  1. Can anyone say for sure if the rw would actually work with a lockjack? I've read different things in different places saying yes and no. Has anyone actually tried it? The thing I'm dubious about is the way the lj works. It needs the double attachment to grab the rope. Does it work if you attach the rw tether to the top attachment ring?
  2. If you do change the date I'd probably be able to make it. No worries if not, I'll be down in the new year
  3. You want the grillon not the gri gri. The latter is a proper belay device. Though I suppose with a gri gri you could make your own grillon but it would cost more
  4. Just realised it's a friday, ill be at work! Sorry lads, maybe next time
  5. I've been up and down the country like a madman recently! Got some pics of the beeches I was talking about, il post them up when I get the pc out, you can see if you recon it's worth the trip to norfolk
  6. Will see what I'm up to, would love to join you if I'm free
  7. It does but they haven't got it on the market yet as the paperwork needs sorting. I think...
  8. All we need now is approval to use srt for work positioning. I know there are guys doing it already but it causes troubles with insurance IME. Does anyone know if or when the rw will hit the uk market? I suppose it'll have to go through all the ce testing for that. I have a feeling that whenever the unicender finally gets released there will finally be something kosher (in this country) that works as an srt positioner, which should hopefully make afag/nptc/loler etc realise it is a valid option for work. Then fingers crossed let us use it legitimately
  9. it might not have it actually, but it has the v rig which is is about the same
  10. Download this http://www.treemagineers.com/downloads/hitch_climbers_guide.pdf It will make more sense than I would if I tried to explain!
  11. With a few additions the grillon or art would do what the ce does for nowhere near the money. haven't tried the art, but a grillon works singled out so you can gain almost twice the length when you need it
  12. I got a piece of ceanothus from a job yesterday approx 3'x8'' tapering to 5". It's got quite a few burr growths on it. Does anyone know if it's any good for turning? Does anyone want it?
  13. Seen this a while back in an email circular, I'm a tad sceptical whether it's been photoshopped. If not it's amazing!
  14. On the whole, I've always got away with it. Just make sure you don't cut ANYTHING, and try to leave deadwood intact and in the tree. Only had an issue once where the tree turned out to be privately owned, but later got a call to survey it
  15. You say you don't climb or fell trees, butt can you use a chainsaw? If people go for the operator and machine option it's unlikely they'll cut everything out ready for the chipper.
  16. Not sure,i usually upload from my pc. Maybe ask one of the mods/steve bullman

  17. Lockjack hands down for me. Once you wear it in it's so user friendly. Being able to adjust your position from above it is so cool!
  18. Any chance you could upload the photos from last weekend mate?

  19. Briefly, and it's pretty similar, can be real smooth. The only reason I don't use it is because I find I get cramp in my arms on long days in big trees with small ropes, but if 11 is what you're used to I'd stick with it

  20. So am I! They're going back to the shop tomorrow, so fingers crossed I get it sorted. As for a vote,i think it's been done to death in the past!
  21. Yeah you can use it with anything 11-13mm. When you buy them they should come with two cams, one for 11/12 and one for12/13mm. It takes a while to get used to it, and to break it in so it runs smooth. Probably about two weeks and you'll be flying!

  22. It seems to be that time of year again. Dark mornings and afternoons, you don't see the damn stuff!
  23. At the moment for a lot of people, it seems to be finding one
  24. Didn't think it was right, it's stuff that hadn't been tucked in properly when the seam was done. Pretty annoyed as it's the second bit of stihl ppe I've bought that has been poorly finished and needed to go back:thumbdown:
  25. :sneaky2:Technically a flip line is a different thing to a strop... I think people are starting to make up words just to confuse each other, like a secret arb language! If you're putting a kit together you should join us on the next social climbing event!
