  1. The sides are all one piece with wire holding it all together and they will fold up for storage. To assemble them, all you do is slot in a small rail (at the bottom of the sides) into a rebate around the pallet and then theres a few loops of wire to fold over to hold it all together.... Simples!
  2. That's reasonable. I have been making cage pallets with stock fencing but each one costs about £5 to make. I would much rather pay the little extra and have more of those pallets. They should last years with a bit of care. Have you got the suppliers website/ contact details?
  3. I have acquired a few of these pallets and they are great. Once the logs are seasoned, you can lift the pallet over your truck with a forklift and undo a few bits of wire and the one side swings open so the logs can fall out. Saves emptying it by hand!! Where did you see them for sale? I wouldn't mind a load of them but I bet they're pricy!
  4. Did dadio ask to borrow a saw for one of his "special cuts"?! (see the video forum if you don't know who dadio is!)
  5. I've got the HT131 and highly recommend it... The 4mix does sound strange though!
  6. I'll second that comment with the polesaw Its definately a safer way to do it. Had a big apple (not a big tree but big for an apple!) to remove yesterday after it fell over in the high winds we've been having. Removed all the upper branches first to reduce the weight and that also removes some risk if the tree rolls when removing the lower supporting limbs.
  7. i have got a magazine somewhere which tested loads of expensive re-waterproofing products and the best one was washing them in fabric softener!! I think it was on a cool wash with a long rinse but i'll try and dig the article out.
  8. Its been raining here all day and stayed bone dry in my Berghaus goretex jacket and trousers. Being a climbing jacket, the hood is designed to go over a helmet for those big downpours! They may have cost a bit (about £180) for the both but were cheaper than some "arb" companies waterproofs!
  9. So the mrs can justify having another horse! I would love this to work as we have literally tons and tons of the stuff and cant give it away! Had a lady come up to 'test' the FREE manure and said it was too acidic for her allotment! Poo snob!
  10. I fancy a toss wand but i haven't got anywhere to put a vice in the living room! Will definately be doing a class 1 splice in the other end of the lanyard now... My hands couldn't take another tachyon splice!
  11. Got bored of splicing douuble braids so thought i'd have a go at a Tachyon splice and made myself a new lanyard. Used New England Tachon and used the instructons off neropes.com. All went well but inserting the core into the cover was a pig... Took about 30mins to complete the bury and each pull moved it a mm at a time! What fids do you all use for Tachyon splicing? I was using a wire fid but a tubular fid maybe easier for that bury. The final result turned out well but want to get a few opinions before i splice an eye in the other end!
  12. Is it the fumes which gets them and kill them? I've got a nest growing in my barn and i'm not afraid to say i'm a little scared I jumped into my truck the other day and thought i sat on a thorn .... Turned out to be a wasp and my leg went dead! Much to the amusement of my dad!!
  13. Hey ash, check this out.... Not too far from you. Massey Ferguson All-terrain Forlift | eBay
  14. If i were you, i would try a different Nissan dealer. I had an issue with my clutch when it was still under warranty and i went to my local dealer and had massive arguments with the service manager. In the end i took the vehicle 15 miles to another dealer and they sorted it with no trouble at all! I havent heard of the troubles youre having but i think youre engine is a different spec to my 2006 d40. Mine has been super reliable... The only things to have gone is the clutch (warranty) and a rear propshaft u/j. Cheap motoring for 136,000 miles! I'm sure the courtesy car they give you has to be the same spec or above but cant remember who told me that!
  15. Like the others said, get a wire fid from Treeworker. I started splicing a couple of months ago and i'm addicted to it! Other things you'll need are: Tape measure, Crochet hook, decent heavy duty scissors, permanent marker, an old karabiner, Nylon/rubber hammer (for the stubborn crossovers!), and an old prussic loop. For whipping you'll need some twine, a sail makers palm, sail makers needle, and a pair of pliers. I think thats everything! An easy rope i found to splice is the EB Braids 12mm rigging rope from treeworker. i started on Yale silverstreak which i found a nightmare to splice Oh, and something to treat the blisters!!!!
  16. Just watched it on iplayer.... its at 14mins 18 seconds! His casual walk turning to a frantic run is priceless!
  17. Ive just bought a set of stein poles which are similar to the jameson ones but cheaper! The big shot catapult is compatable etc. Ive got x4 6ft poles which are good with the loppers but i wouldn't go more than x3 with the sawhead. I've also used the AUS insulated poles which were very good but pricey.
  18. Come on then... Lets have a laugh! How much?
  19. My LA puts up public notices for conservation area applications but i know that other LA's don't :confused1:
  20. Do you use a Pantin with a DRT? I have just started climbing a hitchclimber and VT so could i just clip on the pantin and ascend with it, then tend the rope as normal?
  21. Didn't take it negatively at all! I appreciate all comments! I bought a 110 before which was meant to be mint but turned out to have a rotten bulkhead and rear cross member! Live and learn!
  22. Thanks Tom, I'll keep it in mind. Might give the guy a ring and see if a deal can be made. That one has been listed before but only made £3.5k with reserve not met. Personally I think its a bit overpriced at £5500. I'll pm you if I need you to have a look at it.
  23. I wish I had more money to spend on one!! I know I'm not going to find a minter for £5k but a mechanically sound 300tdi with rough body should hopefully be about that price. I might give that one on eBay a look for £3.5k and then spend the rest on doing it up. It's been listed a few times with no bids so a deal may be had. A 300tdi disco can be found cheap for running gear and a mate owes me a full respray so could get it looking nice at least. Thanks for the replies.... Keep me posted if anything pops up!
  24. Done! Hopefully a 130 tipper will be listed soon!
