  1. We run kubota's. Our schlieslings zx200 runs on a L3300 about 35hp. It all comes down to parts and service. We have good dealer
  2. I,ve heard the same. Now I have a dilemma, go for the quad chip or some snow gear when I,m at Saltex. unless you could come up with a snow blower attachment for your chippers. Already got salt options secured:001_smile:
  3. No honestly, if you guys need them, I,m sure we could come to some arrangement. We've only two at the moment and they've very low hours on them. Our marching season is like a walk in the park compared to what,s happening in England. I think our local police have offered some of their armoured Landrovers if that's any help. V8 petrol, they have seen some serious action over the years. Keep safe
  4. We had a pair of HS86R with a gear box failure after a year and half. Amazing as we have about a dozen of the older design single sided ones still going strong after up to 10 years. The drive rods and crane rods had gone egg shaped. Got them repaired and are going great again although it's hard to keep grease in the gear box. No problem with the engine so far and we have bought another pair of the HS86T a few weeks ago but at the same time bought a pair of the equivalent Echo ones and we're doing a comparison on them. We have had problem with the BR550 blower engine - had 3 give bother (beyond economic repair) although we've now been told we need to use a particular grade of stihl own brand oil.
  5. Great looking set up. How did you avoid getting your picture taken - too shy, surely not:lol: Excellent trailer conversation and fastrac combination:thumbup1:
  6. On our last H+S review we had to review our "needle Stick" risk assessment for this very reason. I reckon this sort of hazard is one of the scariest we have to deal with!
  7. Looking good - what moisture is it coming off the harvester. With the price of kero, all the guys around us are hoping for a dry harvest.
  8. Just came in the post today - going to sit down and read it now. Nice one:biggrin:
  9. We run a 2 ton Volvo with expanding tracks and two speed tracking. For tree work we fitted a Dig-bits Talon grab - absolutely amazing - should have fitted one years ago. The small Volvo diggers seem to hold their value over here. its our second one and i'd be hard pushed to change makes. Did consider Kubota last time but that was just because we have a load of kubota ride-ons and tractors. The spec for the volvo though was better and the expanding tracks mean it goes down to 3ft to get into places and back out to 4ft for stability.
  10. Funny you should say that - I've been experimenting with our Arb Trolley, our Belle Micro Dumper and a hitch. Reckon it could be the first micro forwarder!
  11. I agree - it is easier to compare prices for machines, like for like than it is to compare a priced job. But it's still annoying when someone undercuts you on a job - so yes there are as always two sidesand exceptions etc etc. But surely if things go the way the car industry has, its the cost of servicing and parts that makes the money not the initial sale so much. So if I was a local dealer I'd just be happy that my local guys are still using the brand I sell and will hopefully come to for service and support (obviously this is going to take a bit of time and therapy to change the mindset). I think you just have to take the work and profit where you can find it now days and ensure your business model evolves.
  12. Hi Richy Just sent you a PM and then had a look at you profile. Watercourse management my change things somewhat in relation to pesticide approval with the environment agency. Japanese Knotweed - Northern Ireland Control Methods
  13. You are looking for a product that has the active ingredient glufosinate - ammonium. Trade brand names include Basta, Finale (although it weaker at 120g/l) Harvest, Kaspar or Kibosh there is also another one called Kurtail which you can get from Progreen online. There are a few videos on the Progreen website that show the products action.
  14. Just looking at this arborjet system online - looks very like this one although maybe the micron one can't achieve the same pressure? But for the money... might be worth a punt Micron Shop - InjectorDos
  15. I guess it all depends on whether you have the resources and time to assemble the necessary contents yourself. We bought excellent aluminium first aid boxes and contents directly from a supplier - although we haven,t aided in the cellox yet although we do have a similar spray (aglinate something?) which is amazing at stopping blood and have used it myself on myself with great success. But if you don't have the time or interest in assembling the contents yourself the Arb Aid kit is excellent. Honestly the kit is only expensive until the day you need its main contents and then like mastercard it's priceless!
  16. Great idea. We always do a yearly refresher no matter what the legal requirements and also when you are doing the training use the first aid kits you have in the vans as the ones you practice with. That way if/when you do have to open them it won't be such a surprise when it all looks different from the one you trained with. We've had our fair share of incidents although mostly involving people other than our staff. The big thing about the arb aid one being the Cellox stuff -reading other posts it certainly looks like a life saver in certain situations
  17. Cut it and leave it for a week. Then use a dutch hoe as a long handled scraper
  18. I think the problem is now that often if you go to court, you get a judgement paying back a tiny amount per month and if you pursue it further the debtor claims harassment. Judges seem to be accepting that we are in difficult financial climate and will award very small monthly replayments. So a debt of £5k could take 3-5 years to get back without interest. Like I said in a previous post - if someone doesn't want to pay you they wont - and that sucks!
  19. Years ago a customer was just about to hand me over cheque when he pulled it back and said - "did I know that if he doesn't want to pay for this job he doesn't have" Confused I asked what he meant. He went on to explain that if some customer doesn't want to pay you for a job you'll find it impossible to get the money out of them. And do you know what - after 21 years in business although it doesn't happen very often, those types are out there. Sometimes you have to be creative to recover debts:biggrin: Joy - yes, this sort of customers makes my blood boil - good luck
  20. So, it all boils down to whether the tree was properly inspected or frequently enough inspected. And then do we get down to a definitive tree survey format carried out by suitablity qualified/experienced person. I can see why the courts can spend so much time discussing cases back and forth - a lot of opinions flying about - Still can't help thinking about those who were affected by this tragedy.
  21. I don't think that a good comparison as a MOT inspector is only confirming that you have been keeping the vehicle road worthy, not that it is necessarily road worthy for 12 months. Does a tree surveyor indemnify the owner until the next inspection is due? I dont know? Interested to hear your thoughts.
  22. Wouldn't a "frock" be more in keeping ( in the biblical sense that is) and provide better ventilation for tree work!
  23. Classic product review:lol::lol:
