increase in costs. One of the biggest costs is having workers wasting time and being unproductive. If you have the space for storage, then we can deliver a small sized pallet (270L) of Aspen with free of charge delivery. This means you can quickly pick up the correct amount of fuel at the start of the day and be on your way to the job very quickly, no need to spend time mixing oil with the potential risk of damaging machines. Warning: users of aspen fuel report effects such as feeling better at work, being less tired and having fewer days off work. p.s we have just started talks with a politician who thinks they may be able to help get the road fuel duty removed on Aspen which would make it up to 57.95p per litre cheaper! We are very excited about this will keep you posted.
  2. yeah that's never pleasant! would the dealership in sandwich be closer? if you would recommend them as a reputable business then please give me their details and I will do my best to get them to stock it for you.
  3. Opening up this offer again! we have just got our new website up and running Aspen Fuel :: Home so we are really keen to get some of your pictures/stories up on our site. please send us a picture of yourself/your team in action and a quick explanation of why you choose to use aspen. (might seem obvious, but not to everyone) and in return we will send you a fillpartner in the post. if you have a website for your business then we will include this on our site which will also help google rate your own website higher. every ones a winner!....
  4. quick update: we now have a new website Aspen Fuel :: Home and the old dealer list has been removed. we now only use the google map dealer locator which should be up to date. If you get any trouble from your nearest aspen stockist please give us a call or message me directly on here and I will sort out any issues regarding availability etc. if you are still finding that your local store does not seem to be stocking our products then get in touch as there is no reason why they shouldn't be! Axel
  5. Not produced by Aspen but we do have a gas to liquid diesel called EcoPar. see this link Aspen Fuel :: EcoPar Diesel Also available as a red diesel for your chippers etc.
  6. Most fuel companies will produce alkylate petrol at least in some of their refineries. however they will use it to dilute bulk petrol to make it fit for the forecourts if the petrol produced has exceeded one of the limits of benzene for example.
  7. Hey guys, A lot has been said in this thread and I will try to answer them as best as i I can. Firstly lets get one thing clear, Anglo American Oil Company ltd is NOT comparable to the multi million $ companies in the petroleum industry such as EXXON etc. We are in fact a family run business. We don't drive flash cars, our office is based at our home and we work very hard for a living just like you guys. Hope that helps a little with the thought of our profit margins as from some of the comments on this forum it feels as if some of you think we are trying to rob you of your money or we are being greedy... The price of the products we sell is relative to the admin and distribution costs as well as purchasing costs of the product itself (just like with any product). Aspen is no different in its pricing to any other products you buy in the uk. Economies of scale do play a part in this and any savings we can make from bulk purchasing will be passed on to the end customer. The biggest drop in price would however be if we could get the road fuel duty removed as this would see an instant drop of 58p per litre. This is where we will need your support. You guys can also make a saving buy buying in bulk, we offer 10% professional discount with free shipping on all orders over 54 cans. This can be ordered through your local dealer and we will send it straight to you. The great thing about Aspen is that it really does work (as can be seen from the comments of people who use the product on this forum) as well as in the real world throughout europe where it is sold in much bigger volumes and has been so for years. The benefits of using Aspen over pump fuels are there for you to see and IMO if it costs £5-10 more per user per day to use but makes his/her day more enjoyable due to not having to inhale fumes all day then that should justify the product enough. I mean a lot of people spend that money each day on degrading their health by buying junk food and cigarettes etc. As for the dealer network, we are working hard on improving it but not all shops are like GardenKit and can understand the product. Many are ignorant or would rather recommend pump fuel to their customers as they don’t want to lose out business in their repair shop due to all of the fuel problems they will get because of it! When you are ready to make the change or even just give it a try but find that you don’t have an Aspen dealer close to you, just give us a call and recommend your local machinery shop and we will help you by making sure its stocked there for you! If you have any specific questions regarding Aspen you can always give us a call in the office or send us a personal message on here. Our number is 01929 551557 Ask to speak to Anders or Axel we are here to help. Have a nice day Axel
  8. give it a try in your hedge cutter and let us know what you think. i think you will be pleasantly surprised
  9. Sorry if i may have offended anyone, my reply was merely as a joke to his which in all fairness was another sly remark on treequips behalf. you must understand that it gets annoying after a while when the same people who i assume have never tried aspen before, slate our product so hard in order to stop others from trying. Its frustrating when on one hand i get people at shows etc telling me how our products make their day at work so much better and then i get on here and constantly get told its too expensive etc... The thing that made us import aspen in the first place was when we were cutting up a tree for firewood over christmas on my grandmothers land (in sweden). we run out of Aspen 2 and because all the shops were shut we had to resort to using regular unleaded. Thats when we realised how good the product is and from there we started promoting it in the uk. so yes i have used a chainsaw, and yes i know you guys aren't oblivious to health and safety. the reason i direct people to the aspen dealer finder website (or the "stupid link"?) when they ask for their nearest dealer is it then helps others to find ones nearer to them. we are here to help, not to force you to use our products, thats your choice but please dont put others of from trying.
