  1. Next people will be referring to the GRCS Vs Hobbs video, why lower a car when its parked in a tree............... Personally i thoroughly enjoyed it nice to see what happens if it snaps and the effects on the root plate.
  2. None, we felled them all turned them into ship masts and sailed away from here
  3. Great video, BUT...... i feel you missed out on giant rope swing Part II
  4. theres a couple SRT Single Rope Technique SRTWA Single Rope Works Access (normally refered to as an access line) SRTWP Single Rope Works Positioning (carrying out work)
  5. SRTWP since feb 12 SRTWA since 07. Personally for me the best things have been faster and more efficient access to the the crown. Also being able to direct multiple times without the loss of fricton consistancy and WP easily on the outside of the crown is great. I know you lose the mechanical advantage of DRT but a loss that i honestly havent really missed. So now to the body bits. My core has got much stronger, no more back ache or knackered biceps from climbing up and the RSI's that come with the territory. I feel im about 20-30% quicker on medium to bigger trees, unless its a removal and then im only fractionally quicker because of access times. Im going to give a uni a go as after seeing dan ascend on it i was really impressed with its slack tendering, just like the RW LJ combo but with none of the sit back.
  6. so a couple form today. Barge in to start removing the 100's of tonnes of timber we felled across the site for the restoration project. Its been handy to jump back and see how the sites getting on. Were just clearing the risk of windthrow trees on the edge of the navigation channel so nice and easy, tie, fell (big splash) then portable winch out.
  7. i tend to use a dmm ring as it seems to bight better and releases easily. I've retrieved this setup form about 5 natural redirects. Only hard thing is getting the alpine to move but once it starts it comes out easily enough. You still snowed in Benn??
  8. By all means you can adam.
  9. Nothing really, i love it soooooo much because of it customisation BUT id rather have a faster ascent on the trees and the uni is king for a toothless system. Also its nice to have other knowledge and experience in other SRT setups, not used the HH yet but would rather try one before i buy as i havent seen one in the flesh yet.
  10. The only thing that gets me with the HH is that i think the Uni is better and is exactly the same. After seeing Dans i am thinking of spending some pennies and getting one. (Ascent rate was rapid)
  11. Nice site, cool kit. You love that hammer Adam ive seen it in more than one of you vids
  12. Its worth giving Frank a PM (Darren Spencer) im sure hes travelling long distances etc. Might give you some info on stuff, un realised costs. Also ive climbed with adam and chatted to about work, hes clued up and much faster than me at ascending the tree and im like lightning fast (im not more like electric wheel chair with a flat battery) Oh and good with a throwline go into the top of an 80ft chestnut with ease.
  13. Think of the publicity you could get from coming along:thumbup1:
  14. Nice shot, i will add that using a bowline needs a half hitch lock off or something that doesnt allow ANY slip in the line when its not loaded. With 15mins of playing by shaking it whilst monitoring our woodchip that was set o fire i manged to pretty much un do it.
  15. whats it like in long lengths ben, kern is a little bouncy in the +50m lengths
  16. windows movie maker or imovie. Plenty good enough for having a play or at the other end Final cut pro is amazing to work with.
  17. The remote sign in at the bottom near the youtube icon???
