1. I prefer it on leggy trees as i can make bigger swings onto limbs by setting up re-directs to get across. I was a avid sj user until srt came on a bit better. Yes occasionally id like it to tend a bit better like when im doing a 5% ash reduction but all in i prefer it. But then again i am an avid redirect user now tho.
2. I know a guy who has one of them in scotland, said its saved them a lot of time and is paying for itself quickly. Apparently very powerful but cost near 1k.
3. Did i spot Callum for a split second on that mountain top?
4. from these tests id say the only thing that the SJ wound be risky on is a tether sever but from what ive seen the RW acts as a decelerator allowing the lj to bite.
5.
Yeah two videos one from head cam and other from the ground so i can guestimate the fall distance Vs body damage

6. Well Dan Curtis and myself did some drop tests on the RW/LJ setup. Thanks to Adam Bourne off here for supplying the Lockjack. No damage to either that would stop them from being used again. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo-vh3dFt-0]Lockjack/Rope Wrench Drop tests - YouTube[/ame]
7. Mark, i have the honeys one. if you clip it into a pinto pulley its a good length or to the side of the pulley on a hitchclimber. Now for the drop tests video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fo-vh3dFt-0]Lockjack/Rope Wrench Drop tests - YouTube[/ame]
8.
Drop test video uploading as we speak. Im going to put together the video cam stuff you did as it was getting to 10mins and wanted them short so i'll stick that up a bit later once ive finished it.

9. Yeah i have to agree Mark it looked a bit like he did a 8.21%, i like how he gave it a bit of a thin too, looks like a little more light should get through now.
10. On it, still editing it together, theres 2x the footage on everything but all is good.
11. Will do planning on editing it tonight before im away over the weekend
12. Dont know looks like a right tool......
13. I dont use QTRA myself but i do quantify in risk as we all do whether it be 1 in 10.000 , high medium and low or even traffic light systems. Some areas contain higher risk ie high volume of traffic, woodland edges, marsh land. I did look into it a while back and may still do i just prefer to write about it so the client can google "fell to ground level". But i understand its place in much larger surveys. I think some systems work for some sites and some on others. Just my pennies worth on what i think.
14. So better than the RW or just different?
15. So the new mill arrived today although we were all hands on deck getting the felling contract complete before christmas and a few safety works over a busy broad so they can have a lovely boxing day stroll...... Also a call out to make safe a failed willow and we winched a large dead oak.
16. Agreed, its finding one that fits with the task.
17. Nice work, looks like a crew that knows what needs to be done and how to do it. Nice angles and always liked the sub focus song last jungle.
18.
Yeah i does have you running in the mud........ Should be up early next week.

19.
Headcam footage is all good especially the tether cuts!

20. So today Dan Curtis and myself carried out drop tests under the Nomadics on the LJ/RW combo. with a 92kg drop weight over 1ft, 3ft and 6ft slack. One with the RW in neutral and the other with slack above an engaged RW. We also severed the tether during tension and tested the release and dropped the LJ through an 8ft slack by itslef to use as a control/comparison against how the RW makes the system work. I will put together a video over this weekend or early next week. We were both surprised by the results but you will all have to wait and see the video to know if they were good or bad.
21. now my grandfather gave me advice along these lines many years ago and in fairness to him i listened and this ultimately sent me down a road that ended up in arb and beyond. Enjoy [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nif01WZ9aI]What if Money didn't matter - YouTube[/ame]
22. Hero 2 is awesome. Especially as it will come down in price when the 3 is in mass release. Money well spent for me as i use it for advertising my business. Good software is also key to editing things smoothly.
23. A lot of Whitebeams are grafted onto Hawthorn stock and most the apples i have seen have been base grafted and that huge silver pendant lime in chapelfield gardens next to the mexican place is a great example of a graft. +Laburnocytisus 'Adamii' is probably the best example of a hybrid graft laburnham and broom.
24. The Storm Kettle® Shop - Home Page and they have a price match guarantee!!
