  1. I dislike tending slack now too. Tried it for a couple hours and it felt so stiff and slow! I've come up with this, very simple and does work, put the end of the rope through the same point I was anchored, leaning on the door ledge of my container and slowly dropping down worked well, don't expect amazing results but it did a good job for such a simple addition.
  2. Im after a guy to help out on some housing estates for these two days this week. ive got the kit, you just need PPE, hi viz can be provided, as can a helmet if required. its not tricky work, crown lifting, pruning, general maintenance works. saw tickets a must. have to be on site 7.30am tuesday and possibly the same thursday, that will be confirmed. also a possibility of further work in april. call or text 07516 348002 £80 per day or PM here. cheers
  3. they never seem to show as much money as i want in my bank ive been with them on a savings and current account for nearly 10 years now, never had an issue with them!
  4. after using my lockjack a fair bit now, nearly for a year, one thing that always got annoying was the fact that if the slack underneath just isnt at the right angle, it wont release properly so its awkward when branchwalking. would a pulley set underneath it be a good way of sorting this? i was thinking something clipped to my bridge next to the lj to help tend the slack in, much in the way a hitchclimber or skywalker pulley works on a VT system
  5. leave the saw in the cut and let it run down before you move it is one that i noticed was easily missed. just be confident with your positioning before you make the cuts, have a little bounce to check your footing, once your committed, do it.
  6. Cool. Sounds like fun Would love to get some new not so common species. Including a few better ones of what I've already got!
  7. Me and robin were talking about this today, I shall get one organised for us lot around here if that's of any interest?
  8. I'm up for that David
  9. I've never had an issue with any apple products I've owned, I've had them since the second generation iPod and now I have an iPod classic, never owned any other music player, why? Because it works and does what it does the best! iPad, iPhone, iMac, iPod, all designed to be useful and functional. iPad, tablet pc, it's not a laptop, so why compare it to one? It iPhone, it's a smartphone, it does a lot, I use mine for emails, calendars and a myriad of other things. I bout the first gen iPhone because I wanted one, hadn't used one beforehand. Fell in love straight away because it was so simple and user friendly. Both parents and my sister have one because they are so easy to use, and so versatile. My dad bought one for his only employee because he can send emails to him on site, he can take photos, and other things. How is that not useful? Battery is a day, so what, cable at the bedside and plug it in at night. Wake up with a full battery. iMac, all in one pc, look how many there are now? I'd happily spend the money to get rid of a huge tower from under my desk and get a great piece of kit. I cant understand why people have to bash apple, I'm not a fanboy, but I know where they can benefit me, the cost is justifiable, they are made in china, what isn't? If they weren't so user friendly, useful and beneficial to a lot of people, we wouldn't buy them. We don't buy a £10 phone and expect it to be able to know what I've said to it then tell me the weather on a voice command.
  10. I've not noticed any round this area. But £2500 for a cat converter is pants! I thought £300 for my car was bad!
  11. I'm thinking beech or possibly Norway maple? Not ash though
  12. I'm going through mine ATM. £35/hr for training and £115 for the test. I've done 2 hours and got another two hours booked then the test the week after. Although you are right, it's costing me less than £300 in all, but I've had plenty practice!
  13. It probably just went through the wall!
  14. The 362 is a good saw to look at. Nice mid range with good power to weight ratio.
  15. Never nice to hear. Thoughts with him and those affected!
  16. I'm interested John. How much for kindling? Will probably be after a few hundred bags.
  17. We are having a few enquiries about kindling now and was wondering what's the best way to do kindling? Buy it in and make little money on it? Another option we saw was to hire a kindlett for a week and buy in a heap of cordwood to process through it. A claimed 300 bags per day with the machine we looked at.
  18. It was taken at Dunham Massey in Cheshire.
  19. I don't have a clue. But student finance will still pay for it. Maybe it will discourage so many students going and make degrees more worthwhile than a 3 year drinking game!
  20. OP. should have been clearer with that one
  21. whats the finicky bits? you dont have to worry about looking after kit. abusing the kit that makes you money is daft!
  22. i wouldnt have put my name to that tbh!
  23. thats not so bad, for the onsite course its £9000 per year as of september 2011. luckily it did not affect me!
  24. found a company very local to me who im hiring from, saves loads of time travelling to collect any others and i know it will be looked after. its a tw190 too so will work a little better than a 150
  25. im on a canon 1100D, entry level SLR, nothing too fancy, does take some great images though! Flash is good and with the ability to change lenses having an 18-250mm lens has a good zoom but you dont have to stand miles away to get a close photo. hardly pocket sized but suits me well. example pics
