  1. Nice work I'm 25 and only have one full time employee and that's stressful enough! So fair play to you. Out of interest how did you find your two guys? Been thinking about getting someone part time as well now so I have more time to do admin etc
  2. Thanks for the help, I have looked on the website and it doesn't say a great deal tbh.
  3. Anyone been to treefest before? Just wondering what it's like, thinking of going on the Sunday
  4. Nice pics, how do you rate the timberwolf 125?
  5. Cheers for that! Good to know!
  6. I was always taught that Silver Birch trees should be pruned in the summer when they are in full leaf. Is this correct or can they be done in the winter as well? I have work booked up until October/November and had a couple of calls about Birch trees that i need to get back too. Cheers in advance
  7. OK Cheers, anyone know anything about the oregon flexiblade strimmer line that they recommend for their jet fit heads?
  8. If mine is 31cc whats the max size cord i can use?
  9. I'm in the market for some new strimmer line and came across this old thread, its got lots of interesting information and has got me questioning my current set up... I use a fs94rce for everyday use with 2.4mm stihl line for round lawns etc. I've also got a fs100 which is used for large grass areas and churchyards, round graves etc and even wildflower meadows at the end of the season. Which at the moment i only use a autocut head and the 2.4mm line in. But i'm thinking of changing this set up, maybe to an oregon jet fit or portek head? Now what size cord should i be using for my size of machine? and which head would suit that cord best? Thanks in advance, James.
  10. Interesting, when u first got my hiflex ones I tried on the of pfanners and found they were heavier! Looks like the designs changed now though
  11. Yeah they are! About £70 more than the hiflex!
  12. My stihl hiflex trousers are due for renewal and was just wandering if there are any other ones people could recommend? I like the look of the sip ones or the stihl x-fit but can't make my mind up!
  13. Thanks for taking the time to put up that video I am impressed by the m500's capabilities. I'm now looking into them as well, my other option is the timberwolf 125ph. I just have a couple of questions for you howuch did you pay for it and did you buy it new? Also how many hours work do you do with it before you sharpen the blades? Cheers, james
  14. My transit t350 needs some new tyres and i just wandered if anyone could recommend a brand that lasts well? The current ones are bridgestone and i don't rate them that much for wear...
  15. I'm on the lookout for a second hand timber wolf 125 and just wandered if there any reputable companies someone could recommend that deal in second hand chippers? cheers, James.
  16. Just been catching up with this thread and i think this comment is spot on. When i was at college (yes i'm one of those..) one of biggest issues with the course was the lack of useful information given about how to actually run a successful business. We even had a business course but in all honesty it was not related to arb in anyway and not helpful at all. I'm not saying everyone should or may not want to have their own business. But if they do it should be a sustainable way of living.
  17. ahh ok cheers how big is the arb show this fri/sat in comparison to the Confor show then?
  18. Thats the one at warwickshire right? I've seen it but its a it too far to travel and do in a day. Is the APF the same one that was in Longleat last year?

    My accident

Was the article in essential arb? i really need to get a subscription sorted for that... If it is in there is it possible to order back issues? Looks like an interesting read as i have followed sean's thread from the start.
  20. Just thinking about whether or not to go to the arb show or not? I've never been before as i'm always working weekends but now i'm in my fourth year trading I thought i'd try and take a bit more time off to relax etc. I've got a lot of work building up and am not sure whether if I go and its not any good i'll be thinking damn i should have done that job today rather than persponing it! (I have always had the work ethic of working when the works there...) The woes of being self employed haha
  21. Cheers I'll look into it. Do you know a decent internet supplier by any chance? All the ones i'd normally use only seem to only do metric socket sets. Also how do you rate facom socket sets if you have them?
  22. I could do with a decent socket set to maintain my equipment etc etc as i'm tired of making do with borrowed tools or just old rubbish, incomplete sets i have been given over the years. I know Facom is suppose to be a decent brand but i can't find a set with imperial sizes as well. So if anyone has seen them in imperial sizes please let me know or otherwise please could you recommend another brand/set to go for? cheers guys!
  23. who supplies the bin if you don't mind me asking?
  24. Interesting! Not quite sure whether to leave it as is or treat it...
