1. Nice photo-colour, the bit on the backhandle was bugging me tho.
2. So today i busted out the time lapse feature on the gopro2. Shot taken every 15 seconds. I stopped it during the clear up as i thought it would be monotonous to view. Hd is better and full screen Enjoyment optional. [ame] [/ame]
3. A none aesthetically appeasing tree can knock up to £30.000 off a property price. I have even in the past been sent in to remove the tree as it added more value on the property. Thats what we did on my beech highlights video. Removed for sales point as it was nearly dead.
4. Now im not saying your telling the truth BUT my TO (tree officer) would be phoning me up and saying A) your off the county contractor list. B) this isnt to bs3998 (yes i know some techniques aint in it) C) im putting TPo's on any tree you apply for with the word reduction. Just my personal opinion as its a forum and i would refuse to do that kind of spec unless in doing retrenchment pruning, vetranisation. Although i would still do it differently. But keep working and take the critiques opinions on board and do as you please, be it strive to never do a tree like that again or continue.
5. Cool pic!!!!
6. So i started doing some carvings (first ones) just before christmas and thought id start a thread documenting IF i get any better over the year. I will post pics up later of my attempts on a mushroom, easter island head, wizards and what started out as an eagle which then became a crabs claw and finished off as a bit of something...
7. I've just bought a sthil 211 with an oregon carving bar. But i am very new to carving.
8. Shes wide at the fork union.
9. Looks tidy Nick, anymore pics
10. pretty much ben, but i think 2m is too long and 1.5-1.7 is better. Add square sponges to the hand grips so if your hand slips its caught on the fatter end rather than loosing your grip.
11. yeah if you give me 2 weeks notice so i can make sure im free i'll come down.
12. Dan, fancy re-measuring that cedar we climbed as it looks like its bigger than the cedars on the website.
13.
Yeah it was that one, yeah stupidly at the moment, so hopefully it will keep me going as i took a full time employee on in september.

14. So i got a 211 with a 10" carving bar. Going to test it out tomorrow
15. Cheers, i think ive got the order of cuts in my head and no has a carving saw and bar. Looking forward to having a lot of attempts.
16.
Yeah sounds good, give us a ring before and i'll make sure i have it. Milling thing sounds fun. Im putting together a email for the farm to see if i can climb and measure the tallest trees in salhouse and write a parish article. Then the plan is to, if it works, approach other farms/landowners and see if they would let us climb them.

17.
Nope, you can have it. Give me a shout when you want to pick it up. Im in the yard tomorrow and friday then working sat but id be at home in norwich sunday late afternoon

18. I'll pop some stuff up on facebook when i dig it out next.
19. ah ha, i had a aspen fuel spout turn up today and have just found out it was from here. Yep im a tool for forgetting arbtalk has a raffle. But cheers steve of organising it year after year, all those who donated stuff and nice one to all those who bought some tickets and raised £7000.00
20. Cheers Jack, Its a metal shelving bracket i found. Add the gopro sticky mount and pin it to the tree with a drill. I use it with extension bar to get some good off stem shots of climbing.