  10. sorry we cant help but unfortunately Anglo American Oil Company doesn't cover Ireland. the distributor over there is called liffey distributors. thanks
  11. look on http://www.find-aspen.co.uk for your nearest dealer. if theres not one close enough then let us know and we will do our best to source one for you.
  12. all reputable companies get a set discount on Aspen when they order from us, no matter how big or small (minimum order 54 cans for free postage), we call this the professional price and should also be negotiable with your nearest dealer. unfortunately its not 20% as margins on fuel aren't that great but give us a call in the office for the latest prices.
  13. that would be nice No, we are not working on making it mandatory but it is nice that a major company has recognised the benefits of Aspen after testing it properly. And hopefully because of this, more employees of similar business' will also benefit from their choice. Regards to choice, off course that's important but when it comes down to something as important as your health, is that really something that should be considered? For small companies or one man bands it's easy to make the decision or not but for the employees of big companies it's usually very difficult to get improvements like this heard to the man or woman in charge - who coincidentally never has to put up with the emissions behind his or her air conditioned desk...and only looks at saving pennies. That's why this is such a great step in the right direction for a better working environment for you guys.
  14. Anyone working for the company on the forum should be very pleased about this. This is a massive step forward in establishing Aspen as part of a tree climbers PPE in the UK and we hope that this will encourage other professionals to do the same and give their employees the protection they deserve. "Anglo American Oil Company (AAOC) is pleased to be supplying Scottish and Southern Electric (SSE) with Aspen fuel for all their tree cutters. SSE is the largest company in the UK to date who have realised the benefits of using Aspen alkylate petrol and have implemented it into their health and safety programme" click here to read full press release
  15. It works out at about twice the cost, seems expensive when fuel prices are already at an all time high but when you work out your overall costs of running your business for a day i think you will find that its only a very small increase overall. most users aren't worried about the price once they get used to using Aspen as they notice how much better they feel at work. machines will also last longer and you dont have to be worried about potential damage to your machines due to poor quality fuel/oil mixtures! i suggest you give it a try, we wouldn't be in business if it wasn't for the fact that people believed it was worth it!
  16. They're having big problems in america with machines now that they have introduced 10% ethanol in a lot of states. another reason why you should use alkylate petrol which is designed especially to protect your small engined machinery.
  17. If it helps, I will try and get the prices for the 5L cans of aspen 2 in the popular countries in Europe. please note you cant compare the costs of Aspen at the pumps to what you have to pay for it in the can.
  18. give it a try, then write your impressions on here to give others your feedback. you will love the difference it makes
  19. Excellent point GardenKit, and to add to that, a helmet only protects you when you bump your head. Aspen protects you constantly. As for the price of the fuel, that is something that you just have to except. A better product is always going to be more expensive then its cheaper alternative although I would love to see the road duty of 57pence per litre dropped on alkylate fuels.
  20. that should be fine, maybe give it a little shake before using just to be sure.
  21. Great thread guys I think this is really helpful for people who are sceptical about trying the product, and it is really nice to see so many positive comments about how you are benefiting from the products which we sell! As for anyone who is struggling to get hold of our products and find that they don't have a local dealer. have you tried approaching them and telling them how you would like to use the fuel and why they should stock it. if we work together then i'm sure we can sort something we are trying our hardest to get as many dealers as possible to make it convenient for yourselves but it is very hard sometimes unless people like yourselves approach them and tell them why you want to use it.
  22. Hi Rover, Alkylate petrol (Aspen 2 and Aspen 4) will not "go off" you can use Aspen 4 and mix it with Aspen 2 stroke oil or any other fully synthetic oil of your choice and you wont have any problems with seperation. (Aspen 4 mixed at 50:1 with Aspen 2 stroke oil = Aspen 2) as long as you do not mix Aspen 4 with a castor based oil then you should not have any problems
  23. the higher price is due to alkylate petrol being more expensive to produce then standard road fuel because it is a much more refined fuel. other things which add to the cost include logistics, packaging and the years of research gone into making a fuel designed especially for small garden machinery. i will get back to you next week with a much better answer as im actually just about to go on holiday. in the meantime you can have a read through the aspen guide Contents - Aspen 2011 it should hopefully answer some of your questions but please bare in mind this has been translated from swedish to english so some things might read slightly odd. chow for now
  24. "And how do you remove said nasties and where to they go ? ( I suspect the answer is into the air - which shoots a large hole in the green argument , though i'd be happy to be proved wrong)" alkylate petrol is made from surplus gases in the distilation and cracking process's see Alkylate Petrol - clean fuels, environmental and green fuels, petrol and bio diesel in the uk hope this also answers your questions about how alkylate petrol is made.
  25. last time i checked it was 0.5785p (from memory) per litre which is included in that price.
