  1. Apologies it turns out it's running on a dual platform with windows on it
  2. I,ve been using Sage now for about 15 years. Currently Instant Accounts for the main business and Sage Payrol Line 50 I think for the wages bit. The instant Payrol would be cheaper but you can only process 10 people year and we exceed this. I could,t run the business without it. Great for tracking people who owe you money and for the vat return. Our training company also use it with great success and as mentioned it makes it so much easier to get you accounts done by your accountant at the end of the. Another thing is if you set up lots of nominal accounts you can anaylsis your business so much more, see exactly how much business each customer does with you over a period and how much you spend with each supplier each year - then you are in a stronger position to negoiate deals and rates with them. I,ve always found sage support very effective if not a tad expensive.
  3. Off course you could. Just remember your ropes coil in circles not squares and you'll be fINe:biggrin:
  4. That's good to know. I,ll keep the weights low in them. Thanks:thumbup1:
  5. I bought a load of those flexitub things over Christmas - Tescos have a copy type one in rather sickly colours for £3 each. They're excellent for ropes, slings, pulleys clothing - in fact everything that needs carried or needs a home is finding its way into them now and stack them in the corner. Job done:thumbup:
  6. Today was spent running between making safe fencing on various sites and then bringing to ground branches and trees on other sites. In fact this has formed the majority of our work since we came back on Tuesday. Even managed to get a bit of rigging practice in yesterday on a big wind blown conifer. Getting a good chance to test our latest chipper (recon Schliesing 200mx) we got before Christmas from Masons. I get to buy the toys but don't always get to use them, but this week **** the paper work.
  7. It really is a different climate down there - nice one.
  8. Surely there must be some HMRC department that has a record of what has been allocated to my Unique tax number and as it's my money on account why can't they simply tell me? We had records lost and the tax credit seems to be un traceable
  9. I,d like to know this also. Last time I tried to confirm what we,d paid I got threatened with a £1000 fine for failing to keep proper records. It,s a joke All I was trying to confirm was what I,d already paid
  10. Sounds like you had a close call. Happy New year and keep your pinkies safe
  11. Hope you,re still on course to get out at teatime. Just in time for the big night?
  12. Cool they actually allow you to drink in Scottish Hospitals:thumbup: Have one on me Mr Blair. Hope all is going well.
  13. Could it be the plates have seized together with the damp weather. Some of our vehicles have done this in the past. there are a few probably quite scary ways we sort this involving starting it in gear, pushing in the clutch pedal and standing on the brakes to break the bond. Ready on the choke/off key if it doesn't work. Plenty of space ahead needed. As mentioned just make sure you can kill the engine ASAP if you need to.
  14. Blowing hard here and has been now since last night. Heavy showers now merging into constant wintry rain. Some of the gusts are blowing the weather station in the field about so much it keeps faulting and sending back 5mph readings when its clearing about 30-40mph+ and gusting much higher. Think I'll check it on calmer day. Nipped into our local village (Holywood) and it's quite pleasant for the time of year - 600ft+ of elevation makes all the difference for us up here Happy New Year guys.
  15. From the photo it looks like you both had to climb out the passenger door and he can,t park in a space
  16. Family first and the little one foremost. Not the best start to christmas but one you,ll look back on and never forget. I,m sure Santa will be good to her. Santa,s just left our house and I,m bracing myself for an early start as my 6year twin boys are on the extreme side of excited. Hope she sleeps well and Merry Christmas. PS I,d get the calpol and nurofen junior ready beside
  17. I'd be more worried about all the sawdust and chip clogging up the filter and the oil slick from the chainoil residue from my face and arms - don't fancy that much:lol:
  18. I guess being self employed what I,m always aware of is family and business security. So I'd probably spend a little and save most of it so that as life progresses and something crops up that we need or the kids need or someone else needs that I could access the fund and sort it out. £100k invested in a business that eats and depreciated machinery they way ours does is something needing careful consideration. If my business can justify something on business grounds we generally access funding and purchase it with someone elses money.
  19. ah I see Now what you mean. I,ve been looking at the Norwood arch -I like the way it self lifts as you move off. Anyone got one or now who,s the agent in the uk?
  20. Nice one. Just looking at the construction - are they rigid axles without any suspension units? And is there a wire running from the top of the back cross beam to the front? I can't quite see - is it part of the winch or for strength? I was thinking of buying one but might be tempted to give it a bash in workshop
  21. The quick answer is yes. The reference for this would be a 2005 RHS Plantsman article on This subject. Honey Fungus in wood chip. Is this what you mean? It's available online if you search in google. I,d copy a link but I,m on a IPad and don,t know how to copy and paste on it
