  1. First one is a garden job from last october, lleylandii hedge and old fence out and new fence in and second is some stock fencing from march this year

Just refitted mine myself after the chimney sweep condemned it, turned out the professional company who had fitted it had cut the steel stove pipe so it finished 4-5 inches short of the clay liners which meant it had caused large build up of soot and possibility of chimney fire, plus it meant was causing a vortex so not drawing properly, have now bought new register plate and raised it so was about 2 1/2 inch gap to the clay liners and chamfered it round with fire cement and fitted longer steel pipe so it goes into the pots, now draws like a blast furnace and lights first time everytime
  3. Haha I did that after 12 months of continuous calls from various "charities" I'm now on Tps and it has been alot better but if I do get them I just leave it connected and wealk off and leave them talking to themselves til hang up
  4. You forgot to mention you also need a fully trained and competent person to stand next to you at work to remind you to breathe in and out in the correct order

  9. Between £7 and £15 here, although its mostly layed using sawn stakes and no binders on farm jobs, actually in 22 years of laying I can only think of 2 maybe 3 jobs that have wanted binders
  10. I was always told to lay uphill, it puts less stress on the hinge and saves you having to lay the tree over so far, only time I lay downhill is if I need to back lay some to fill a gap, if theres enough in the hedge to do it else just leave the gap for planting up

I've seen plenty of lazy youngsters in different lines of work but as has been said its not just youngsters, seems to depend how you were bought up rather than in what era, I know some youngsters now who will put in some serious graft off thier own bats and by the same token I know plenty of older lads who are keen to work til they try it, trouble is you don't know which way they are without trying them
  13. Been taking out a lleylandii hedge today 3 man crew shifted 3 transit loads of chip without any jogging and back at yard for half 4

  15. Theres an old saying "more haste, less speed" learnt many years ago that all rushing about does is leave you knackered, usually means you cock up or break something and does'nt acheive anymore than working hard and steady

I can read that ok, can also read upside down and back to front with no problem, though struggle with Jon's posts sometimes punctuation has never been my strong point though I always try and spell correctly, though sometimes it goes astray usually when tired or ranting lol, oops hang on I've used a smiley and a lol does that make me sub 25? instead of my 38 years ?
  17. Been cutting some sycamore and beech this week thats been left in the round for few years off the ground and its actually gone over once you got into it gone to the crumbly balsa wood type stage, qucik cutting though
  18. Just acquire the endless ones that are left in hedge bottoms by the council or various utility companies
  19. Throttle cable on the old nuffield we had when I was on yts snapped one day, drove it back to the yard with a pair of mole grips attached and then joined it back together with a snare key. Put a new alternator on my ford tractor, after a few hours work and in middle of a flail mowing job, the pully twisted itself off the shaft and threw the fan belt, rang my brother to see if he could borrow pair of tights off sister in law and meet me at the job, finished mowing, tied the tights on to provide temporary fan belt and stopped at the river on the way home to top the water up as had got bit warm while fan belt was off
  20. Reminds me of one of my favourite Churchill qoutes at a party a lady said to him "Sir you are a drunk" to which he replied "Madam I may be drunk, but in the morning I will be sober, you however will still be ugly"

  22. Once recovered a david brown 1390 with a 3 ton trailer on the back with a 200tdi 90, had to pull it dead weight as the clutch had collapsed in the brownie
  23. Think I ought to move to somerset looking at about £150 a day round here tractor and man unless got very big shiny kit, and at that price my tractors not turned a wheel in 6 weeks, hence why gone grounding for local tree firm
  24. Made a few jars of tomato and courgette relish the other night to try and reduce the courgette mountain
