  1. I've got some in Stafford if your still after some. PM sent
  2. HI. Do you add weight to the top of your stack when air drying?
  3. Great thread and reponses, was gonna ask this myself. Is there any way of saving this to refer to?
  4. I use the 3M 6000 series full face mask but more for spraying at work. Like most P.P.E. they're annoying at first but you get used them and you definately get the benefit.
  5. Sorry if this is a bit obvious but do you hold the nose of the bar up before finish tightening? I read this some where and it does seem to help keep the tension on.

Boards look great, I'm new to this myself but I've not done any Oak yet. Just a quick question on your second pic, there are some short cracks or splits on the end of the oak your milling are they superficial or do they run through the board? Thanks.
  7. Really like that! What's Ash like to dry? Does it cup or twist much?

    How thick?

Thanks for the replies! I'll start at 1/2" extra until I get more experienced with the different woods and drying times. Cheers!
  9. Just a quick question(or is it). What do you allow for planing/sanding when cutting unseasoned wood. For example If I want to end up with 2" thick boards what should I mill them out at? Does it depend on the species of wood? Thanks, Bri.
  10. That's good to know Rob. It was nice to see it running(on youtube) before I bought it. Still got plenty of poke
  11. Thanks for the positive comments:thumbup1:(that's my first ever smiley). Yes it is beech, I do plan to use it I've got a few uses in mind, its gonna be more of a hobby though. I am lucky as I have access to quite a bit of wood for free so maybe one day selling could be an option if only to pay for chains etc. Got some oak next:001_tongue:. I was led to believe I have aquired your old set up(Rob D). Cheers, Bri.
  12. Hello all. I've been getting plenty of tips off the forum for the last few months so I thought I'd share my first milling photos with you(if I can). Wasn't expecting much for a first try but it worked out quite well.
