  1. Nicely done!! Did you just anchor back to the same landy?
  2. As per the title, I'm after a single cab land rover 130 tipper. Must be good mechanically but bodywork condition I'm not too fussed about. I've got a max of £5000 for the right one but would consider a cheaper one which needs work. Must be reliable as I travel about 400 miles a week. Just missed the one on earborist and I've seen the junk one on eBay! May consider a non-tipper to convert, etc.
  3. So does this mean I could tow a 2700 kg Ifor Williams plant trailer empty (providing its under 750kgs) on a post '97 licence? I will be printing this off and keeping in the glovebox if it does!
  4. I sold my 2005 m300 with fixed chute for £2000 a couple of months ago. the guy was well pleased with it.

Got "air meter" for mine. It records the data usage for 3G and wifi seperately so if your on a tariff with 2gb download on 3G (like me!) you know where you are. It resets every billing date too!

What's the name of the tree height app? Is it "how far how high" or "iHypsometerPro"? Any other good iPad apps?? I've been trying to find an invoicing app which is compatible with a desktop (mac) program so I can invoice customers but keep the same layout and invoicing numbers.
  7. What does the training involve? is it specific training on a type of splicing eg. 16 strand or double braid etc. Do you know what date it is?
  8. Heres a few things i've been making. The rigging strops are for balancing limbs and there is a dead eye sling made with the left over. The sirius eye to eyes are for my hitchclimber setup and the ring loop is for my lanyard as a second anchor. The pulley saver isn't finished yet as i'm waiting for a d shackle at the retrieval end.
  9. I haven't been splicing long but i'm addicted to it now! i have done a few sirius splices this morn. It looks to me that your X-Z (Tail Taper) may be too long and not reduced enough. it should be 1/3 of a fid.... so on 10mm sirius it would be 70mm. Or, possibly you haven't reduced the cover enough once you have inserted it into the core. What instructions are you using? I use the Samson instructions and find them easy to use.
  10. Heres a few pics as promised! Need to stitch them but very pleased with the results. Thanks for all the tips and help guys! The pulley-saver is awaiting a retrieval shackle/clip for the tail end. The Sirius was a pain because i couldn't mark the cover with anything! What do you guys use to mark on black covers? Let me know what you think of the splices!
  11. thats a cool setup! nice and simple!
  12. cheers deerman... they sound a good idea. gonna splice a few up tonight. The guy i was chatting to in the treeworker stand described them differently to that. i think he said to use a strop with 2 spliced ends about 5m long as the 2 anchor points then use prussics to balance the limb??
  13. Ronseal do a good oil called "worktop oil". According to a mate, its the only antibacterial wood oil available?? I have used it on some chopping boards and still looks good and sealed after 18 mths of daily use.... which reminds me, i better re-oil them again sometime! 14. I remember reading somewhere about using a couple of rigging strops with prussics for balancing limbs when rigging. has anyone got a picture or has anyone spliced one up? i bought 10 metres of EB braids 12mm from treeworker at the arbshow to splice but can't get my head around it now!
  15. I always thought that but i doubt it this year! Lister Wilder were doing Stretch Air type c's all in for £165 (all sold out) and marlow gecko ropes dirt cheap. i had the last one... 20m rope with a spliced eye for £23.50!
  16. i didn't even notice your avatar!
  17. it just fell over! i honestly don't know why it went over! the ground was on a very slight slope and i had been working there for an hour or so with no trouble. then all of a sudden..... brown pants! i can only put it down to a combination of narrow tracks, slight slope, and the position of the digger arm. Scared me because there was no obvious reason and needless to say, i stay away from narrow tracked mini diggers now!
  18. i braced myself in the mini-digger in my avatar and as it was going over i was holding onto the rollcage! luckily remembered to let go as my arm would have been crushed! messed my shoulder up though as it took all the impact! Not as bad as a friends brother who rolled a mini digger into his house.... and ended up in his hallway! MINI DIGGERS ARE LETHAL!
  19. its getting earsier! i havent had much time lately but i'm off to the arbshow tomorrow to stock up on more rope! i'll post some pics up when i get chance to have the splices scruitenised!
  20. Here is a little video of my splitter running off a jcb beaver powerpack. the spec of the powerpack says it runs 2050psi @ 20 l/min and it has more than enough power for me! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_h-9jhjbbY]YouTube - ‪Log Splitter running off hydraulic powerpack‬‏[/ame]
  21. Looking good CraigD! I'm gonna pick some up at the arbshow next week and have a go.
  22. Cheers Drew... thanks for the advice on the other thread. my class1 splices are coming on better now. Hands are still killing though!
  23. Do you know how your armour prus is spliced? is it class1 or class2? i Fancy trying some but have read it is only advised to have a class2 splice as it is core dependant.
  24. So you pay £450+vat and spend 3 days not learning anything, just to be told you can do what you could do already????
  25. i have just ordered some more piano wire as the old stuff is getting a bit out of shape now! thanks for all the tips... i'll let you know how i get on!
