  1. I couldn't believe some of the prices, yikes over £200 for a single yew plank, think I need to start an auction down my yard and that was before vat and buyers premium,
  2. store mine in a chemical safe, has a good set of drop bolts and weights a ton, two keys and an allen key for good measure, bolted to the floor.
  3. yesterday's turning on the euro👍
  4. I do indeed, lovely lathe and mines paid for its self 10 times over, its very heavy but I still bolted it to the floor, I paid two grand for mine about ten yrs ago...I have a VB as well but am always drawn back to this one, so quiet.
  5. Looking forward to seeing the results
  6. Check it for nails if yor going to carve it,or sandblast it and use for the base of a table?
  7. look forward to seeing them mark, even after planning , I still sand to get a good finnish, I dont usually use a big wide planks(usually two) for the tops, then I can plane the whole thing, my planner is a god send, I bought it second hand for £600 a few yrs ago and stripped it and refurbished it, its 10hp and runs on 3phase, my jcb could only just lift it,lol. I bolt the benches together so if any parts fail due to knots or vandalisum i can unbolt and replace, or repair, that part was a learning curve as before I`d index screw and plug, but a pig to get out again.
  8. iphone will only allow one pic at a time
  9. Your bang on there Kevin,I'm one of those people who buy something if I like it and appreciate it,and I have a lovely piece of furniture from a graduate at art college ,it was his degree piece and worth every penny, his face was a picture when I said I'd have it,😆my range of products and prices vary from £3.50 to £15k so there's scope for every one, pubs rarely want to spend £££ on quality stuff like cedar benches but one did last yr and ordered ten, sold two too the hells Angels as party tables, and a couple to big houses which had there own woods,so there is a market, but for every bench I sell I sell 100 bird boxes at £25 each,,,time is the issue, trying to strike a happy balance with keeping the wife happy and not working every minute:001_cool:
  10. there made to go in country parks outside a cafe, and a couple outside a sailing club, so groups can sit on them, having worked in the parks department previously for five yrs, if its not fixed down they walk, or end up being thrown in the lake, these are built so they cant be moved or stolen:thumbup:
  11. i`m with you on this one, ive got a chisel morticer, but once owned the mafell chain one, sold it for more than I bought it but now wish i hadnt, the odd one by hand is great, but cant think of ever using a router, other than hinges,,
  12. the legs are cedar ,and I spend a day planning, mitering, and half lapping the joints, then have a session on the 24" planner ,doing the seats, the tops where 36" across so sanded them with a belt sander, etc, there 10ft long with 3" tops and weigh a ton, so nobodies nicking them, they seat 12 people each .
  13. Been busy making loads of benches, with some lovely cedar👍Deodar👍
