  1. depends what the finnished boards will be made into, but the second option would be my preference ,12ft good for large outside table, and 9ft`s easy long enough for any kitchen table.remember to cut slightly large diameter for future planning/sanding.
  2. I cut the timber for mine in the winter, and allow to dry slowly, I also put an 18mm hole in the middle to allow shrinkage from outer in,,,this has mixed results, and if for a wedding I then plug when needed, heres one I made recently, she was having loads of fairy cakes....
  3. i turn laburnum into mushrooms,,,sell every one I make, and its far more than a m3 of logs will fetch,,,
  4. thanks sandspider, one day to cut and plane all the timber and parts, then a day for the mortising and tenons etc, another to glue dowl and assemble, and half a day for final sanding /cleaning up etc.
  5. larch will be fine, you could soak the bits in the ground with creosote, or alternatively sit them on old concrete slabs, my shed down yard has been there for 17yrs so far and still going strong!
  6. heres a few, as you can see the client changed his mind half way through and asked for a curved back instead, just to make things a little trickier.need to find me some longer clamps too ,i only own 1
