  1. Very nice! Out of interest, how long does it take to cut a M3 of cut logs from the billets? Are yours 1m long so you get x4 250mm logs from each billet? I'm just about to go onto billets as i think it will save an awful lot of time and handling. I got fed up last winter trying to find space to store empty crates and have enough space to get to the other crates. Then theres loading the trucks by hand.... I've had enough! HOPEFULLY billets are my answer!
  2. Whers the tree in newport timberbear?? Just got in from a fallen willow... Only 2hrs to clear it up but now i'm SOAKED! Waiting for the next call Still blowing a gale out there!
  3. Sadly only type A's. That combi tool holder is a bit naff as you'd never use it... the top flap is on a popper and comes undone but i'm just going to cut mine off! The biggest decision is the colour.... I went for the red!
  4. Here you go: http://www.engelbert-strauss.co.uk/show/activeSITE.asp?p=%3cRubrikName%3eSUCHE%3c%2fRubrikName%3e%3cfolder+id%3d%22236A3A14-A38E-4E8A-8629-E7F095AA0958%22%3e%3c%2ffolder%3e%3cslot+name%3d%22content%22%3e%3cco+id%3d%222601671F-B60A-4B23-80D3-616CBCC9C096%22%3e%3c%2fco%3e%3c%2fslot%3e%3cat%3e%3cmillieu%3eDFCB6FDE-C29C-4F6D-B33C-3710A58F07BB%3c%2fmillieu%3e%3cArtikelid%3e9E00F83C-42DB-4EC7-AB44-AC307EBBE94C%3c%2fArtikelid%3e%3cpage%3e1%3c%2fpage%3e%3c%2fat%3e
  5. Engelbert Strauss trousers. Had mine a month now and I love them... For £120 they're a bargain! They have a zip behind the knee for ventilation and they really do keep you cool. Also come in long length... Which is essential for me! :-)
  6. does it retrieve well with the edelrid biner and retrieval ball? looks very neat and i might be copying that idea
  7. My dad owns 14 acres of mixed native broadleaf woodland - full of Ash, Cherry, oak, sycamore, yew, holly, field maple, etc. - so thats my 'natives' sorted!! Why not plant sequoias?? They are my favourite tree for so many reasons... And as the video said; they are amongst the higest co2 absorbing tree you could plant.
  8. Everyone one should watch this video! 50 years.... Very humbling stuff. I'm only 29 and have my first child on its way. I want my grandchildren to be around and love life and nature! I have always loved Giant Sequoias and have always said to myself that one day i will plant some, but have never got round to it. After hearing what David Milarch said towards the end of the lecture, i am going to plant as many as possible on my land.... Starting this year!
  9. Emlyn canvas in Newport... They're under George Street bridge. They'll make any canvas, any size!
  10. No, I knew the owner who bought it brand new!! Lol
  11. Thanks for the link. I had seen that one and I forgot it mentioned the kw output!! Oops!! Here is a picture of it: It has the lid, has "no2" cast inside the doors, and has the fixed (non rotating) grate. It has a lot of corrosion inside so maybe the firebox has rotted out into the ovens. I just hope it's going to be worth all the hard work to get it going again!! :-)
  12. Does anyone use an old Rayburn No2?? I have acquired one which needs a bit of tlc and want it to run some underfloor heating and a couple of rads, preferably with a thermal store. I lit some newspaper in the firebox and smoke poured out of the hob and the ovens so it definitely needs some 'attention'! Google searches haven't produced much info on it so any advice/specs etc. would be greatly recieved!!
  13. No mate, quiet at the moment... As expected really!! Bloody phone hasnt stopped for firewood tho... Shame i havent got any left!! Lol

    Hows things with you??

  14. I like that alot!!!!
  15. did you apply for that Tree surgeon giveaway thingy which was drawn this month? It said when you registered for the competition that the sponsors would contact you with marketing etc. Maybe we've all got got one coming!.... doubt it though!
  16. Sounds just like a dear old family friend who got me into this lark..... He's not in the best of health but was out with me last week cutting up a big old cherry which was down on his land. 10 mins work then 30 mins rest for him and he then tells me stories of working in the woods..... I dread the day he goes I feel for you Pete
  17. It's 1050-H14, wish I could afford some high strength T6 but it costs a fortune in 3000x1500mm sheets!! 1050-H14 is what bodybuilders use for this kind of work. It is soft, but it shouldn't crack or corrode easily! I am an aircraft engineer originally and you wouldn't believe the costs of some of the materials! The rivets I used were surplus from a job I did years ago in Belgium, and at $1 per rivet, I wouldn't want to be buying them!! :-)
  18. Cheers mate... The aluminium angle is riveted and bonded to the steel frame, and the Ali sheet is bonded and fastened with nuts and bolts. It could have been riveted but it will look better with the bolts from the outside. Really, you don't need need any fasteners... The bonding adhesive is called 'ms polymer' and is super strong yet flexible... But for peace of mind, I put some fasteners in! If you are going to rivet it, i wouldn't use normal pop rivets... They just aren't up to the job!
  19. It doesnt look like the riko one to me.... But i could be wrong! Would be interested to find out what make it is too???
  20. It was all stitched up before it was climbed on. To be honest, I hate lock stitching and whipping.... It drives me nuts so I really have to psych myself up to do it! Lol I have done one splice using Brion Toss' method of invisible lock stitching which turned out ok!
  21. Funny enough... It's nearly finished. I've got to build the other barn door then get it painted next week (hopefully!) Here's a few pics to keep you going..... Got a guy trying to find the paint code for the green on the new 'yodel' delivery vans.... should look quite fetching especially with the sign writing idea i have! And before anyone asks..... Yes it does fit out through the doors..... JUST!
  22. OP is the friction hitch.... not the working line. What difference does it make if its got the name 'Ocean' in the name?? AFAIK it is designed specifically for arb work as a friction cord. I find it easy... have done loads now though! The hardest part for me is getting the core through the cover.
  23. No, its 8mm Ocean Polyester but they're producing it now with the same outer as OV.... It confused me when it first turned up!
  24. I like tachyon... Easy to splice, 11.5mm dia, very supple, and nice to handle. Here's one I made earlier! :-)
