  1. i've been having trouble too. any idea why?
  2. I took out a Public Liability policy today with Trust Insurance. By far the best priced insurance for the cover you receive! Very helpful guy on the end of the phone too!
  3. An old forester friend used to fell all his Norway Spruce in November and sell the tops for Christmas trees. Made an absolute killing every year! A little way to make a bit more on top.... especially at £25 min per tree last christmas!
  4. I assumed it was called off considering everywhere i have walked for last 2 days has been at a 45° angle into the wind! Keep us posted on the next outing!
  5. Nice! Had my D40 for 5 years and i've done 122,000 miles so far. Had 1 clutch and 1 U/J... Cheap motoring in my book! I wouldn't swap it for anything else! Highly recommend General Grabber tyres. Got 50,000 miles out of the last set of rears..... and the fronts are still going strong! One word of warning though - The clutches aren't the strongest and the worst time for wear i would say is when reversing with a trailer. Whenever i reverse when towing i always put it in 4WD Low ratio.
  6. I have a large Beech and Oak to take down in Newport, South Wales at the end of February and the customer is toying with the idea of having something 'Interesting' carved out of the butts. Is there anyone local who could email me some pics of previous work to show the customer, and then maybe quote for the work?
  7. You would have to pay me to take that pile away! You shouldn't be burning that stuff as firewood. It will give off noxious fumes when burned especially if its old painted wood. Get someone in to remove it professionally!
  8. Thats my next step. Just wanted to know what issue was out now as its my first time receiving it.
  9. I had a subscription bought for me for Christmas and Decembers issue (the one with the banana on the cover!) arrived on the 29th Dec. A bit cheeky as there was only 2 days of Dec left! Still no sign of the January issue but is this the way they run? If they're anything like other magazines, you could probably buy the March issue now! So, what issue have you all got at the moment and when is it normally delivered?
  10. Its a good idea. I wouldn't have thought of it! What tracking company do you use for yours? Do you ever give it a trial when your out in the sticks? The only flaw is signal strength i suppose but for £12 to make, i might give it a go. Do you have to sign up for a year with these tracking companies?
  11. Thanks... i like the edit on your post "small encouragement at the end" I'm going tho hear off the guy today/tomorrow and what the heck, may aswell go for it!
  12. Nice work digga! I love that cleft fencing 3rd pic down!
  13. Thanks digga! Makes sense... I've got an old drawknife which i might try and heat up and bend slightly.
  14. 3rd party... Billcar Engineering ltd - Complete Engine Reconditioning are the people to talk to. i would do it if i had a d22 for piece of mind!
  15. Quick question... how did you de-bark those poles in the last pic? Drawknife?
  16. Thanks for the advice everyone. I am still in two minds whether to get it or not. I need to let him know on Thursday so any other info appreciated.
  17. I've got the D40 and done 120k in it. Only been through 1 clutch under warranty and one U/J. I wouldn't change it for anything. With the d22's, go to Billcar Engineering ltd - Complete Engine Reconditioning. They are in Shrewsbury and specialise in d22 engines and offer replacement big end bolts and a modified oil pickup to make the engines bomb proof. Better to get it done before yours throws a rod!
  18. This is what scares me. If its crap then i wouldn't want to sell it to regular customers as they wouldn't come back. As i posted in a previous thread, i am going to be seasoning inside a barn which may make it even longer to season. But, without it, i won't have any wood to sell (apart from arb waste) next winter! AARRRGGGGHHHH!
  19. After alot of searching, the only hardwood cordwood i can get my hands on is sweet chestnut. At £35 a ton delivered its not too pricey but is it that good a wood to sell? I know it spits etc. but its the only hardwood i can find and its reasonably priced. I have done a few searches on here and it seems a good wood to mix in with other hardwoods but its all i can get at the moment! Should i buy it or not??! Does anyone here sell purely sweet chestnut with good results? Any advice appreciated!
  20. Me and a mate are up for it. PM me with the details.
  21. Funny enough, i was chatting to a guy today and might be able to get to get some IBC frames for free!
  22. Air bricks is a good call! Its a concrete block building (the one behind the toppled mini digger in my avatar!) so wouldn't be a prob to put an air brick every few feet along the wall.
  23. No, i want to keep them out of sight of the light fingered members of the community!
  24. Imagine the lecky bills!! Pallets against the wall is definitely a good idea! And no, its not completely airtight... it wasn't built by a master craftsman! small birds fly in between the roof and the walls!! Thanks, its good to know that you have good results with it. i'm sure we must have an advantage when its freezing cold or the weeks when its soaking wet.
