To build a barn from oak or larch, or bit of both?

I`d allow half an inch over on most woods,the better you stack them and time of yr milled helps this,as then they dont warp as fast,,,

we havnt plugged the holes yet for two reasons, 1- Dan wont be staying there long,and will need to dismantle the bed again before long, and two I havnt had five minutes to cut any yet,,lol, eventually the headboard ones will be plugged but the side rail ones left.

thanks paul,,this is some oak from a local tree in wokingham we took down 14mths ago...:thumbup1:the oak we took down this week is inline for a chainsaw carving project...

yes mate, the legs are 4x4 quatersawn oak, and the rails are reclaimed 8x2 flooor joists planned up...

after a big crane job the previous day,decided to take a day out and make a bed for one of my lads who has worked for me for a few yrs, hes moving house so thought it was time to give him something back, a good joint effort,and a good use of some of big J`s elm Ive had for a while. (the legs are oak,side rails reclaimed floor joists,and sequoia slats.

hi mate, I`ve just finnished this car port at the front of my new place, I had to apply for planning permission,as it was technically at the front of the property, they gave it too me with a few restrictions, 3.6max ridge height, timber framed, and new hedge to be planted to screen from neighbours, exsisting road side greenary to be retained, and they slapped a tpo on a small(25ft )scotts pine,,,none of these restrictions bothered me,,so they dont always say no:thumbup1:
