  1. Do you know which batteries he was using? There are a few different ones the more you pay the longer they are suppose to last...
  2. It's the long reach I'm interested in
  3. how come jonsie and honey bros aren't there this year? wanted to go and get some stuff from them...
  4. I do a lot of hedgecutting and have been chewing over the idea of getting a battery powered long reach hedgecutter. The one i was thinking of is a stihl HLA85 with the AL500 AND AP300 battery. Now all in the cost is close to £600, so thats a lot of money! I just wanted to know if anyone has got any experience of using these and what sort of size growth they could handle? Like would they be ok on a years growth on a hawthorn hedge or is that asking to much of it? Cheers, James.
  5. Would they be any good for lawns cut on a fortnightly basis? Could speed up a few jobs of mine if it would cope ok.
  6. Yup i'll be there! anyone know if dogs are allowed??
  7. I'm looking for a self employed worker to help me out on an as and when basis, there is potential for a couple of days work every week when i get really busy during the summer (July/August/September). The work is mainly grounds maintenance so mowing, strimming hedgecutting etc etc. I do a lot of large hedgecutting jobs so it will probably one day of that maybe more and the other time would be the landscape maintenance side of things etc. I do more tree work during the winter so there is potential for that as well if everything goes well. My business is small with just myself and one other guy (who is now part time hence the reason i'm looking for someone to fill in the gap) I'm based in the South east near Basingstoke/Hampshire. pm me on here if your interested and i'll get back to you as soon as I can. James.
  8. Thanks for the reply, I like the idea of using the transparent stuff. Got a supplier you regularly use or a particular brand you could recommend me?
  9. I've got a few knots etc In some pieces of wood I would like to make chopping boards and perhaps a table top. What can I use to fill in the gaps and make sure the knots do not come out? I've heard of resin being used, would this work? And where can I get some from? Cheers, James.
  10. I know what you mean, I just can't decide whether it's worth the extra hassle or not to take another person on. Decent subbies seem hard to come by as well.
  11. How do people go about finding decent people to work for them? I could do with either employing someone for a couple days a week or preferably finding a decent subcontractor help me out as and when. It would Mostly be for landscape maintenance work as that side of my business is doing well at the moment. Cheers, james
  12. I'm looking to take on some subcontractors in the Hampshire/Wiltshire area to help me with a contract I can't manage on my own but don't want to let the opportunity slip by as it's good work. The work involved is just keeping grass/shrubs and hedges tidy during the summer and the odd bit of weed spraying/control. The sites are mostly a few rented properties where the communal areas are kept tidy as part of their rent. So my question is would anyone on here be interested in this type of work or know where I could start looking for someone? Cheers, James.
  13. Do you know if there is a lot of difference in retail price between the two? I imagine the greenmech to be quite a bit more?...

    New rope

    New rope

Thanks for the reply, I do like 11mm rope I just like the lightness and feel of a smaller rope. I might give the velocity a go, but I always found Samson ropes a bit harsh on the hands?

    New rope

I never was worried about my friction cord to much if you use a prussick you tend to replace it a bit more often so always tended to buy cheaper stuff! Anyone know anything about the yale imori or hedera? Havn't seen/heard any views on them.

    New rope

Cheers what friction cord do you use? I always just use what i can get my hands on which is usually Teufelberger Sirius, you know that black and green stuff..

    New rope

I have always used Yale blaze and i'm now in need of a new rope and fancied a change. Could anyone recommend another rope that's similar diameter and is good to use with a prussik or hitchclimber set up? I have seen the yale blue tongue and know a lot of people who use it with the zigzag so was going to have a go on that. I like a softer rope if you get what i mean...

    Mowers

I've been sorting out my workshop and I have too many mowers so I think I'm going to sell a couple. But I would like a bit of advice of you guys before i sell up. I have two mowers that i'm thinking of selling. One is an Asuka 19" cut TN1951SXK that is in pretty good knick, I'm not sure how old it is but it hasn't been used a lot as i tend to use 21" mowers 99% of the time. The other one is a Lawnflite 21" 553HWS PRO this one was used for a couple of years but has had a few gearbox issues so i retired it and brought a honda instead. Both machines are the 4wheeled type not the roller versions. Firstly how much do you think I should be asking for these machines? and where is the best place to advertise them? Its not really the best time of year to try and sell mowers but want to have a good clear out. Cheers, james.

    Seat Covers

Anyone know where I can get some decent quality seat covers for a 2014 transit tipper? I don't want those really thin type of ones that always come off or rip! Cheers guys.
  22. Thanks for the reply, no I havn't considered that. It looks very similar what sort of effect will it have on the tree? The picture was taken on the 9th of October this year. Cheers James.
  23. Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking? Readings pretty near me so was thinking about having a look at one.
